The fact that someone made a whole analog horror series based on people accidentally falling in the water at the end of salmon run shift and being left behind
My theory on the grizzco tapes is that Kaia decided to do overtime but because she was alone, the salmonids dragged her into the water and she saw cohozuna before she died.
My biggest complaint with big runs is how casual they seem. Deep Cut is just like "oh hey go protect the town or something, you might get a cool trophy" and "can we steal this fully sentient member of this tribal species and keep it as a pet?" when the whole thing is some insane biblical level event prophesied ages ago in that one scroll you find in Splatoon 2. You'd just think people would me more scared
I do agree that I'd like there to be a more noticeable impact in game for players to enjoy but lore wise it does make some sense. Part of the reason Grizzco exists (as a business, not so much with what Mr. Grizz is doing) is to control the Salmonid hoards as they used to attack the mainland during their migrations. So having Salmonid invading certain parts of the world is probably common place for Inkling society. It's probably the same as a severe weather warning etc. where it's definitely scary and dangerous for them but it's something they've dealt with for generations.
To be fair, I'm pretty sure any normal civilian would outright call you "fucking insane" if you tried to tell them about those sunken scrolls I think Chuggaconroy also said something about the Inklings not being arsed about reading some ancient nonsense
@@baimhakani "not being arsed" ? More like probably can't Iirc I thiiiiink a dev in one of those JP interviews or whatever that "maybe some of them can't even read, they just use letters as an aesthetic choice" The squids are just not really that bright ig, dunno about octos tho. Anyways this is why the jelly hivemind runs everything and inklings do not
I feel that Kaia’s incident in the Grizzco tapes might be the first encounter with a King Salmonid. Could explain why they didn’t see it coming and it resulted in her death. Also explains why they were also so hush hush about it, not just cause a young employee died on the job but because they also couldn’t explain what the hell took her
imagine being Kaia then suddenly a roar is heard with no one around and the largest salmonid you've ever seen just rises up and annihilates you , that would be terrifying
Imagine how nightmarish it would be to explain to people that there are now these gigantic monstrous Salmonids. It’s easier to say a normal Salmonid maybe a boss took her life in order to decrease the chance of a big public panic.
"would've turned 15" That means that everyone had given up as they are using past tense, This is just a theory but grizzco might actually know what happend to Kaia, They just lost all hope, They knew she wasn't coming back.
@@zerogyoro4521 nobody I was just saying what I thought about the scene cuz that's what this comment was about. And who asked you to ask me that said "damn thats crazy but i dont remember askin"
The reason Kaia was born in the 14th century is because splatoon actually takes place millions of years after the extinction of humans, so for the inklings and octolings it could likely be their 14th century currently rather than being meant to reflect it being a glitch or anything story related Edit: the SPD is mostly likely referring to a Splatville Police Department rather than a Splatoon department
Each game takes place in it's irl year but in the Splatoon era, splatoon 1 is 2015, Splatoon 2 is 2017 I think and so on, years passes by same as the real world
Isn't it only about 12,000 years after Humanity's extinction? There's that one scroll from Splatoon 1 that has someone with a Wii U and it's dated about 12,000 years old.
I gotta give massive props to the way the screaming was done in tape 3. There really isn’t any screaming voice clips in splatoon, and the splatoon voice filter is very hard to remake. The device’s pictures and audio recordings in tape 3 is really really cool too.
I think it was done using voice AI of an inkling girl. I believe this because in the recent video that was released for this series, Mr Grizz is talking to someone on the phone in full vocal sentences, in perfect replication to how his in game blips sounded. The acting itself that went behind it was pretty great though, they really captured the realistic sudden panic and desperation for a scene like that
I’m surprised that someone actually did this, but then again, Splatoon has bizarre and horrific lore in the series if you look closely. Humanity wipes itself out and those left behind to continue life decides to wipe out the advanced ocean life instead. With the means of doing so being… unholy.
Nobody’s talking about the very clear salmonid calls that are faintly heard while Kaia is taken. Those are *snatcher* calls. Snatchers, which have the strength to hold dozens of golden eggs (inklings and octolings can only hold one). Snatchers, which are important to remember when collecting eggs from bosses (the bosses section of the video that was skipped)
If your talking about the purple ones (I haven’t played in a while) then no because they have fins and they don’t carry them by holding them like a cup they more make a u shaped to carry
@@saddiqfogle5793 chums have fins but they can grip onto their frying pans just fine. Same with the other lesser salmonids, and drizzlers who can hang onto their umbrellas
@@roo.pzz4380 there is something about something that simple, the desperate screams of someone who does not want to die, sends a shiver down my spine, makes me wish i could have saved her, and maybe be there for her 15th birthday, is scary but also sad
18:55 Not sure if anybody's commented on this, but that image is a male salmon in the aftermath of spawning. Their bodies break down while they're still alive and they end up dying after successfully fertilizing eggs. This one looks to have maybe half decomposed, or a bird got to it first before anything else, judging from the lack of eyes
Hearing Kaia screaming while a snatcher was dragging her into the water gave me chills. Knowing nobody would find her body, if she died, is even creepier.
a few things from the grizzco tapes I needed to add bc it would kill me if ppl didn't know these - In 8:00 she is born 13XX because it took 12k years for squids to evolve into inklings, and 1k years to develop into the society they are in now. - In 18:45 if you look closely you can see a salmonid in the picture. It looks limp and likely dead. - In 21:35 It isn't warabi from diss pair. Warabi is an octoling, and this warabi has pointed ears, meaning that they are an Inkling. - In 23:55 the low pitched horn you mentioned is the xtrawave horn. My assumption is xtrawaves weren't well known yet and they left marooner's bay without Kaia, not knowing about the Cohozuna. - In 25:40 the person talking isn't Kaia, it's Mr. Grizz. "even a fake sky would suffice" is referring to Alterna, where they built panels to simulate the real world's sky while they were underground. - Her name is pronounced (Ky-Yuh She-Rue-Ee) because It's likely a Japanese name and that is how you would pronounce it. I've only watched the grizzco tapes so I don't know anything about the big run employee handbook so this is all referring to the grizzco tapes
The salmonid isn’t just dead it’s cut in half and looks to be covered in yellow ink or it could more than likely just be the shine of its scales the salmonid is also missing it’s eyes seen as when you turn the brightness up once the image was brightened on this video up you can see a dark spot on where the eye should be that could be censorship but I highly doubt that it is
"Somthings in the water." Im suprised noone has pointed out inklings cant be near water as it kills them. in fact in like instant acid to them. Kaias wepons and stuff may be down there but not her.
It’s not necessarily toxic to them per se, since they can somewhat submerge their legs into water but they can’t be fully submerged in water. This is because they’re bodies are entirely made from ink from the evolution process of inklings and octolings. And water and ink don’t really mix lol
@@vomit_ghost so wait so how do they like reincarnate when they fall into the water? Cause in game when you get splatted would see the inkling spirit floating back to the spawn point and then get covered in their own ink and they're just fine, so how in the world are they able to do that in general
@@raysyndrome7209 That’s a good question which I sadly don’t have the answer to, I apologize. You might be able to find out how they’re able to reincarnate somewhere online or in another TH-cam video tho, I’m sure there’s a full explanation on it !
@@raysyndrome7209 My best guess is that there's designated zones in which respawning is possible/allowed. They definitely had to imput that into turf wars, considering the OG turf wars likely had many fatalities on both sides. I also think that Callie often saves us/Neo Agent 3 whenever we fall in the water or get consumed by the fuzzy ooze. The only instance we've seen where we don't immediately respawn is Grizzco, but even still they gives us life preserves as a partial respawn. I vaguely reading something official about the respawners in Splatoon 3.
These tapes were AMAZING! There was one detail missing though, and it was that player in the life preserver always super jumps with their team, and their life preservers are always within bounds, even when players jump into the water. Maybe this takes place inside an alternate Splatoon world, and that the life preservers are made to automatically super jump after each shift after this incident.
@@aqua2k210 yeah And it doesn't even matter if she had one or not anyways If you jump or fall into the water at/after shift end, the respawn animation. Takes priority over the super jump animation and you don't go back with the rest of the crew, you get left behind (not actually since it's just a game but yk what I mean)
The analog horror for Splatoon reminds me how at the end of shifts people sometimes jump into the water to celebrate... Then the idea of the BIG Runs killing or harming Inklings and Octos really shows how dangerous the world must be. Considering they have frying pans, I don't think locking the windows is the best idea as in the call we heard glass breaking. I found this very interesting though, thank you and the algorithm for introducing this to me.
Even though Splatoon isn't my type of game, I'm a sucker for analog horror. So, thank you Sunflower for bringing this to my attention. (Still waiting on that Sunflower Iceberg👀👀)
It's after watching this video that I realize the salmonoids and sketchy business practices of Grizzco make for great horror material. Because of it, I was able to come up with an AU where Salmonoids completely overrun Inkopolis and Splatsville just now! Just imagine Inkling and Octoling survivors living amongst the flooded remains of their home as they try to avoid boss salmonoids patrolling the streets and skies like aliens.
But how do you compile the fact, that Dj Octavio and the Salmonides kinda work together? As far as I know, Octavio gave them Salmonides some of the machines for their self defense.
Something I want to point out: It is shown that when Inklings fall in water, they die. Now, normally this isn't an issue as ,normally, they simply respawn. From the tapes, however, it seems to show Kaia falling onto the water at the very end of the shift and being left behind, unable to respawn. This begs the question, what happened to her if she can't respawn, does something just have her soul? Is she just simply dead?
I'm not too sure what happens if they are unable to respawn. I personally believe if they aren't able to respawn within a period of time the soul fades away. Basically forever dead.
Well it's clear the waters are different around the salmonoids used as ink. Maybe it's different than water... with a respawn point nearby they can get out but if one is out of range theyre... stuck. Drowning.
In salmon run the life preserver, the floatie thing on your back, holds your soul in the very middle of itself with a puddle of ink for it to sit in after you get splatted. I'm not sure if this is true in S3 but in S2 you can see the soul jump around in it after you get splatted, I think it only happens if you call for help though? If Kaia got splatted/killed her soul would be in there.
Took me a bit to realize this is not canon to the game and it was just a story made by a youtuber but DANG its so well done and I was actually horrified at some parts oml
I have a few bits of info to add about the recording at the end of the third Grizzco tape, mostly involving how it relates to the in-game experience. Right before we hear distressed voices coming from the crew, either from Kaia or her team, we can distinctly hear the voice of a Snatcher salmonid. Normally they are there to take golden eggs that haven't been delivered to the basket, and they do not attack or interact with the team. But no salmonids are supposed to appear at the end of wave three, so clearly this is not a typical event. The location of the event, Marooner's Bay, is a map available in both Splatoon 2 and 3, so we are not able to discern from that map if the appearance of salmonids after the third wave is related to a king salmonid appearance. I think this map choice is intentional, to further obscure information. However, the horn that we hear calling the end of the third wave is typically distorted when a king salmonid appears, repeatedly swapping left ear and right ear noises. I cannot recognize the low "horn" that we hear after the normal horn, unless it is an edited sound. But it could be another form of distortion, as even though the distortion is consistent in-game, I wouldn't know what else to call that sound other than some kind of horn. So maybe in this story, there is a different horn to warn people of the arrival of a king salmonid? I'm not sure. Next sound I wanted to mention, during that same moment before Kaia disappears, you can hear the sound of the tides changing -- possibly rising. King salmonid fights do not change the tide; it remains consistent to the level of the third wave. So perhaps this is another change that is specific to this abnormal event? Lastly, the life ring that players use during salmon run waves are supposed to float to shore, allowing the player to return to where they last touched the ground before dying. This means Marooner's Bay, the location in which Salmon Runners are currently banned, would be the most likely location for Kaia to show up-- unless it is banned because they have surveillance watching the grounds for any sign of her. Because unless Kaia's life ring was damaged, she would have survived in the water after she was taken. This relates to the text seen at the end of the recording, especially "I am feeling every part of." Perhaps Kaia is being constantly revived and killed as the life ring attempts to save her...
We may be able to ascertain if this was Splatoon 2 or 3 by the fact that she was reported to have been trying to do overtime. If the Salmonoid King horn really did go off, and the rest of her crew was leaving, not expecting anymore work to do, then this may be sometime between 2 and 3, when Xtra Waves would begin occurring
3:39 It is, as you can hear Frye talking. Probably either just trying to do the broadcast as normal, asking what happened or indeed… panicking Honestly, these Grizzco videos have has so much creepypasta potential, I love it ‘Redacted’ made me cry, especially when it mentioned her birthday, SHE WAS ONLY A KID! 21:35 “Warabi” You mean like, Warabi from DISS PAIR?!
I love how it stays in the lore of whatever inkling you play as (not including agent 8) is 14 years old as you play. Agent 3 was 14 in splat 1 Agent 4 was 14 in splat 2 Agent 3 neo is 14 in splat 3
@@editordimentio Speaking of which, I actually have a theory about Side Order. The octoling we see, might NOT actually be Agent 8, due to her tentacles being different. Remember what some people said about her being a younger Marina? I actually think she could be a possible relative OF her that we sort know about until now. Like a possible cousin or made even a little sister. She could also be the reason for the corals all over Inkopolis. She actually has a special power that allows her to magically grow coral anywhere. Well, basically, coral powers. Similar to that of Isabela Madrigal from the movie Encanto, only with coral, rather than flowers and greenery. (Sorry, that was the only example I could think of). This octoling’s coral also acts as a a protective shield against any serious threat, like that sinister thing we see in the trailer and she is using it to protect Inkopolis Square. The reason I also think she could be a relative of Marina, is because at one point in the trailer, you can hear Marina’s voice echoing. Yes I know, Marina is also really close with Agent 8, but the octoling in the trailer looks so different. Her hair almost looks a similar colour, that plum purple colour and Agent 8 has cerise hair and it doesn’t make much sense why they’d change it. She also likes a little bit like Marina on one of the drawings that flash on the screen, specifically the one where it kilos like she’s sitting on the floor in a white room.
@@megansutton9699 nah I think the playable character in side order is a clone of agent 8. Like how lil judd is a clone of judd and how it's insinuated in the sunken scrolls that the marigolds are all clones. It would make sense if lil judd is the villain for the dlc.
Im not sure if anyone brought this up, but what if Kaia managed to survive and ended up in Alterna??? Maybe the "Even a fake sky would suffice" hints at that!
note that Kaia's co-workers supposedly didn't report her missing, and we later learn that (in this version of the Splatoon universe) Grizzco employees are urged not to report anything to the police.
23:58 Here We Can Probably See Kaia Being Dragged By A Salmonid Into The Water And Drowned While Submerged Due To Some Noises Of Salmonid But Can Hear Her or him Trying To Be Let Go By The Salmonid But Failed..
I think its safe to assume that Kaia had been eaten by the salmonids, the way Grizzco covered it up like it was a murder, and the lack of information being to a point where She might as well be considered Dead, the fact that she dissapeared and will likely never reappear during a Big Run. makes it pretty obvious that The Salmonids ate her or Fed her to a king salmonid (like Cohozuna)
In both videos, It shows the dark reality of grizzco industries, and it shows how Mr.Grizz was a real villain all along, And for the poor inklings girl, kai, what i can hear from the video record, it is sound like a salmonids taken her into the depths of the sea, for what i really imagine that the salmonid drowned her and killed her, and they eats her or feed to the king Salmonids, the something in the water, i believe it is mean king salmonid, cohozuna and horrorboros, what is scary that there is more of them under the sea, waiting to be revealed, you don't know how many are there. The second is that it feels like an actual big run event, i believe. But the first one, it doesn't feel like a big ship, but a horror case of the missing person and the dark side of grizzco industries. If anyone said what is scary ? This video
@Teagan yes, I didn't mention that in my comments yet, but in this case, the missing cases are probably dead already, and boy, let me tell you, this record and the scream of the poor inklings going to haunt me in the sleep...
@Teagan also my comments aren't finished yet, I had to mention that the octolings girl went missing because salmonid invaded her house and killed or splat her and ate her. This is what I add up because salmon eat squid as a food source, and this is what I believe this octolings and inklings for what I see is probably being eaten by them. The story of missing a person during the big run is the same, but the inklings one is just straight f*** up. Mr.Grizz, who is the owner of the grizzco industries, was the truth villains all this time. Also, there is an error in my comments, I suppose to said " big run" not a "big ship" And is this a part of splatoon lore or a fan made?
With the big run employee handbook, in the recording where the octoling is struggling, you can distinctly hear the sounds of a Goldie As for Kaia falling in the water, it’s a jumble of sounds but the main one I took notice of was the frequent Snatcher chuckles Just figured to point it out in case it’s helpful later, sorry if anyone already discussed this
Thank you so much for looking at this sunflower! I want you to know I was in VC and started fucking screaming and giggling like a small schoolgirl when I saw this! (I have a video clip. I am shaking as I'm writting this.) This is definitively inspirping me to actually finish off the series now. College is just kicking my a$$.
the grizzco tapes are kinda mixed in terms of quality imo, there are some scenes where it feels like its trying to hard but then others where it absolutely knocks it out of the park with immersion like the interview clip. overall i like it alot :] (the employee handbook is just blatantly ripping off the mandela catalouge, so im not as impressed with that one personally)
Also, while I understand the ideas and stuff going into it, I have a bit of trouble taking it seriously due to it being the "Inklings" in game models with no real change.
phenominal work to both creators here, clips like kaia's screams as she sinks and the octoling fighting as salmonids break into her home instill a deep, unique dread that makes me tear up
I was kinda let down by big runs, no scary things, no lore, no nothing, those grizzco tapes is what I would have loved to be in big run. Edit: ZAMMMNNNN 250 LIKES Edit²:ZAMNNNNNNNNNNNN 420 LIKES LETS GOOOO
bro its a kid game, this goofy fun take on things is what splatoon is all about. I can see what youre saying, but at THIS level, thats too much for this
I have seen that big run thing. It would have been more fun for big run and what I thought the announcement would have been. That would have been great. The rest of those tapes I have seen but never gave them all that much thought. Mainly because they never really interested me. I’ve only just seen it as attempts for a Splatoon creepypasta. But big respect to the creator though for their imagination
What I find funny is that I watched the entirety of Blood C unphased but as soon as i hear a drowning inkling my brain decides that *that* is what's going to traumatize me lmao
@@DistressedCrab it's a *very* gorey anime. I don't think it's too bad, but definitely watch at your own risk if you don't like blood or people getting ripped apart.
24:10 I have a vague knowledge of splatoon lore and some gameplay but hearing those screams was _bone chilling_ . Props to the sound design for this bit!
I don’t think the thing that killed her was a king Salomonid, it would’ve just been a loss, I think it was something so frightening and so earth shattering for even grizzco they’re trying to cover up it all.
Maybe the prophesied pink fish that was said to be the Splatoon world’s Revelations? What I want to know is, if that’s the prophesied one, why did it arrive so randomly? Surely there’s usually a herald of horns with a Salmonid of that magnitude.
The clam protocol reminds me of the police protocol in Mandela catalog for the case of there being an alternate in the house, tell the caller there’s help (there never was) and to stay hidden
@@strangeactuallylegume one of the og analog horrors that got big. The clam protocol is like what the police in Mandela county, which is where the Mandela catalog takes place. Highly recommend it!!
when kaia was being taken, there was a bunch of snatcher noises (snatchers are the salmonids who take golden eggs back if theyve been left on the ground for too long) When the octoling was taken, there was the voice of a goldie (a rare boss salmonid that drops a lot more eggs than other bosses)
This just makes you realize how grim the grizzco job is in the game. You can get mauled by a bunch of salmons and your whole crew and nobody would even know what happenx
This all gave me goosebumps Now I just have new ideas to make something similar but without any experience in editing, audio editing and animation then it’s gonna be a while to make that come true I hope more of these come out because it gives splatoon more depth even if it’s non cannon
I noticed in the Big run Employee Handbook video, during the call between the now missing octo and police, you can hear not only her weapons, but the sound of a possibly younger octoling child crying and screaming during the fight. that terrifies me so much
Nope Both kinds of eggs are used for power sources Power eggs are likely unfertilized and probably could be treated like chicken eggs, though it's unlikely since they'd be more useful for power But golden eggs are fertilized, and when waves end the animation is of them hatching. The shells pop and the body inside is let out then they disappear immediately.
Yes it is, however when one does fall in, you can see them struggle for a few seconds before seemingly dissolving. What probably happened is either a snatcher (from what it sounds like) or a King Salmonid (likely Cohozuna) dragged her down, and during those moments we hear her screaming and pleading for help, are probably those few seconds in which she was able to live.
I love this splat analog horror it’s amazing and scary and somewhat real, I hope to see more and from what I can tell the picture is that of a salmon king (not horrorborros, but a salmon king body, an irl SK, and a horses head, wide head, weird lips, and a the body of a fish) this reminds me of a creature in Irish/Norse mythology a creature which drowned people or in this case inklings and octolings, and it had the the top half as a horse and the bottom as a fish, it was a deceiver, and I would assume this creature would be the megalodon of salmon, it’s a baby one which is how it might’ve taken kaia without giving away its big, maybe it’s a baby horrorborros that evolved, or even worse and new type of SK, or like we saw in the ending of Splat 3 hero mode, it’s a baby salmon a small fry which turned into a beast to stop salmon run
I believe Kaia could be in the deep sea metro. In the comics (I’m not sure if they’re canon or not), Goggles falls into the water after a salmon run shift where he ends up in the deep sea metro. Also, the “fake sky would suffice” quote could also be talking about the deep sea metro because there is an absence of the sky. This might be a situation similar to Agent 8’s where Kaia could be stuck in the deep sea metro and not able to get to Inkopolis or Splatsville due to the train system.
If I had to make an analogue horror for Splatoon, It would be where Someone random, Finds Callie's Hypno Shades after someone Messed with it, Put's The Shades on and Gets Mind hacked and Becomes the Best Elite Splatoon Player, Gets New Weird Powers that Manipulate Ink. But Sacrifices themself Mentally. For it.
I only though Fnaf VSH only exited to think their now making Childhood games into Horror Tapes The thumbnail for the mario one gives me chills when it says "it Hurts" and that makes me think about I dunno his deaths?
I very much like the concept of a Splatoon survival horror: you are alone in your house/condo in a suburban neighbourhood far from Inkopolis, and you must find a way to save/defend yourself and make your way to where other survivors are
the Kaia salmon run thing and other stuff like it actually scares me so much that if there was a not even frightening jumps care I'd immediately shit myself and wouldnt only never play salmon run again, but not sleep for a good 3 days

24:15 It's insane to me how something that isn't human can sound so much so with those horrific screams. Welp, this'll be something that echos in my mind every once in a while for like, the next five years lmfao
You know when I heard "Splatoon Analog Horror" I thought this was gonna be some edgy 14-year-old's attempt to be scary. This is so much better than I expected.
18:42 That is a corpse of a Salmonid and if you turn the audio in a spectrogram, it has the Grizzco logo upside down next to what says, "I'm feeling every part of it."
To the part of whatever took her is I’m pretty sure they are smallfrys and for the picture at 17:58 what I see is a angry chum and a regular looking salmon and ocean floor like rocks I hope this helped a little bit
Man I love analogue horror. Especially when it’s done with big companies desperately trying to hide something and every file or video drags you deeper into the rabbit hole. If anyone wants to read a good analogue horror story like this one I highly recommend looking up SCP-2316
The moment I saw the thumbnail I thought this was going to be a story about a splatsource member having problem's with it's life, or maybe the explanation of it's death, that would be cool but it'll be disturbing at the same time.
This Splatoon analog horror kinda feels like a mixed version of The Backrooms and The Mandela Catalog and I love it. falling in the water is the same concept as no clipping in The Backrooms
I feel like the thing that might’ve pushed or dragged Kaia to the water might be a snatcher do they salmonid noises also the horn could’ve also meant one of the first cohuzuna encounters which also means she could be feeling every part of the water during the encounter with the king salmonid. Another theory also includes the snatcher taking Kaia could be that salmonids are starting to experiment on inklings/octolings like how octarians started experimenting on inklings in the splat 2 scrolls. The picture at 18:02 is a salmon ripped apart
It should be noted in the 13XX thing is that not everyone uses the same type of calendar, and since Splatoon takes place long after the humans went extinct, 13XX may be referring to their own calendar system. Possibly using a similar BC/AD system because the series’ main events take place around around at least 2,000 years after the Mollusc Era, when I believe could be when a calendar could be considered. Splatoon’s timeline flows like ours, but not in the same year as us, as that would bring human technological advancement by the time of extinction into question. (seriously, a Wii U 10,000 years ago if Splatoon takes place from the 2010s to 2020s?)
18:47 my quick take on this image, i think thats kaia's dead body at the bottom of the see...just rotting away.. Or a mini boss salmon who ate kaia in the water and died..?
The CLAM protocol is a reference to the 911 operator Alternate training in Mandela Catalogue. In the video, operators are told to assure the caller that help will arrive, when it won't. They are told to wait until the caller stops screaming and keep their voice to a minimum, as to not let alternates get the operators as well.
When you think about it, a Big Rush event IS a horror scene. The whole point of salmon rush is to keep the solmonids from breaching the city (and getting paid along the way) While a Big Rush is on a normal multiplayer map, which are _IN THE CITY_
these video are so surprising horrifying, you even found allot of details that most would miss, but there is one you missed, when Kaia was taken you can hear the sounds of small frys or as they are commonly nick-named by players "the devil's spawn" (lol), so it is likely she was taken by small frys.
I caan see this branching beyond, and inspiring more animated horror elements being made by this alt world. The Grizzco Conspiracy. And considering how screwed up people can be...this would be perfect to have some nightmare fuel
Big Run should feel like a fucking threat to the world, not some public event. Not even Big Man seems too shook. It’s like it’s happened before. Has it…?
Thank you for this as 1, I can't read inkling text, and I think knowing adds another layer. And 2, I think I would've peed my pants if I watched this alone without someone pausing a little in between (this looked super cool, but I'm rlly bad with horror).
I think that The Grizzco Tapes storyline is “ that Kaia works overtime for Grizzco, and ends up getting captured and splatted by a King Salmonid, which ends up bringing her to Alterna, and so the Ikai team investigates the disappearance, and then that ends up playing on with the three volumes of The Grizzco Tapes, and then before the three volumes, the Big Run video times place.
Salmon return to their birthplace to reproduce. Salmonids could be converting inklings/octolings into salmonids. Which would be why Kaia is still alive. Love/hate the inklings because she's converted, but maintains memories. Conflict between new thoughts and memories.
The fact that someone made a whole analog horror series based on people accidentally falling in the water at the end of salmon run shift and being left behind
me falling into the water at the end of salmon run for the funny

You'd just think people would me more scared
I do agree that I'd like there to be a more noticeable impact in game for players to enjoy but lore wise it does make some sense. Part of the reason Grizzco exists (as a business, not so much with what Mr. Grizz is doing) is to control the Salmonid hoards as they used to attack the mainland during their migrations. So having Salmonid invading certain parts of the world is probably common place for Inkling society. It's probably the same as a severe weather warning etc. where it's definitely scary and dangerous for them but it's something they've dealt with for generations.

I gotta give massive props to the way the screaming was done in tape 3. There really isn’t any screaming voice clips in splatoon, and the splatoon voice filter is very hard to remake. The device’s pictures and audio recordings in tape 3 is really really cool too.

Knowing nobody would find her body, if she died, is even creepier.
a few things from the grizzco tapes I needed to add bc it would kill me if ppl didn't know these
- In 8:00 she is born 13XX because it took 12k years for squids to evolve into inklings, and 1k years to develop into the society they are in now.

I think it was confirmed a bit ago that water isn’t toxic or anything to the lings, they just can’t swim

Something I want to point out:
It is shown that when Inklings fall in water, they die.
They just die same as how salmons die without a respawn point
SAME LMAO
Probably either just trying to do the broadcast as normal, asking what happened or indeed… panicking

Agent 4 was 14 in splat 2
Agent 3 neo is 14 in splat 3

23:58 Here We Can Probably See Kaia Being Dragged By A Salmonid Into The Water And Drowned While Submerged Due To Some Noises Of Salmonid But Can Hear Her or him Trying To Be Let Go By The Salmonid But Failed..
I wonder if someone who does SFM or gmod to make an animation could or should do about Kaia. Like a story, maybe?
I think its safe to assume that Kaia had been eaten by the salmonids, the way Grizzco covered it up like it was a murder, and the lack of information being to a point where She might as well be considered Dead, the fact that she dissapeared and will likely never reappear during a Big Run. makes it pretty obvious that The Salmonids ate her or Fed her to a king salmonid (like Cohozuna)
In both videos, It shows the dark reality of grizzco industries, and it shows how Mr.Grizz was a real villain all along,
And for the poor inklings girl, kai, what i can hear from the video record, it is sound like a salmonids taken her into the depths of the sea, for what i really imagine that the salmonid drowned her and killed her, and they eats her or feed to the king Salmonids, the something in the water, i believe it is mean king salmonid, cohozuna and horrorboros, what is scary that there is more of them under the sea, waiting to be revealed, you don't know how many are there.
The second is that it feels like an actual big run event, i believe.
But the first one, it doesn't feel like a big ship, but a horror case of the missing person and the dark side of grizzco industries.
If anyone said what is scary ? This video
you do remember that the whole thing about inklings is that if they touch water, they die, right??

I hope more of these come out because it gives splatoon more depth even if it’s non cannon
I noticed in the Big run Employee Handbook video, during the call between the now missing octo and police, you can hear not only her weapons, but the sound of a possibly younger octoling child crying and screaming during the fight. that terrifies me so much
I didn't expected a splatton analog horror IST creepy and well made cool video bro
I always thought that golden eggs were like chicken eggs and inklings would cook them like regular eggs. E.g. scrambled sunnyside up etc.
Nope
Both kinds of eggs are used for power sources
Power eggs are likely unfertilized and probably could be treated like chicken eggs, though it's unlikely since they'd be more useful for power
But golden eggs are fertilized, and when waves end the animation is of them hatching. The shells pop and the body inside is let out then they disappear immediately.
I perfer scrambled eggs
I appreciate your work so much! Every upload makes me happy again❤
I thought inklings and stuff actually melted apart once they hit water, and it was deadly to them - is this not the case?
I think Jerm and Octa should collab cuz they could make it to where whatever happened to Kaia unleashes a beast/BIGgest run ever.
If I had to make an analogue horror for Splatoon,
It would be where Someone random,
Finds Callie's Hypno Shades after someone Messed with it,
Put's The Shades on and Gets Mind hacked and Becomes the Best Elite Splatoon Player,
Gets New Weird Powers that Manipulate Ink.
But Sacrifices themself Mentally. For it.
Genuinely can't wait for jerm to continue the Kaia tapes
""The last Extinction squad to come through this town went M.I.A. Gah, this place is a bloody battleground since they unearthed. Spectre 1, take this drill and destroy any hives on your way to the crater. Arm that nuke, then haul ass back here. Good luck gentlemen!""
God, i just got off a fight with Cohozuna and this just inmediately sent chills down my spine
Great vid!
lmao watching this got something else in my recommended 'BIG RUN 333% MAX HAZARD HORRORBORROS SWEEP'
18:42
That is a corpse of a Salmonid and if you turn the audio in a spectrogram, it has the Grizzco logo upside down next to what says, "I'm feeling every part of it."
This is why I love the splatoon and it's community. This game has such a good worldbuilding that it has endless room for imagination and storys.
To the part of whatever took her is I’m pretty sure they are smallfrys and for the picture at 17:58 what I see is a angry chum and a regular looking salmon and ocean floor like rocks
I hope this helped a little bit
18:56 That's a salmon.
Though very decomposing.
Likely to reference the K.S.
These are exactly what I wanted when the first Splatoon came out can't believe it's taken this long thanks for covering these
It should be noted in the 13XX thing is that not everyone uses the same type of calendar, and since Splatoon takes place long after the humans went extinct, 13XX may be referring to their own calendar system.
For the last time Im FINE, all i did was take a break.
18:47 my quick take on this image,
i think thats kaia's dead body at the bottom of the see...just rotting away..
Or a mini boss salmon who ate kaia in the water and died..?
he probably ate some parts and left the rest to rot
The CLAM protocol is a reference to the 911 operator Alternate training in Mandela Catalogue. In the video, operators are told to assure the caller that help will arrive, when it won't. They are told to wait until the caller stops screaming and keep their voice to a minimum, as to not let alternates get the operators as well.
5:10 - "We know that this emergency, because it says so" Amazing Logic
When you think about it, a Big Rush event IS a horror scene. The whole point of salmon rush is to keep the solmonids from breaching the city (and getting paid along the way)
While a Big Rush is on a normal multiplayer map, which are _IN THE CITY_
MatPat gonna have a field lesson about this.
he is now?
these video are so surprising horrifying, you even found allot of details that most would miss, but there is one you missed, when Kaia was taken you can hear the sounds of small frys or as they are commonly nick-named by players "the devil's spawn" (lol), so it is likely she was taken by small frys.
when it said “she would have turned 15” it struck something deep inside me. she’s literally supposed to be the same age as I am
I caan see this branching beyond, and inspiring more animated horror elements being made by this alt world. The Grizzco Conspiracy. And considering how screwed up people can be...this would be perfect to have some nightmare fuel
HOW THE FUCK DOES ONE MAKE A FUNNY LITTLE GAME WHERE SQUIDS BRUTALLY MURDER EACHOTHER (they fucking explode when they die) HORRIFYING
Same lmao 😭
Right? Like I get scared so easily, was doomed without someone pausing and sounding semi-casual
I think that The Grizzco Tapes storyline is “
that Kaia works overtime for Grizzco, and ends up getting captured and splatted by a King Salmonid, which ends up bringing her to Alterna, and so the Ikai team investigates the disappearance, and then that ends up playing on with the three volumes of The Grizzco Tapes, and then before the three volumes, the Big Run video times place.
Salmon return to their birthplace to reproduce. Salmonids could be converting inklings/octolings into salmonids. Which would be why Kaia is still alive. Love/hate the inklings because she's converted, but maintains memories. Conflict between new thoughts and memories.
If this was true. What if an inkling or octoling escaped halfway during conversion? SALMONLINGS COULD ACTUALLY BE A THING!!!!
I’m gonna have sooooo much fun making an OC with this.
👏😈
