- This is a nice day hike that you can do in the spring and summer. I am doing it now to see if there is any evidence of grizzly activity in this area. But in the summer you will have a good chance of seeing a bear in this area. This hike started off at about 10 degrees below zero Fahrenheit which makes for good snowshoeing. It took about 6.5 hours to do this 7 mile hike. Daly creek is in Yellowstone National Park.
Thank you, Stan! I love the winter up there. My one winter time was fab. If your wrapped well in the right clothing, you can get hot hiking or xc skiing for sure. I loved the blowing snow in my face while our group did xc. Such a great winter playground. Pristine and quiet.
Enjoy!
You can really feel through the video how strenuous a hike that was. Well done Stan
It is. I would say it is between 2 to 3 times harder than hiking on dry ground. Thank you for your comment.
Love seeing Yellowstone in the wintertime & all the animal tracks. I visited the Daly Creek Cabin back over the summer. A decent-sized storm was popping up and I sat on that bench for a bit but it didn't start raining so I decided to carry on. Was hoping to make it a few miles farther to my campsite WF1 before it came down. Soon after I left the rain started and I had to tough it out underneath a tree instead of the porch overhang - regretted that decision!
Beautiful.
Awesome!!! 👍😎🇨🇦💫
Sounds to be good aerobic exercise
Really a great video. Takes me back when a friend and I snowshoed up in the High Sierra in January. Just hiked till we couldn’t go any further. Made camp and enjoyed the outdoors. That was back in 1974. My hat is off to you doing what wish I could still do!
Too bad they didn’t have small video cameras back then. That would be great to see.
Alot of work for you , relaxing for me to watch 😊
Tire lights drive me crazy thanks for a great cold video ,
Me too, but not on this car. This is my hiking car that is old but very good. It’s the kind of car that you don’t have to worry about leaving at the trailhead.
Another great hike Stan. Looked chilly but beautiful area! Thanks for twig us along! Quite a bit of snow still for sure!!
Yes, nice to see a little snowpack. I would say it is only about 2/3 of usual on this side of the park.
Hope to do this at some point in my life. 😊
Same here , NYC was the most bone chilling cold I’ve ever felt. Even Nebraska blizzards don’t compare.
Part of the problem may be that I never dresses warm enough when I was in NYC. I just didn’t expect it to be so cold there.
Another nice one Stan, always great seeing your content. I wish I could hike with you.
Thank you. I hope to be seeing lots of wildlife in about a month. These snowshoeing hikes are basically a lot of exercise because I don’t see any animals.
Snow shoe hiking looks hard!
I would say it is 2 to 3 times harder than hiking on dry ground.
Thankyou , really enjoyed the video .
Nice loop Stan. I didn't know the vole hunting was so prevalent.
Awesome video Stan. Beautiful vistas of your trek to Daly Creek Cabin. I hear snowpack is only at 50%. True?
🗽 -23°C ... that is chilling. 🥶
.
Wow Stan! What a workout! It's a testament of your physical prowess that you are able to hike that far in snowshoes, no less. Thanks for the beautiful video!
Thank you. Yes, it is a good workout. Workout more than anything else because there are few animals to see. But even if it is hard, it is good to be out in Gods beautiful places and experience the peaceful quiet.
Stan, what are your clothing choices for that kind of temperature (-10 degree F)? Nice video.
What kind of range finder do you use or are you eye-balling it? Can you do showing what kind of gear you hike in?
What kind of Garmin do you use?
Thank you for sharing your hike with us❤
The one in the video is a inReach explorer +
" it suppose to "warm up" to 28,30 degrees" lol, that's still below 0 Stan!
as a New Yorker (Buffalo, NY), I'd rather be in Montana also!
Same here brother. Western MA here
Nice Stan
Good morning. Thank you.
Beautiful scenery, Stan…. And glad to see the volume of snow has picked up. Is that a Ranger/Backcountry cabin??
I think so but I have never seen it used so I can't tell you much about it.
@@StanMillsTY!…. Btw, I live in upstate NY and agree with you regarding NYC!…. I much prefer the Adirondacks!!
@@RJBeaconI see you have some videos on your channel. Are they in the Adirondacks? I just watched one on the Blue Mountain lakes.
Is that a hawk in the tree at 8:25?
No, but it looks like it. Probably an old nest of some kind.
4:29 I like angry Stan. Preach it brother 🙌
