- This is a hike up Daly creek. I am mainly looking for any signs of grizzly bear activity. But I wanted to give you an idea of what winter hiking is like in Yellowstone with nice weather.
I just love waking up in the morning and watching one of your videos it makes my day. Every video is beautiful especially the ones in the winter.

Looks like a really nice day to hike ! Winter is nice in Montana , beautiful in Yellowstone. That was a tough trail to hike through with out snowshoes. Good job glad you had a nice day thanks for sharing .
I hope you find more time to go with me when the grizzly bears come out.
@@StanMills sure will going to be amazing
It is beautiful in the winter season. The thermal features are unique and colorful as the steam rises. It's quite the adventure.
I really wish we could see where animals go when the weather is like that. Where they hunker down, cos you know they're there.
That is one of the great wonders that I have also. Suddenly onto the first nice spring day, there are animals every direction you look. It is amazing.
Fearless 😱
Amazing landscape of Yellowstone.
Wow, even in winter, Yellowstone looks beautiful.
A lot of people think the winter is the most beautiful. It is probably true. My only problem is I don’t see much wildlife.
snowpack looks dangerously lean...hope some big spring storms up the snowpack.
Do you look up in trees for mtn lions?
I don’t, but I should look more in trees for both bears and cougars. I concentrate on tracks.
@@StanMills makes sense
I share your interest in solo hiking. There is definitely something about being alone in a wilderness. I have Yellowstone on my weather app for temperature and when the polar vortex came through it was unreal like -25 degrees or less. I believe 1 out of 10 bison die in the winter in the Yellowstone park area. Thanks for your channel, so uplifting, God bless and stay safe, Mark(Maryland resident)
Forget about all the accessories and the walking in the freezing weather and contending with dangerous wildlife. Just stay inside the car and drive around, crank the tunes and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Getting out and exploring is the fun part. Your missing out
Stan , Do you make your hot chocolate with water or milk ? I like mine with milk. I know this was an odd question , I was just curious. Stay Safe 😊👍👍
My wife makes it with Hersheys cocoa, sugar, and milk.
Came across fresh griz tracks last week up wicked creek along the 78 trail in the absarokas...big boar I reckon...woods
After all, contrary to popular belief, bears are not true hibernators, they’ve been known to get up every now and then during winter.
Really. That is great news. You are the first report I’ve heard about this year. That motivates me to start looking more. Thanks for letting us know.
I suppose in a month or so animals will be more active
I sure hope so. Can’t wait.
@StanMills I can't wait for June 5th when I make my way to Yellowstone for the 2nd time Hopefully better prepared
So it's White Yellowstone..
Awesome! Thanks! 👍😎🇨🇦
Wondering what those temperatures are
Beautifuly COLD! 🥶 ❤
Not very cold actually. Think it was 15F starting out.
So majestic & peaceful! Thank the good Lord for His creation!
Yes, I thank Him every day and all day long.
Tough to make a living if you are a coyote in YNP. Imagine the miles a day it takes consume to enough calories to match the calories it takes used. Unless there is....winter kill before Stan finds it! :P
Plus they have to compete with Wolves as well, although they also have to be cautious of Mountain Lions, and sometimes even Grizzly Bears (since they tend to wake up from hibernation earlier than Black Bears) & they only occasionally have to deal with Black Bears.
What was the temperature on the day of this hike? I have hand and foot warmers in my emergency pack in my car because I live in Iowa where the temps can reach way below zero. How long do your foot warmers last? Luckily I've never had to use mine.
I think it was about 15F. I didn’t need either one with that temperature but I was doing it to show people how I prepare for winter hiking. I get questions about that from time to time. I knew this would be a boring video so just trying to add something educational to it. Thanks for your comments.
🗽Grizzlys are sleeping... but where ???
.
Probably higher up in elevation. I know of a couple spots but I can’t get to them this time of year.
I work here in the summers. I’m missing it this time of year! Be safe out there alone man! Great video : )
I miss spring. Can’t wait.

Amazing solo adventures, thank you for sharing these with us.
Thankyou Stan .
Nice to see , glad there is some snow .
Take care .
Finally starting to get snow. Hope it continues for the next month. We need it.
@@StanMills yes it's dry up there .
Take care , be careful.
Where is our snow this year? My wife and I went to West a couple of weeks ago and it was empty. It reminded me of West in the early 1980s.
Where ? Colorado gets most our snow now until April
Snowing in Denver rn 🍻

Yellowstone is beautiful in winter. Thanks.
Incredible! Thanks for sharing
What a beautiful winter scenery bud. You created another fantastic film here, simply enjoyable!
Thank you. Maybe we will start seeing wildlife in a few weeks.
Great video Stan! How were the roads going to the park?
The only open roads are highway 191 and the highway to Cooke City. They are always good.
I would be coming Livingston.
Does bear spray freeze?
I am not sure. But I still take it. Sometimes I put a hand warmer under it.
Beautiful ❤ thanks for sharing
It is amazing how quiet it is when the temperature is very low, beautiful scenery there ✌🏻👍🇺🇸
Yes, I don’t think people realize how quiet it can be. It is amazing.
Awesome! Thanks! 👍😎🇨🇦
Beautiful scenery. Thanks for sharing the peace and quiet.
Thank you. I hope we get more snow. I should be snowshoeing this time of year.
wonderful
