    Great video Dan. I agree shaft is so important. Unfortunately not all Titliest customers are treated like you. I was fitted for a tsi 3 with a tensai blue 55 stiff at a Titliest fitting day at a local range. They used beaten up range balls.
    Purchased a tsi3 driver and tsi2 3 wood. The driver was problematic from day 1. I had a high right , 1 or 2 drives a round that killing my scoring. The treatment by Titliest when I contacted them after about a week was initially to purchase a heavier head weight. In the end I found a heavier shaft myself (tensai 65 blus stiff) to try at a local club.
    Eventually I was offered a fitting at st Ives, 5 months later and I was never given any indication by customer services that Titliest would change the shaft despite extensive contact.
    The tensai 65 was better and eventually I was offered a replacement shaft. Came a bit late for me, I got so frustrated waiting I wrapped my £500 driver around a tree. Titliest make good products but treat normal customers terribly.

    I got fitted for a TSR 2 last week and got it yesterday. Went straight out on the course with it and it was fabulous.
    Ended up with a 50 gram shaft (10 grams lighter than my old Callaway driver) in regular on a B4 setting. I have added 10/12 yards but the dispersion was ridiculously good and a huge improvement.
    Cost a fortune but as golf is my main hobby it's worth it.
    Staggered how good this club is and how well fitted I was.
    By the way, great swing Dan

    I thought it was crazy how much difference a shaft can do🤣 I bought the old rogue on sale brand new. Played a year with it then went for a fitting to find the correct shaft. The difference between different shaft when I was testing it was so big. The fitter dialed it in pretty quickly what length of shaft I needed. Tried a few different ones. Then it was on the weight and where on the shaft the flex was. Eventually found 3 that worked and it was just down to feel really after that. I wanted a tensi shaft but acctally when I tried a aldida rogue white shaft it just felt better and they both worked great. The aldida was cheaper so I bought that instead🤣 the driver I bought on sale for 200£ and the shaft cost me only 80£ (they had a sale on it) the fitting was free so pretty happy with the cost.
    Also tried the new drivers stealth, new rogue and all. I gained absolutely zero compared to my old rogue so no point in changing.

  • @kingly71
    @kingly71 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    think you have the right approach, all else equal go with the longest... but its close enough that if you liked the Hzrdus or the Tensei more as far as comfort, strike, etc. just go with the combo you like swinging the most

  • @Bobopotamus
    @Bobopotamus 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Dan, the only thing that I saw was your dispersion was much better with the AD UB then it was with the other 2. ou were at 10.4R with the UB, 10.5R with the Tensei And 2.5R with the Hazrdus. But when you look at them individually all of your shots with the UB were to the right with one to the left the other two you were going both right and left in both directions. So once you set up for your shot with the UB you'll be much more consistent than setting up for a shot with the other 2 and not quite sure if it's going to go left or right. I think the UB will end up being a much better shaft for you and much more consistent. Just a thought.

    Pretty surprised they didn’t mess with the weight in the head. I tried all the shafts and they were all pretty similar but when they added +4g weight into the head that was the magic recipe. I can feel the head more and know where the face is. My accuracy got a LOT better; that little weight in the head made a huge difference. They have all kinds of diff weights. Maybe mess around with it. The feel also changed for the better for me

    • @locobenno9435
      @locobenno9435 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree Jacob, I was fit last year for my driver and after trying a bunch I landed on the TSi3, and my fitter didn't play with the weights either even though I was calling out other driver models for being "head heavy" during the fitting. 4 grams can make a really big difference to a golf club. Fitters have all the tech at hand yet aren't utilising it to its full potential, shame really

    I went for a fitting on Wednesday and was almost identical in findings.. I tried Tensei black, Hazardous (which was awful for me) and the AD iB (6 - 60g) gained 5mph ball speed against other shafts and my Ping G410 but more impressive was on average 10pm ball speed from around 150 to 160 and a gain of average 10 yards carry.. I went with the idea I would prefer the TSR 3 but found the 2 was by far the best.. only downside to the whole fitting was the jump from £525 to £700 in price for the AD shaft… need to sneak it past the wife if I buy it, unless I mysteriously win a DHG media prize draw 🙈🙈😂😂

      I did get a TSI3 with an xstiff and i play only stiff, also the shaft for the TSI is longer than my 915 and it was a recipe for disaster. I could not hit the ball well at all. I opted for a 3wood for all but two holes. I will be switching shafts though

    • @M82RKY
      @M82RKY ปีที่แล้ว

      True….but very wrong at the same time.
      If you know the flex you need, thats only half the battle! Flex point is super important too.
      I fit into a firmer Stiff, not XS but something with a higher kick point, a low kick point sends my ball up to the moon with a club face 28* at impact, that isn’t a swing problem, I get lessons….its a shaft and head loft problem only spotted with a fitting.

    • @holmer9413
      @holmer9413 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@M82RKY I'm not saying you can't gain from getting fitted. What I'm saying is most golfers would get a better return on their investment with a couple half hour swing lessons and a few hours practice than they will see with a shaft that's better suited to them.
      Flex, flex point, lie angle all make a difference but a better swing is still going to score better.

    The dispersion is better with the graphite design, in that with the other 2 your misses were roughly 50/50 L&R, the GD shaft you only missed 1 left. The GD shaft has basically eliminated the left side of the course and a few yards longer. Think that's conclusive enough Dan, that's the shaft for you 👍

    Great video. Exactly what i hoped to find. Have had both the TSR 2 and 3 heads with various lofts amd shafts. All are low dispersion and long, but low launch. Looking for higher launch angle in a shaft. You demo very little difference in all three but you didnt discuss shaft weight or swingweight? Also, theres no chance of me investing $379 for a GD shaft after paying $500 for the driver, esp with basically no benefit. I am shocked you are staying with GD shaft.

    Took me a minute to dial in the TSR2 from the SIM1… tried a bunch of shafts and was overdrawing the ball with a little lower flight… put in an old Fubuki V (some say the Aldila Ascent is a repainted Fubuki V)… ABSOLUTELY BOMBS!!!!! The shafts really do make a difference… with that said, a ridiculously expensive shaft doesn’t always mean it’s better for you. Find what shaft works for you, feels good and you can get comfortable with looking down at each round.

  • @briarmeadow

    I went in for a driver fitting today - first time ever for a driver. Confessions, I usually have a look around for a model a couple years old on sale, make sure it has a stiff shaft, 10.5* of loft and is nice looking overall. Make a couple swing to see how it feels in hand and head to the register to cough up some $$$. After watching your video Dan (and a few others), I felt compelled to stop doing that and go in for a proper fitting.
    Prior to going in to the shop, I had 3 newer drivers in mind; rogue st, stealth and tsr2 (i like ping but the turbulators, or whatever they call them, put me off). I really thought the rogue st max was going to be the best fit but it wasn't. AND . . as we went thru various heads and shafts it became obvious it was time for me to move to a regular flex shaft (getting older). I grudgingly worked thru the reg flex shaft / head loft combo's and my assumptions were wrong and wrong again. I needed less loft due to too much backspin. It was costing me a lot of yardage. And when it came to a head that i was hitting most consistent, no contest, it was the TSR2 9*. This head combined with the Tensei blue 55 in reg flex gave me a beautiful ball flight with a carry in the low 230's and total distance knocking hard on the door of 260. And it felt great to hit.
    My grumpiness at moving down the line of shaft flex was supplanted by a, "Wow, this is sooooo much better". And even better than that, I know that the TSR2 / Tensei combo we came up with is what works best for me. It was worth the extra time and effort.
    Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Two thumbs up for you, your sidekicks Bernie and Jordan, as well as the rest of your guests that visit. Well done.

    All very interesting Dan. Not a Titliest fan tbh, but the new one does sound good. Obviously there are players who will spend £529 on the new titliest driver and will benefit from a fitting but for me a gain of maybe 5 yards off driver is not enough for the outlay. I am not saying for some that extra 5 yards isn't a good thing but for me it's about bang for buck. The whole fitting process with the guys from titliest looks top notch trying out usually high upcharge shafts for not much of an upcharge is for some a great saving.

    Was fitted earlier this year into Rogue Max and a GD XC 6s. Phenomenal…. When I started hitting it, I had to swing at 90% to be able to time the delivery but as I started to get more and more comfortable with it, I can now go after it when I want to.
    The head and the shaft brought spin down considerably and I’ve hit some of my longest drives ever this year. (Particularly into wind ! No more balloon balls)

    Used my current shaft, GD XC, for my fitting and saw great numbers. None of the current offerings could match. Was looking for extra forgiveness over TSI3 with 2, was pleasantly surprised.

      They nailed the look of the 2 this year. Much closer to the 3's pear shape. TSi2 looked too much like a Callaway Max driver.

    Have gone through a fitting and later demoed the TSR2 and TSR3 club heads a number of times. The feeling of stability and ball flight with both the Graphite Design Tour AD-DI and UB shafts is really something. I think for me it will be the Tour AD-DI 65!

    I dont understand club fittings, your ball is at 154 but playing 8.5/9 im at 168/170 playing 9 with a fitted shaft and thinking of adding more loft??
    My head hurts

      All depends about angle of attack and spin as to what loft is correct for you 👍🏻

    Nice vid. These fitting vids are a real eye opener and show just how good the fitters are. It's good to see the differences in performance out of them shafts even though they are very similar but it highlights little tweaks that can be made. That DG shaft looks really nice. Keep up the good work DHG

    Be very careful not to become a shaft snob the fact is on any given day it will change dramatically I have tested cheap shafts and they blow away expensive shafts on a given day. Please beware the expensive shafts are 20$ cheap are 10$ it’s ridiculous what is going on
