    Thank you very much for the Re-Test. The EQA is not that well tested since the last years update to PSM motor. I got mine in March this year and compared to my last year EQA with ASM motor it also has the same behavior as you found out:
    1) big improvement in efficiency especially in lower speeds.
    2) limit to 100 kW charging instead of 113 kW leads to 2 min longer charging time 10-80%. Actually Mercedes has also changed the official communicated charging time from 30 to 32 mins 10-80. The higher energy input to the battery could be a result of it, as with slower charging the battery hits its maximum voltage later. Maybe they limited due to lifetime worries or they changed the supplier of the cells.

      @w0nd3rlu573r ปีที่แล้ว

      that, and with the bigger battery the overall gain for just 2 minutes more seems even bigger.

    I love this channel! :-). But my EQA has ALL the goodies, HUD, White seats, Roofhach, Better sound, Bigger screen, FANTASTIC intelligent autosteer/drive, etc etc.... so it depends on what you buy extra, but maybe you ment describe if you buy the cheepest one. But its good to say, thats it Possible, to get it for more money.

    I remember when the EQS came out, they announced the EQA with a bit more range, stating the car will get a battery with the new more dense chemistry from the EQS. I guess that's why the capacity increased too.

  • @fordonsjuridik
    @fordonsjuridik ปีที่แล้ว +9

    The EQB 250+ that I have is 4kw bigger battery to 70,5 Kw

  • @w0nd3rlu573r
    @w0nd3rlu573r ปีที่แล้ว

    15:15 the Wh/kg is getting better each month, so perhaps they are packing the same amount with better chemistry. And if they are packing the same physical amount of batteries it's inevitable that the capacity will rise.

    If they get 16 % more range with a new motor (drive train losses are usually not that big in a EV), just a relatively short time after the model was launched the old motor has to be the worst one they could design

    • @airestocky
      @airestocky ปีที่แล้ว +1

      are you sure they design them by themselve? the EQE run on Siemens motors, right?

    • @simonm1447
      @simonm1447 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@airestocky it's probably from a supplier, since Merc outsources most things to press the last Euro out of the suppliers. If the first version is from Siemens (they should know how to build a motor) it's no good advertising for Siemens. If you can get 16 % more range by switching the drive train the original one is really inefficient

    Hey Bjorn great video as always 👍🏻 quick question why do you not seem to use eco mode on range tests now or 1000km test? I’m guessing eco mode does not make much difference as long as you are gentle with the throttle when in comfort mode… is this true? 👍🏻

    • @CampGareth
      @CampGareth ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Eco mode AFAIK makes no difference for motorway driving. It affects throttle response not efficiency at constant speed, but it often limits the heater which in Norway temperatures can be lethal.

    • @niallroche2051
      @niallroche2051 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CampGareth I think it makes more of a difference in ICE cars and hybrids for example I have a Toyota Camry hybrid, I arrived at work this morning, no motorway in eco mode all the way and I averaged 70mpg and it’s only 9 degrees in the uk this morning so I think I’ve done pretty well 😊

    • @maximilianholland
      @maximilianholland ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It varies quite a bit by vehicle, and driving style, and other factors. Check "Citroen e-C4 real world range test, eco mode" video, finding about 25% improvement on same mixed route/driving style vs. normal mode. The Citroen is an exception (along with a handful of others, e.g. Ionic 38 kWh), for most cars, it won't make *as much* difference - IF - you anyway drive gently. Other things being equal, reducing top speed (high aero losses) is the easiest efficiency gain, especially in cold conditions (high air density).

    No power needed for a cruise control that doesn't exist; same with the bigger sound system and other assistant systems.

    Your 90kph number in warm weather normally comes close to WLTP. Odd that they claim 323 miles (for AMG with 18" wheels). At the same time they say its 157 Wh/km which would only give 290 miles with 70.5kWh they say it has! Wonder where the truth lies?

      If you take the optional extras into account which are not included in the base price (a base Merc is naked with little stuff and barely sellable used) the EQA is more expensive than a Model 3 which has these extras as standard. Merc and other German brands earn their main profits with extras, not with the car itself

    • @bjornnyland
      @bjornnyland  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 2021 Model 3 SR+ result you looked at was with old update and only 49.8 kWh net capacity. Look at row 207: 60 kWh LFP done in winter with 56.9 kWh. In summer that should be 56.9 kWh / 118 Wh/km = 482 km
