I have no idea why I love watching these two make these videos. It's more than just the subject matter. It's like spending time with friends going shopping. They have hit the right 'note' in presentation. The thing is, and the industry knows this, it's pretty hard to find a couple that you want as friends. And these two, well, they radiate that they'd be good friends to shop with.

Hostess is great. Host is not. Less talk. More show. You don't need to have constant conversation. Your host is OFTEN wrong about what he is saying and that makes him come off as an idiot. His accent doesn't help. Find a new host. Keep the good. Get a drone and incorporate some flyover shots.

It’s amazing how much these “pocket yachts” have come forward in the last 30 years. This is an exceptional boat for its age and shows the care and attention it has been given. Most importantly, it shows how the amenities have evolved over time while still retaining their overall utility and safety.

The best of my life. I'm 55 now. No boat. If the price of these boats isn't a deterrent , than finding a live aboard slip is. I wish you would discuss this . Finding a live aboard slip for all these yachts has got to be a real challenge. I waited 7 months for mine in '92.

That one is a classic, the "Bow Pulpit" was a trademark of a lot of premier yachts of the 80's and 90's. On the East Coast you rarely would see a 1st class yacht that didn't have this distinguishing accoutrement, especially Broward and Hatteras yachts.

For your all's information; a BOW PULPUIT is usually found on a motor yacht and facilitates an anchor and windlass/chain for anchoring, which is what this "Titanic spot" is. A BOW SPRIT is usually found on a sail boat and is used for tethering a forward sail to. I had a Sea Ray that had a Bow Pulpit and even knowing that it was dangerous, I LOVED riding there while someone else was piloting her, and dangling my feet over the side...GREAT PLACE to SIT!!
I enjoy your videos also, but now I am landlocked and can't easily get to water on the weekends!
Gas engines are about petered out and ready for re-building at between 4-6 thousand hours and diesels generally are dependable up to 10-13 thousand hours; hence the difference in price. Think of the speeds they are generally run? Gas: 3-4 thousand RPM, diesel to 1.2 to 2.5 thousand RPM. That's why a boat this size and up generally has diesels and smaller ones gave gas. Torq is what matters on a boat, because, unlike a car, it never coasts, cars do. a boat is always "going uphill". And diesels develop more TORQ per square inch and are generally built for re-building.
A 1993 is NOT considered all that old for a boat, boats are not cars! Think of how much BOATS usually just sit at the dock, verses a car!!!! New boats are less practical than older one's too!

Since purchasing our boat down here in Florida we now know of 5 others that were able to find these (Unicorns) as some call then on the east coast of the U.S. The build quality of Tollycrafts are second to none. If you want to see and learn more about Tollycrafts I would invite you to check out Searching for C-Shells. Cindy and Sheldon do a fantastic series showing how life can be on a Tollycraft.

Wow the boat was full of surprises! It has a great lay out and offers great spaces. Hard to believe that modern boats dont offer a lot of what this boat does. Its hard to believe you get all this in a 44ft boat. I wonder why current boat builders dont look at what worked in the past and try to improve on it rather than making new boats with hard access to engines and such. The price is very good for a liveaboard. A great buy for someone!

After watching your series I am taking steps to retire on the sea! I do put on the super yacht videos only in the back ground on my big screen for morning coffee. But most of those videos are dreaming fun. Nothing more. However, I wait for your new releases, make dinner, quite the house, and watch. This affordable yacht series is so perfect for the masses. The everyday folks like me. Thank you. What would be helpful - A video on the kinds of loan options and the financing elements of living on the sea. You already released a wonderful video on your own annual breakdown. I was thinking more like maybe creating your version of a BUYing walkthough (Survey)? What questions to ask? What would you almost always consider replacing when buying an affordable yacht. How to pick a yacht manager? (Im not as mechanical as Rico. So I would learn as I go, but would need to hire someone to visit once a month to inspect my yacht and teach me things as a new captain and teach me how to take care of the electrical, plumbing etc... Last question, I keep hearing about boating superstitions! I would be fun if you all got us caught up on them!

Truly awesome and so well laid out. If you hadn't told us I would not believe this vessel is 28 years old. She appears to have been very well taken care of and at 2200 and 2400 respectively her engines if they've been maintained properly have a good bit of life left in them. Barring a survey and sea trail I'd say she's ready to go and well worth the money. It's a dang shame that I can't afford to snag her right now as this is pretty much exactly the size, level and layout I'm looking for for myself, my wife and our special needs son. It would be fairly easy for him to move around in and on and has plenty of room for just the 3 of us. I wonder if 500nm is the limit of it's range barring Jerry Cans or if it's possible to run on a single engine or both with low revs at 4 to 6 knots or so and really extend her range. Many people don't realize the benefits of a power boat being able to maintain a constant speed over ground of around that 5 knot range and just how much ground/sea you can cover that way. 120nm in a 24 hour period day over day is nothing to sneeze at and is better than a lot of cruisers are able to maintain. Does that dingy come with it as well? I truly hope in a year or so I'll be able to find a vessel like this that looks like most of it's life has been spent as only a weekender or for short vacations.
Thanks for sharing her with us and finding such an affordable vessel that has been so well maintained and large enough to actually live on and capable of doing some island hoping or coastal cruising...

I really like this boat! It has charm with more interior wood. The exterior walkways are wide with great railings; newer boats have thin walkways around the boat, not user friendly. This boat has a dinette, yeah, alot of newer boats don't! Older boats have more room since the LOA does not include the molded swim platforms, a 44 foot boat is really a 44! You get more with an older boat for a lot less money! Great showing! I like you are finally wearing boat shoes, save your toes lol!! Great job!!

Thanks Rico and Victoria for yet another fun and interesting tour..!
You sure know how to make just about any old boat interesting. Love the dinette and the water maker in this one.
As far as I can understand, this boat has not been changed much since it was new..; It's just well maintained.
Hence, it gives an interesting glimpse into the life and times when it was built in 1993.
A great budget option - and a bit of a blank canvas for the right person.
I would definitely add lots of solar panels, LifePo4 batteries, etc.

thanks for sharing this unusual yacht Rico & Victoria ... some of these older tubs have a lot of interesting features that newer boats don't have i find the newer boats a bit bland they all have a similar layout , you have a decent size lounge, a more than ample lunch/ dinette, loads of storage a really comfortable master that nice, bright and airy with all the windows a lot of newer boats the master has very little in the way of natural lighting ... it would be a great live aboard/cruiser .... sorry i missed the premier of the video but i needed a bit of a Siesta

Hiya Vico, again. It's good to see you back in hoops, nearly stripes, and the hat is wonderful as is the sea horse jewellery! It showed that you are experienced liveaboards, from comments about the, in this case, excellent storage to the plethora of cross breezes everywhere, you are always looking and on this boat finding both. Considering how old this boat is, she has a lot of things worth commenting on, the huge, in comparison with contemporary boats, windows, plus the number of them. The extra escape ports forward in the master and en-suite, a window shoe-horned in where you just would not envisage one, everywhere. Yes, the navigation equipment, that radar... is very much of the time of the boats making, but even old they still work, I just wish I worked that well! Or as well as you two do... Yet another wonderful walkthrough of a very tidy potential purchase.
Thank you both for a fantastic tour of a potential home on the water. Were all the cupboard doors full louvre doors, or just for show? In other words, did they allow airflow helping to prevent that musty smell?
    Stay safe...Steve xx...

Great video. I wonder about the risks of buying an older boat. I’ve read that you typically cannot insure a boat that is over 20 years old, and that many marinas require insurance. Also, if the boat sinks or has a similar mishap you could be liable for costs that may even exceed the purchase price. Am I just too negative?

    • @NautiStyles
      @NautiStyles  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

That’s absolutely not true, you will have a hard time financing a boat older then 15 years old, but insurance is not going to be in issue, you can always get insurance
