    Have a 2017 Ski Doo Exhibition Extreme, I also use it for backcountry and ice fishing in Ontario - Lake Superior; on Black Bay ( where I have a cabin ) and in Mountain Bay
    I bought it used in 2020.
    A negative is if ya park it outside and it dips below zero it will not start. No pull cord ( not too intelligent ).
    So I am limping along right now with a plug in battery blanket. And a battery charge unit which I give the battery more volts.
    It has a 800 e tech liquid cooled motor.
    This snowmachine is a beast and oftentimes I look at it as a all terrain vehicle that could pull a pickup out of the ditch in low gear.
    I have gotten it stuck 2 xs this winter opening my trails and I always keep a shovel on the side strapped in. This snow machine comes up and out of most predicaments of deep snow with a few scoops of the shovel.
    I pull usually one or more ice fishing houses on Lake Superior often and it’s power is amazing.
    I live in rural Two Harbors where Electro Forge is located and yes there racks are awesome.
    I however outfitted my SkooDoo with red Milwaukee tool chests ( many of them actually ) as they snap together and you can really keep organized
    The bottom crate is where my rope and winch are located.
    Next box is a completely enclosed tool chest , then snapping into that comes a cooler on one side and on the other a soft side cooler for my fish finder equipment.
    So everything is organized and snaps together and rides back behind like a dream.
    I will try and find a picture….

      that first point is why i went with a Polaris titan, i just cannot understand why they are phasing out pull cords on sleds. -35 on the lake alone with a dead battery = a bad time.

    Really i Have had Several Fan Cooled snowmobiles that have lasted just as long if not longer then liquid cooled snowmobiles plus nice about fan cooled no liquide system to worry about leaking coolant all over the ice and then causing your sled to over heat

    • @SuperiorAngling
      @SuperiorAngling  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ducksp6405 we have put about 300 miles on it so far - Slush, snow, ice, and i cant think how a machine could get better. Always tow about 200 pounds when ice fishing and we havent even come close to getting stuck. The 4 stroke version is a lot quieter, a buddy has one. Both are great sleds. From an engine standpoint, i dont know much regarding the differences in longevity etc but the sound/smell/look/feel of the 850 etec is pretty wicked, I will say that. ha.

      @@SuperiorAngling All good to hear! I'm leaning towards either the SE or LE Expedition with the 900 Ace turbo. It all depends on what Ski-doo releases next month for the 2024 season.

  • @3-EnglishLabs
    @3-EnglishLabs ปีที่แล้ว +9

    I agree with the machine. However the 850 is a two stroke. Powerfull yes, but you're not going to get the longevity like a 4-stroke (like the 900) or unless an engine overhaul is on the list. Also you'd also have to add 2-stroke oil to your belt collection. Wide track is a must!

    • @SuperiorAngling
      @SuperiorAngling  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment! We usually upgrade equipment after 2-3 years anyways so 5-10 years of longevity isn't too much of a concern at this time.

      New 2 strokes have

    • @FYM555
      @FYM555 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The nice thing about 2 smokes is if you feel guilty beating on just take the jugs off and slap a couple new pistons in it and back in the game. If you know what you're doing it'll take an hour at most.

    • @xGR1MxREAPERx
      @xGR1MxREAPERx ปีที่แล้ว

      I disagree. 850 is better as it starts better in cold weather and they both can go 7500-8000 miles easy. The rebuild is 5x more expensive on the 4 stroke and you have to rebuild the turbo every 5000 miles they say which is a couple hundred bucks. So all in all it’s a wash for rebuilding. Injector oil is barely used when your doing this kind of stuff. 1/4-1/2 throttle most of the time maybe 3/4 every now and then. The belt life on the 850 is 10000x better Lol. The 900 turbo and turbo R blow a belt every 2000-3000 miles at the very most as the belts get way too hot on the 4 strokes for some reason. Our dealership is full of these 900 r skidoos every year with people yelling as they are buying their 3rd $250 belt of the year.

    • @3-EnglishLabs
      @3-EnglishLabs ปีที่แล้ว

      @xGR1MxREAPERx Is this not a fishing show? When did we get into turbos? You're talking about a racing turbo sled in an ice fishing review. As far as rebuilds go, I can show you several 1200 GSX 4-strokes with 20K+ on them, and they weren't rebuilt. If you're gonna be talking trail riding, I don't think a 20" track is the ideal sled for cornering in the trails. Do you need a 900 Ace Turbo R 180HP engine to tow your shack? NO, you don't. I've never had an issue with my 4-stroke failing to start. However, if a person prefers smelling like a 2-stroke engine and enjoys carrying 2-stroke oil with them, so be it.

    That snowmobile with 0 of your accessories is 720 lol.. my neighbor has one and we had a bet and took his and my sleds to a cat scale. His with full tank of oil and fuel was 720 and my 850 backcountry was 571 full oil and gas. Yours has all that crap on it also which is probably another 150lbs lol. Your sled without you on it is close to 1000lbs the way you have it setup depending what you have in that box. Crazy how heavy those are

      @SuperiorAngling Same. Have some buddies that went out last year and a heavy ice fog rolled in. There was no snow on the ice to find their old tracks. Guess it got a little hairy as they were circling and circling, trying to find their way back. I can only imagine how bad it would be on Superior if that happened.

    I've been looking at getting one of these sleds. Do you think the 600 etec would be enough power? It'd be nice to save a little money but I'm worried it'd be a bit underpowered. What's your experience with the 850?

    • @crispyfishstick
      @crispyfishstick ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely. I use a '16 600 carb with plenty of gear and am able to cruise wherever. Until the snow gets really deep and powdery, it's perfect. After that just takes a little more consideration and throttle control. You won't get the same flotation as a 20" wide track, but if you're realistic about the conditions you'll encounter, you can definitely save a TON of money.
