    Fascinating option to play with. Thanks, George!

    Hell, I"m just excited to see MoPac on a HO train set. That's rare.

    Very cool dead towing concept! :) Beautiful work on the Mo-Pac lashup! :}
    Thanx Thom...

    I'm sure every railroad had different rules but here in NSW, you could have dead attached, or light attached. Dead meant loco's engine wasn't running and light meant engine was running but in idle. All locos would still have had air hoses right through so brakes would still be operable. You almost need multiple mixers, 1 for home, club, Dead attached and maybe light attached, but very interesting concept. We would sometimes get a light attached engine that the MUs were still working as lead unit so we could have a nice quiet trip. that would be another interesting conversion piece

      In this case, we can enable the F19 straight-to-idle to simulate that. Then all the effects would be shared. I use this when consisting my diesel with the excursion steam locos.

    It is interesting all of the different things you can do with the decoders. And it is prototypical to see an engine move such as this. I myself would not take the time to do it. Good content though.

      Thanks for watching! We try to design our decoders so you can simulate as many realistic operations as you want, but you don't have to!

    ESU has always let you start up and shut down the prime mover seperately from other things, so you don’t have to deal with this stuff.

    • @SoundtraxxDCC
      @SoundtraxxDCC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tsunami2 has also always had the ability to start up and shut down your prime mover separately as well. This is just a way to set up towing dead units in a consist.

    George that is an interesting concept for a possibility of “alternate” steam chuffing as we have already discussed some time ago. Normal and “other”

    In the real world what you are doing is having your trail units Dead In Consist. They would be MUed by the train line, MU cable, and MU hoses. The sounds that should be enabled are the wheel click as you did, independent brake squeal, and the poppet valve, air dryer. Also what we do is isolate unneeded power. They will be set up the same way as DIC, but will idle and not respond to any of the throttle changes. And now with the auto start system that is in the modern power, they shutdown, and only, restart for a few things like, low main reservoir pressure, low battery voltage, low water temperature, etc.

      By the way George, another great real world video. Thanks!

    • @SoundtraxxDCC
      @SoundtraxxDCC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is true. So we could enable the independent brake sounds on the trailing ones. On the automatic brakes, the sounds would be different since they are essentially trailing boxcars, but using CVs 116-118, they’d all share the same braking rates. We can simply enable the poppet valve too, just silenced the compressor and poppet since I didn’t think the loco would be opening the poppett. Easy enough to do. Just set the volume CVs to match.

      @@SoundtraxxDCC I know on the power we use the poppet valve/air dryer is controlled by the "request for help (MU Pin 22)" and when the air compressor "stop" signal is sent. So like when a unit is MUed and not running and the Main Reservoir pressure gets below a set pressure (some where around 120-130 PSI) it sets the "request for help" line so the other air compressor(s) in the consist will kick in and recharge the MR in the trailing unit(s), causing the poppet to blow off, and then when the MR gets fully charged it drops the request, and then it spits again.

    Hi George,
    An idea. Back in the day i used to mess around with PLCs. Now the Tsunami2 already has load monitoring for the DDE. Couldn't you make that in a load control? Where that engine would sense more or less load and adjust the motor power occrdingly.
    The benefit being that with a push of a function that engine will simply just follow as if its in Neutral. No need for consisting. Way quicker.

    • @SoundtraxxDCC
      @SoundtraxxDCC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It already adjusts the motor power through BEMF control. What you want is inter-decoder communication and that is not here. The decoders get their commands from the app (iPhone or iPad) and perform accordingly.
