Your reviews helped me switch this year. Went from an Arctic Cat Procross XF 800 to the 2022 Expedition Extreme 850. I can not wait to try this beautiful beast. The weather in parts of Northern Ontario have not permitted me to try it out. Seriously can not wait!

Thank you Mark. Excellent review. Nice to see a different perspective on snowmobiling with this sled. Ski-Doo seems to look at the market differently than other manufacturers. This sled appears to have multiple uses. The test now would be longevity.

@@brentbradley6711 She told me to get whatever I wanted. :) I ended up snow checking a Renegade X-RS 900T though. There isn't enough open land in my area to do enough off trail riding to justify the Expedition.

I am a fan of going ice fishing, and riding into camp that is only accessible during the winter by tracked vehicle. I get over 35-45, I slow down. I enjoy the ride and the fun begins when the flag goes up on the ice trap.
Love ice fishing as well, the expedition is definitely checking the boxes man.

For utility I have used a 94 elan, 98 tundra and a 07 sks Polaris.
For early and late season, climbing over brush, operating in mud, crossing shallow creeks, climbing over stumps and rocks busting trails,trapping and hunting, the elan is the clear winner in my book. Bogie wheels, small, light, 250 fan cool, tiny price tag, huge reliability, easy to service.
I do wish they'd make the elan 300ss again ,small, nice and light and less to make but this does have my attention.
I think it s the best one in the ski doo line up this year 👌
Great walkaround. Please make your ride review as indepth as possible as I think this sled is quite unique. A review of the expy sport g4 with 900 would be cool, too.
The expedition line is extremely versatile. The ultimate crossovers, in my opinion. Kind of wish they would make a more extreme, "sport," though.
My first sled was a Nordic when I was a kid!

Very good review, only one mistake, the 4-stroke 900 ACE and 900 ACE Turbo do come with a push-button reverse (electromechanical reverse), not a reverse position on the transmission knob. Thanks!

I totally agree with the touring, these 20 wides are far superior for 2 up touring just for stability alone. And the storage is obviously a big bonus

You re right, in northern Qc and Labrador, every family has an expedition or a skandic. Last year, the 24inch expedition was the biggest seller in this area. I really like this new expedition. CAN we say it S a kind of 20inch Backcountry?
Soo tempted to trade my bc-xrs in. The hardest part for me is the bow legged seating position. I cant stand the wide tunnel as it KILLS my knees. Maybe I will come find you riding around some day Mark and bug you to try it.
I love this sled.....just snow checked the Summit X with expert package to ride with my son in the mountains, but would prefer this sled. I had the 2010 Grand Touring LE back in Ontario, but would totally get this sled back home now. Windshield and gauge package is a bit ridiculous.
Love those 20” inch track machines! I wish someone would test them in serious powder to see how they climb and compare to each other.

How would you compare this machine with the SWT Skandic, for the deep snow flottation? I understand that there is no comparison with the fun factor, but I own the 2017 Skandic SWT, and am amazed at the deep snow abilities...

Looks cool. Not so nuts about the colour its a utility sled. Keep it basic like black or charcoal grey. And what about a bigger windshield like the skandic? Just an observation but is the rear bumper capable of a hitch?? And why no hitch?? Isnt that the purpose of a utility sled? Looks more like a utility crossover than utility.

RER (engine) reverse is a good thing, the electric motor controlled reverse is problematic. Could of used this sled in Gaspe this past week. Very intriguing for an East Coast, Northern P.Q. / Ontario touring adventure sled.
Skidoo needs to do something about the vibration coming from that motor. The windscreen was shaking like a Harley Davidson's at idle, doesnt look good on a brand new sled.

When ski Doo came out with expedition extreme. It caught ski Doo off guard. Up in Canada they sold them out and they didn't built enough of them in that first year. That market was being ignored. People up there wanted a utility sled with a big motor and finally ski Doo offered them. Ask your self why ski Doo kept offering tundra extreme? It was utility sled can be a play sled. I like to have expedition extreme.
I like these videos better than the overedited, overcommercialized slick stuff we see. But that aside. Nice sled. It does seem to be a bit of a rattler though. Lots of plasticy noise on startup and idle. The flipup backside is nothing new, Cat did that on their utility sleds years ago. For some reason they stopped doing that, I think. Dunno why.

If I wanted someone to narrate the spec sheet I'd turn on the radio.
In sweden we call them "gubbskoter" but this looks so much cooler and and sportier that i think it deserves a different name... "sportgubbskoter" yeah that's right

SO does the camso 20" pre studded track work as well keeping it quiet ?? i dont want to stud a 20" track.... id like to swap the 1.8 for the WT camso 1.5 pre studded one.... any idea if its the same design??
UPDATE. I kept the 1.8 and used IGRIP screw in studs...WAY BETTER than regular studs, they went right in and will make this track unstoppable.

Let's keep our fingers crossed they are even coming out with new sleds.
But based on what we saw from Arctic Cat, don't expect much besides a "new" 50/50 crossover sled.

Sean Nelson oh Yamaha stated that they are still going to be in the sled business they said they have something big for 2020
Football 63 don’t bet on it. Yamaha doesn’t manufacture any sleds aside from a throwback sled from the 80’s. Yamaha is just going to offer 4-stroke versions of Arctic Cat sleds.

You have to read digital and glance at analog. Digital sucks. Windshields keep your chest warm and your ride enjoyable
I agree. Not sure why they all think we want to read the numbers. Quick glance at a needle then you can look forward again.

I still like better my 1968 Olympic Ski-doo. I mix the oil and gasoline very well and then I am off to the trails !
I want a sled for my wife that she won’t tip over easily. She’s about as uncoordinated as they get. The 600 might be a good choice.

Apparently you haven't had your hands on a new sled...it take 20 minutes of removing plastic before you can even see the top of the cylinders! No more installing a new spark plug on the trail! So far 5k miles in 2 years on my 850 and no plug needed...phew!
@@jay101379 .. So my friend up North just told me .. panels out the ass. Whose brilliant idea was that? I could see four-cycle engines but two-cycle engines going thousands of miles without new plugs .. okie dokie. Hopefully it's still easy though to get to the belts.
Fortunately belts are no problem! Almost as easy as the old sleds! Direct injection, much cleaner burning and a very refined oil have made the 2 strokes pretty darn efficiant...fouling plugs is no where near as common as it used to be!

My friend stayed in the Chicago area after college but I went to Florida. We have jet skis. I miss going to the UP and northern Wisconsin.
