Agreed and tbh I feel we should be able to skip the scam artists and go straight to the manufacturer and buy direct for advertisers price not some dickhead in a suit trying to burn u so they can make sales commission , but sadly the world we live in money talks and we all get fed shit sandwiches on the daily 😅
I disagree, it's market based, if morons are willing to pay over sticker, that's on them. I will never do business with any dealer that does that. Two local dealers I've done business with have made the correct decision to never charge over sticker, you know what they get, business and repeat business from me.
@@joecovey2235 They lobby so to make it illegal to buy directly from the manufacture. So they really shouldn't be able to mark it up if they wanna force you to buy from them.
Dealers don’t control the market. In the end customers do. They can set the market but if everyone gets together and boycotts cars with markups, after 90 days the market will adjust itself. Blame impatient customers with too much money for inflating demand. They’re the ones that pay up.
You hit the nail on the head. The price is the biggest downfall to the integra type s…and you’re 100% right. It’s just sad. I wanted one so bad until I realized I can get so much more for the money elsewhere.
Why is anyone even crying and complaining? Who even buys a car new at MSRP anymore? You can get this car with 10k miles (still practically a brand new car) in a year and get it for 35-37k which is all it's worth
@@BrayZapsometimes even a used Type R is priced the same as a brand new Type R (before mark-up) since they mark-up a new one over msrp so might still be looking at $40-45k. Very scarce brand new Type R around my area (Seattle) maybe 1 in a 500 mile radius so demand and supply will work on the used ones’ favor
For $52k, there are so many options, it's crazy. Low mileage M2's, Mk5 Supras, and just below BMW M340i and Audi S4 starting MSRP. It's a hard justification compared to the RWD and AWD offerings right in that price range.
Exactly I personally would never spend $50k for a fwd car, I don’t care what people say, the type r and type s are sport car oriented and are going to get spanked on by other cars in that price range, how much power does one really want with fwd
Yea you can't compare used cars that's the dumbest shit ever...also I guess most car guys have no sense have how shit the economy is? America has a 7%inflation rate right now? Yet you guys are surprised at the MSRP prices 😑 not so bright
Exactly. The MSRP of a Kia Stinger GT2 comes with around 50 more HP and RWD. Half a second or more quicker to 60, and at that trim level comes much better equipped. Unfortunately, it's automatic, so that may put some off. A new Mustang GT manual is faster and around 40-45k, but only 2 door. I think cars like this are targeted at people who NEED a manual and want 4 doors, because I can't seem to find very many performance cars in the same range that have both those features. Plenty of better 2 door manuals, and plenty of better 4 door autos.
Agreed, the price is ridiculous. Could easily get a gently used, very good condition previous generation BMW M2 with a manual for the same price. Heck, you could even get a brand new base M240i for a few grand more! I mean, why not go for a Genesis G70? You could get AWD and their twin turbo V6 for that price, with a TON of luxury features... Nevermind the slew of other cars in this price range. No way in hell would I ever consider this car, and I grew up loving the Honda/Acura scene in the 90's!
BMW manuals are crap, BMW is highly unreliable and the most expensive to own. And you're comparing Genesis driving dynamics and reliability with the Type S? :)
@@vladimirtalijanThe G70 has very good handling even when compared to similar or more upscale cars. I own a g70 sport and a 2005 rsx type s, i have tried plenty of cars and would not own one that was boring to drive. The g70/ stinger platform had its suspension tuned by lotus and mechanicals worked on by the previous Bmw m car engineer. So it is not like the other models where they are tuned more for comfort over performance.
@Vladimir Talijan the word "BMW is highly unreliable" sounds straight out of 2008. The B58 engines had been used in various BMWs until this day, seen as one of the most robust engines to ever exist, heck Supra A90 from Toyota even stuff that engine, just slightly tuned for their own credentials. Get over it or someone will call you an old timer BMW hater.
I own a BMW, unfortunately they are unreliable and plastic everything, but unfortunately all new cars are going plastic.. nothing is better than older Acura Honda products the new stuff is over weight and not as fun.
The Civic Type R should be priced around $38,000 and the Integra Type S should be about $42,000. They would sell a ton of them. Rather than making them limited production, make as many as people will purchase. Nobody cares exclusivity.
the type R is priced adjusted according to inflation- $44.5k is what the launch price of the FK8 was in 2017 of $35.5k inflation sucks and wages havent really kept up to match it and never will
@@ShaiyanHossain that has nothing to do with inflations, that’s just greed. The golf r has only gone up $2k in cost since 2017 when the last type r was out
I bought a 2023 Civic Si for MSRP and ended up pre-trading it in today on an Integra Type S (also at MSRP; got one of the 200 pre-reservation units to a dealer that doesn’t go over sticker). The L15CA has proven to be a super underwhelming engine especially with mods. Can’t even tune the Si without a clutch and flywheel swap bc it’s got the same weak clutch from last gen (250hp max). If you’re looking for a grocery hauler, the Si is peppy and did had great driving dynamics. But if you plan to tune it up, the Type R or Type S are what you need. Am I happy it’s $52k? Not at all; I thought it’d be $50k tops. But I got $32k for my Si so the $2k was a wash for me.
@@C0mpurgator You people are out of your mind paying 50k+ for a fwd Honda... Why not just get an rs3? Or better yet, save $17,000 and get the awd Corolla GR with a 3-cylinder that is proven to 450whp? All the Toyota's dealers here are seelling the GR Corolla for MSRP, altho you do have to wait for it.. When the market crashes and then stabilizes, you are all going to be in a world of hurt with these crazy inflated prices.. Again, No fwd 4-cylinder is worth $50k+
And when sales are terrible they'll blame it on being a manual shift. Not that it's 4 doors, overpriced, and all around terrible. Good job Acura/Honda 👎🏻
I don't think the fact that it's 4 doors is a problem, the main issue is the price. Having an auto option may not have been a bad idea, but the main problem is most people don't see where their extra $7100 is going.
I don't think Honda is a problem in this video and I don't agree ur using a emoji (👎🏼) were talking about the Acura bc, of overpriced and yes, they all agree of it.

@@BMWROYAL Though once you load up on options you'll be well north of the Type-S price point. That and you can't have the M240 as a stick either. Still don't think that makes the Type-S worth it, but it really is the only car of it's "class" (well price point) that can be had as a 4-door with a manual.
Anytime a $50k budget for a car comes up, I say 2013-2016 Audi RS5. They're in the ~$30k range, you could even buy a second car , $15k-$20k ,within that 50k budget.
51k for about 300 hp and fwd is a lot to ask already before dealer mark up. I understand that the car this is based on (civic type r) is one of the best handling/fastest fwd car in existence today, but @ that price, there’s just so much more to be had from other offerings.
50k... Let's say without markup... I've read one of the comments below an interresting choice: a used GT350. And that made me think, yes, this choice would be on top on my list... If it has to be new, I would go either for a "Regular" Mustang GT, GR Corolla or a Type R. Great Video!
Couldn't agree more. The integra is supposed to be accessible and affordable. The people that can afford a $52K plus markup car have soo many other options with more power or more luxury
Why is anyone even crying and complaining? Who even buys a car new at MSRP anymore? You can get this car with 10k miles (still practically a brand new car) in a year and get it for 35-37k which is all it's worth
When I read the title of this vid, price was the only thing that came to mind. I was never under the illusion that the Integra was going to be a 2 door coupe, (that ship sailed when the 11th gen Civic released as 4 door sedan or hatchback only) and I like the way it looks and performance is as expected for the HP/TQ numbers. To me it's simply a way to get all the things that should have at least been optional on the Si. I mean the Si and Integra are both sold in Canada, yet they can get all the missing things on their Si without hurting Integra sales? But all that aside, getting the Integra we all want (type S) is far too expensive...and I'm right there with you because my mind also goes directly to "what else could I get for this price?" once a car crosses the $40k threshold...and I'm not sure anything based on the Civic would make the cut, even with the Acura badge. I have a similar issue with the GR Corolla, but at least that car doesn't truly share much with it's namesake normal hatchback..and it's mostly hand built in the same factory that did the LFA. That helps the psyche barrier a bit, but the Integra truly is a Civic Si/Type R with different front and rear styling and a few extra luxe features you can't get in the equivalent Honda...that's truly it. I'm pretty sure they even share an assembly line until it reaches a certain stage, but I could be wrong. Add borderline criminal dealership "market adjustments" and I'm adjusted right out of the market for a car I otherwise like a lot. Guess there are enough people out there willing to pay insane prices or Honda wouldn't do it...but I think that ends soon with our wonderful "progressive" government totally trashing our economy beyond any quick fixes.🙄
Great video! No way I’d pay 52-60k for an Integra. Having just purchased two Lexus vehicles, I’d rather go for a IS350 or an IS500 F. We almost bought the IS350 recently but decided on the ES350 for the room and the ride. About to trade the ES on a LC500 convertible though.
No way would I pay 50k for an IS350. So many better choices for that price tag. A TLX Type S can be found for around that amount and is in my opinion the better option between the two.
@@slowspecv69 the Acura will probably be over 60k after dealer markup. The IS500 can be had for 65-67k and the IS350 for much less than that. I know they are meant for different kinds of customers, but give me the naturally aspirated 3.5 V6 or that awesome 5.0L V8 over a turbo 4 any day of the week and twice on Sunday.
The biggest thing Acura has going for the Type-s is that it's the only practical sporty option in the price point with a manual. Sure you'll blow it's doors off with an S3 or a M240i, but those are auto only. A Supra or Z could be had with a stick for the money, but those are 2-door coupes. Do I think this makes the Type S worth it? Hell no, but the manual option really is the one thing it has going for it.
@TheBCninja math checks out. Even worse is that it didn't scale to 39k or even 40k... it's 51+k which shows how greedy these car companies have gotten over the last decade(s). If price gouging wasn't enough, you have the stealerships adding their bogus fees and "mark up"
@alphapanda8638 I'm in general agreeance except part of me thinks more and more technology is being packed into cars standard that are also driving these increases. I know that other technology would have become more affordable as it becomes more common place, but i think it bottoms out at a certain point. Airbags are standard now, but still cost 1k per bag. I'm sure it used to be really expensive when they first came out, but they are still fairly expensive today. A/C is cheaper now than it was when it first came out, but it's still expensive. It all is just cumulative expectations of consumers. Not many people would go back to a car that had 1990s technology and design as a commuter car for $15k new for example. Especially when used cars at $15k have things like cooled seats 😅
I whole heartedly agree with you. Can you make a video of the different $50k+ options you would chose over the type s? I would really appreciate your input.
Why is anyone even crying and complaining? Who even buys a car new at MSRP anymore? You can get this car with 10k miles (still practically a brand new car) in a year and get it for 35-37k which is all it's worth
No one talks reliability... have fun fixing those German and Italian cars when the warranty is up. I'd pay the $50k for the piece of mind that it will last 10 years.
As a honda guy myself I thought about getting a tlx type s. Needing something bigger than my 10th gen sport. But I ended up getting a 23 k5 gt 2.5t. Price was cheaper and working at kia they gave me a higher price for the civic than anyone else would. End of the day I'm happy with it. 42k out the door with almost 300hp and over 300 trq and also fully loaded. Miss my honda but im happy with the k5. It's a sexy looking car also
An additional $7-8k isn’t exactly “might as well” territory for most people, in my opinion. I’m curious about what other cars in the same price or lower you can get NEW that offer the same level of performance and practicality.
@@bencastro921 Link me to one you see for sale for 35K 😂. You obviously have no idea where the market is on these. Also please keep showing you’re envy and jealousy, it’s entertaining
I've had the 2023 integra A-spec with the 6mt for like 6 months now. I totally disgree. This car has been fantastic every second that I drive it. Also the price was amazing, better than any luxury competitor. I paid MSRP for my integra, no markup. These cars also have some of the best residual values which make them an excellent buy. I also think the Acura is worth the price upgrade from the civic if you're accustomed to luxury features. The speaker system is one of my favorite parts.

Too expensive is right. The first number needed to be a 4, even if it was $49,995. When I saw the improved styling over the base IntegraI was really thrilled and seriously thinking I would want to see it in person and possibly buy one. $52K put a serious damper on that.
Used to have an Integra GSR and I love this Type S but new sporty Hondas/Toyotas are getting ridiculous. This is why the sporty Hyundai Kia stuff is starting to make sense.
In my opinion the reason for the price has largely to do with how much dealers are getting for the civic type R. If people stopped paying the markups, then the manufacturers would price their cars more affordably. Other cars to consider...you can get a 2023 BMW M240i rwd with premium option package and cooling package for 53K. No dealer markup.
So sad to see the entry prices so high for integras. I had a 96 GSR and they were only slightly more expensive than a high trim level civic. Seeing 51K for a type S is a no-go and as much as I would love to get one just seems to high of a price for admission back into the Acura family.
This isn't exclusive to Acura, every car has this problem. Civic type R already runs close to mid 40s. No way the Type S would be in striking distance in price considering how much nicer it is.
I’m sure someone else has pointed it out but if you adjust the msrp of the 97 integra type r for inflation it’s only about 2-3k more expensive for the new one.
@@hparrish3341 oh yeah no inflation is only part of the picture. That plus insurance, wages haven’t exactly scaled well 😬 and the whole “market adjustment” bs. Not that I could afford it either way.
Well at this point you can get a base C8 for just over 60k which is what a dealer marked up and decently optioned type S would cost. I would go C8 all day
I loved the ITS initially. After the hype and now with the absurd pricing, I'm falling out of love with it. I think the biggest thing is those tacked on fenders. I get they're actually not tacked on, but they look it. Unlike the CTR that molds the wide fenders into the body and looks seamless, the ITS looks like they slapped on a Chinese bodykit and sent it.
@@ii_dynasty exactly, the comment is delusional. This looks so much better compared to the CTR, and what’s the point of having a wider car if it doesn’t look wider.
All these comments miss the point. Do you want a manual sports sedan? Stop comparing it to European cars that are automatics. This car is not for everyone. If you don’t want a manual, for low 50s - 60 tons of options.
I’d buy the integra just to be different. I had a 08 G35 sedan that I sold to my mom and I got a 06 M35 I’m modifying. It’s nice to be different. But if I had $50k or so to spend, I have 2 thoughts on it. If I could modify the car, I’ll take the Z. I’m a Nissan tech so I’d appreciate having the database and whatnot at my fingertips while I’m messing with it. And I’m a tad hit Nissan biased 😅 If it had to remain stock, I’d take the Mk5 Supra 6 speed. I was shocked how well the auto handled, which makes me wanna experience the manual.
I kept telling you guys what the market was like 🤷 my 11 year old Buick Lacrosse (low volume trim, all interior stuff and pre-dated Regal GS suspension) was over 50K OTD. For 280hp at 4100lbs. It's luxury sedans in general. I know having enthusiastic high hopes about stuff and all, but I knew it wasn't going to be a coupe. There is no place for one to be honest. It would be niche in comparison to what this will sell post launch.
Trouble is there's enough people who will pay it! Especially if it's going to be in limited supply! I remember when the NSX type s came out everybody said who the hells going to buy it. That was sold out before it went on sale! There's plenty of people who won't care how much it costs, if they want it they'll buy it. It's just a shame for the rest of us 😢.
Buying a brand new car these days has become the stupidest thing you can do. Just like you said, the manufactorers are basically making a fool out of their customers to artificially limit productionsnumbers and use peoples fear of "missing out" to put ridiculous pricetags on their cars. And since a lot of people are still willing to pay them, everything else just raised in price as well. I mean, the absolute base model, absolutely 0 options BMW 318i only STARTS at 41k € over here... Screw this, i´m not about to gift them money for (almost guaranteed) less reliable cars. I just went ahead and bought myself another E36 recently, 325i convertable with only 150k km and first hand and i´m fairly certain this will still last way longer for me than anything they´re offering these days!
The ITS is going to be mass produced in Ohio, unlike the CTR which is produced in Japan. My local Acura dealer said the ITS will not be marked up because there will be a much greater inventory as opposed to the CTR. Makes sense. $52k isn’t cheap, but this is the new reality we live in now. EVERYTHING has become considerably more expensive since Covid hit supply chains and reduced the labor force. The ITS is going to turn a lot more head than a 2 series, G70 , Golf R or Audi S3. Not to mention it’s going to be way more reliable and hold its value better than any of those cars. I bet when you do a cost of ownership analysis, the ITS is going to be less expensive to own than any of those cars.
Man, I'm glad someone else other than just me says this. I've been saying this everywhere else on other TH-cam channels, Instagram, and Facebook. This is what a post-pandemic high inflation semi-recession economy and society look like right now. To be fair to Acura, I don't even think they wanted to price the Integra Type S so high, but this is what a workforce labor shortages, supply chain disruptions, and low production of semiconductor chips and overly excessive high demand has strained us with. There are way worse cars for the price, less reliable, and have lowest years of warranty. I will gladly take the Integra Type S all day every day for what it's worth, whether it'd be a standard model Integra Type S, PMC Edition Integra Type S, some Special Edition Integra Type S, or a Limited Edition Integra Type S. This car will satisfy many people's desires.
I would consider a type S at $47k- I already have the A spec and its everything the civic Si should be given honda dealers mark them up to the point of integra pricing anyways, but $52k is a tough pill to swallow, especially since my standard a spec has 95% of the interior features anyways lol for $36.5k I will say though the exhaust alone makes this more appealing than the Fl5 to me (its too quiet) and the flares are gonna be pretty sick. also the FL5 is too stiff for normal street driving, and the Integra should be softer where it counts
Uh people please dont forget the reliability. I'm not buying a BMW for many reasons but mostly if you have to get it worked on. I'm not saying hondas are the end all be all of reliability but they are up there. I would also say that yes the price is too high but so is every other decent car out right now. Dealers have lost their minds on these prices.
Personally, I'm interested in the ITS, however i think you present a valid point. $50K is a lot to shell out for a compact luxury sporty car. I hope Acura really markets this as more than just a "luxury Civic Type R" and really differentiates it properly. Otherwise, I'll probably wind up with Supra, IS500, used M2 or just go cheaper and buy a 2024 Elantra N now that they've fixed that disgusting face the original one had and tune it.
Honestly it's not even a luxury car. The interior is basically Civic. I really hope people test drive other cars in that price range and see the difference.
100%. At that price range especially the markup at release, just so many more options. M240i, M2, M340i, A91 Supra, the new Z... The list goes on. Now if I were still in my teens or 20's and really wanted it, then maybe. But again, not a lot of people in that age bracket don't have 60k to toss around. We were driving DC2 and DC5 Integras when I was in high school in the mid-2000's and those were actually affordable. Now in my 30's I just bought a X3M to replace my M40i. Can't imagine spending that amount of money for a FWD pseudo-luxury car. The Type-S needs to be 10-15k cheaper to appeal to their target demographic. Your comment about the Type-S by default, having to be more expensive than the Type-R is 100% accurate as well. It's one of the reasons they killed off the DC5 because it was cannibalizing Civic sales. Probably the same reason Audi will never make a RSQ5(only SQ5) because it would cannibalize Macan GTS sales.
platform from 2007 and that engine+trans makes the car feel like a camry but the drive wheels are to the back. also the interior space is way less usable because the platform is so old
FL5 Owner, just got one of the reservations for the Tiger Eye Type S, I'm actually really excited- I wish the Integra had the manual seats of the Type R, but basically you're paying for the looks, which MAN does that look like a beautiful car. There are some cars for sure in the 50k price range, but I still think the Integra competes well here. Basically you're buying a bullet proof engine, with track ready capabilities. Not just straight line performance The Acura also sounds way better then the FL5 from factory it seems. Which is really the only department the FL5 lacks. Drive a FL5 Type R on a bendy road, then it'll all make sense.
I am a car enthusiast. I put way too much money into the car I have now (F56 MINI) in modifications plus I have a 2 year old daughter now. I need a 4 door car that’s moderately fast and fun to drive and preferably a manual. This car checks all the boxes as far as I’m concerned. I wanted a 3.0 Supra but this is more practical and less expensive. People can knit pick over small things like it not having a sunroof but I happen to not like sunroofs, so that doesn’t bother me. Also, even though it’s MSRP is more than what most people were thinking it would be, it gives dealers less room for markup. I happen to live near a dealer that does not markup at all. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but most people would say this car is gorgeous. It will definitely be a head turner. I’m on the list for one when they come out and I cannot wait to get my hands on one! People act like FWD is awful but how many of you actually utilize the advantages that RWD or AWD have while in your 330i on your daily work commute? I will try as hard as I can not to modify this car when I get it… but if I did, the possibilities are endless. Idk why someone would get a 3 cyl GR Corolla over this other than the fact that the Corolla is cheaper. I think this competes very closely with the Alfa Romeo Giulia, which I was interested in. (I bought my wife a Stelvio) But I don’t hear people saying the Giulia is overpriced. The Integra Type S is winning me over because it has a manual. I think the price gap between this car and the Civic Type R is just right. If this was 48K it would only be a few thousand dollars more than a fully optioned Type R. But with all that said, I am not trying to convince anyone that this car is worth it or for them. I think I’m number 8 on the list for one of these at my local dealer, but I won’t complain if I move up the list!
I could buy a low milage mint 350Z for just the MSRP of one of these and have another 30k to spend fine tuning the handling and updating the features to be up to snuff with a 2023 model year car. The auto industry is dying. Its sad to see. I was so excited for the new Z, and it turned out to be a massive letdown. I was similarly excited for the new Integra until it was unveiled. I should have bought that 33k 400 mile Civic Type R I saw at the Honda dealership during Covid when they were struggling to sell them. It's fine. I'm happy with my slow little Scion and my 4Runner.
If you buy new and switch every few years, u have lots of options... But not if you wanna keep it 200-300k miles. If you want a fun manual, that looks great, thats totally practical, and dont need awd, (fwd w/ lsd is just fine for most in snow), and can last 200k to 300k... There is only the gr corolla, type r, and idk if a golf will give u the same reliability...
As someone who works for Honda and have seen the development of the Type-S, it’s is an amazing car. However, the dealerships will kill this thing with the markups.
Your overall review and comparisons towards the other cars in the market are so spot on David. I specifically like how you brought up the Z and the Manual MK5 . Because the Z was also very overhyped and overpriced. I think the previous years used market is what’s gunna thrive way better then these BRAND NEW 48+K cars + dealer markup which is Totally a fraud to all who buy and purchase. Great video 🤙🤙
I got offered an allocation for $5k over.... I put in my deposit. but then thought about it and I hated the fact that this car is almost $60k,. took my deposit back and instead went and got an M3. very happy
After driving the first integra and then hearing about how they came out with the type s version I really wish they would have but the 6cylinder engine from the TLX in there then the price is justified.
Personally I’m looking to get a used GT350 for around $55,000-$60,000, as it seems like one of the best performance to dollar cars out there right now, and that 5.2 V8 that revs to 8250 rpm is 😙🤌🏼
@@garythecyclingnerd6219 yea I hear you just need to keep it topped off and check oil frequently as well as let it warm up properly before driving it hard. It ain’t a GT that’s for sure lol.
David, you’re looking at the Integra with nostalgia-colored glasses. I owned an original Integra. They were average looking cars. The volume seller was the four door model.
What sedan brand new can out perform the Type S on the track. Folks are forgetting what it's built for. It doesn't matter what the consumer will use it as but for comparison purposes it's in a sweet spot price wise. You have to spend more than 10k to get a better performer like a CT4 Blackwing or RS3.
Finally someone gets it! People are comparing this to daily drivers like the S4 and M240i, the Type S is a PERFOMANCE car with track pedigree. Just a completely different focus
@@wadesloan People are going to dismiss it just like the CTR because it’s FWD but with the level of performance coupled with a manual trans there is no better choice.

i wonder if i should hate myself for liking the type r and type s more that the m2. I testdrove them all. Also gr corolla and golf r and. I want a hatchback. I dont drifft and I genuinely think the type r or type s drive awesome. Im not into high powered cars and only care about handling and street fun. Also this discussion is so stupid at this point given that there is no market right now without markups and the reality teaches you that the type s is probably cheaper than the type r. The other option I considered next to this cars was the m2 from last gen but i was looking for something even more practical but still fun and injust feel more connected with the type r platform. I love racing fwd cars as my s2k so i dont get why people look so down on them . I guess i have my own perspective on this since it will not be my only car. Acura dealers offered me mostly msrp or 1k over msrp deals why honda is strong with 10k-15k markups.
I have an 18 RLX Sport Hybrid with 377hp/341tq, 7DCT, sh-awd, and always 27-32 mpgs. The RLX suspension is too soft for my liking; but, the power, mpgs, Krell audio, hybrid tech, and cabin space was hard to give up for the spoitier/smaller TLX Type-S or the Integra Type-S.
You fail to realize the type r gets marked up anywhere from 5-20k my dealer in Delaware said the mark up they’re putting on type s is 2500. So it’s actually gonna be cheaper if you can find it not in salt marked up
For 50$k I would buy a 2023 Prius prime that gets 121 mpge and then also have like 7 grand left over to go on vacation almost anywhere 1200 miles round trip on 1 tank of gas 😂, -and that's with all the upgrades on the premium trim 😉
When you first mentioned price in this video, I immediately had flashbacks of the reintroduction of the NSX, when they compared pricing to that of its competitors…. Here we go again… 🤦🏻♂️
I feel like all these car coming back are more for the “kids” my age 40+ that grew up with these cars have some sort of nostalgia but have a family and good paying jobs that can afford a pay 70k on a 4 door civic
Correct. If you're born after the year 1995, as far as Acura/Honda are concerned, you don't make enough to have an opinion worth listening to. See you in 20 years when everything is electric and the average new car sells for $67,000.
Between dealer markups and car companies treating some car MSRPs like Dragon Ball characters on a power creep, i never thought there was any chance for an Integra in the modern day.
I too was not a fan of the original Integra reveal. Understanding Acura is going with a specific design language, I actually think the Integra Type S is the best-looking Acura currently available and that says a lot seeing how it is the "entry-level" Acura which I can imagine can put them in an awkward position with their other cars. I was a big fan of the FK8 Honda Civic Type R. I actually own one. I think the current Type R is too tame looking for a Type R. Since that race-inspired 6-speed manual is already checked off with my FK8, I would 100% take this Acura Type S over its European competitors new or used. Used European luxury cars are cheap for a reason and IMHO, new ones are not worth the money. I don't need to impress others with a fancy European name brand and the Type S to me is a great blend of luxury and sport. Building off of my Type R I can already imagine it is fun to drive. I just upgraded my tires to Michelin Pilot Sport 4S and those tires alone transformed my Type R and they come standard on the Type S and no doubt just like my Type R the Type S should be reliable in the years to come. I was looking for a manual Supra or a new manual Z for that money but we do need a more "luxury" vehicle to hall the family around and the Type S looks like it could be it. Acura got my attention with this Type S. With that said, I would not pay dealer markups. I got my FK8 new with no dealer markup and I would wait to do the same for the Integra Type S or not get it. With as crazy and in the toilet our economy is right now, that extra money has to go to other things.
Agree with you on this. A ton of Acura dealers don't do markups but they hit you with a 2k protection package where you get door jam guards and mud guards. Which is what they did for me with my regular Integra. Considering how the fk8 sold and held its value and the FL5 is selling right now. I don't see why the Integra Type S will be any different. If someone wants a German car they will be looking at German cars to begin with. The type s msrp is pretty high but so is every other car right now. I guess only time will tell for how this car does.
I agree with you. Acura/Honda should have want all out. When I look at this car I see nothing but the CTR. Why not change it up. Ok 4-door is okay but instead of making it FWD why not RWD/SH-AWD. I know a lot of ppl going to say this would under cut the TLX Type-S but then Acura should go back and upgrade the TLX. Make it lighter with more HP. To me this is just the CTR and their making the same car twice in my opinion.
I’ve come to this conclusion, barely any newer cars have a soul. I have a 2022 Acura ILX. I just bought a 2004 Sierra because I wanted to get an older truck and I love the truck more than I love the Acura. I think that older vehicles have more character and so many more unique things compared to newer cars which are now becoming ridiculously expensive
We need cheap two door liftbacks to be brought back. I’m still driving my manual 1997 Celica liftback. Yeah it isn’t fast but I like driving it. I learned to drive in this car. And I’m considering modding it when the 7afe engine finally kicks the can. If that finally happens…
I've always disagreed with everyone saying that the CTR should be AWD, but in this case with that price, I think offering AWD on the intergra would make sense, I mean with Acura offering SH-AWD on almost all their models, Acura buyers have kind of come to expect that as an option at least
2013/14 Porsche 911 (991.1 Gen) drive it every day for the next 10 years because it will still be worth $50K regardless of mileage and condition due to the upcoming nanny state electrification. Car enthusiasts will be happily paying a premium for the mechanical rasp of a flat 6 instead of the sci fi buzzes and whines from an electric.
What car would you buy for 50K?

Nope. That's a 30k car and a under powered one.

It's going to be the end of all good vehicles. Good as in affordable vehicles that are fun.
You hit the nail on the head. The price is the biggest downfall to the integra type s…and you’re 100% right. It’s just sad. I wanted one so bad until I realized I can get so much more for the money elsewhere.
Most people don't care about other options, people just buy what they want,at least where I live.

@@kblairp you most certainly can when you’re comparing prices
Agreed, the price is ridiculous. Could easily get a gently used, very good condition previous generation BMW M2 with a manual for the same price. Heck, you could even get a brand new base M240i for a few grand more! I mean, why not go for a Genesis G70? You could get AWD and their twin turbo V6 for that price, with a TON of luxury features... Nevermind the slew of other cars in this price range. No way in hell would I ever consider this car, and I grew up loving the Honda/Acura scene in the 90's!

@@vladimirtalijan Okay, fine. $52K will buy me both a used, newer Accord and a used C6 or C7 Corvette, too.
@Vladimir Talijan the word "BMW is highly unreliable" sounds straight out of 2008.
Nobody cares exclusivity.
the type R is priced adjusted according to inflation- $44.5k is what the launch price of the FK8 was in 2017 of $35.5k inflation sucks and wages havent really kept up to match it and never will
The sell all of them that are produced and most well above msrp - their pricing has not been an issue for sales at all
@@ShaiyanHossain that has nothing to do with inflations, that’s just greed. The golf r has only gone up $2k in cost since 2017 when the last type r was out

It is not about selling a ton of them, it is about Honda increasing its margins and overall profits.
The price is really crazy when you consider that the fun, light and manual transmission Civic Si starts at 28K USD.
I saw a Reddit with a $20k markup on a civic si bringing it to $50k. I’m not sure which state it was in. Ridiculous.
Inflation is a mofo and it creates these types of problems in society. It's insidious.
That’s a bad comparison consider the Type S has more power and a little more luxury version of the type R(which starts at 44k).

Still rather a type s over an is350 for the same price
@@slowspecv69 the Acura will probably be over 60k after dealer markup. The IS500 can be had for 65-67k and the IS350 for much less than that. @@BamaPatriot61 Bingo!
Also crazy to think that when the acura rsx type s released in 2001, it was priced at 23k.
Just to give a bit better context here - that's 39,200 in today's value.

If I could modify the car, I’ll take the Z. I’m a Nissan tech so I’d appreciate having the database and whatnot at my fingertips while I’m messing with it. And I’m a tad hit Nissan biased 😅
If it had to remain stock, I’d take the Mk5 Supra 6 speed.
I went with the type R…..it is an amazing car…..as close to perfect as possible.
I like it tbh
I would consider a type S at $47k- I already have the A spec and its everything the civic Si should be given honda dealers mark them up to the point of integra pricing anyways, but $52k is a tough pill to swallow, especially since my standard a spec has 95% of the interior features anyways lol for $36.5k
I will say though the exhaust alone makes this more appealing than the Fl5 to me (its too quiet) and the flares are gonna be pretty sick. also the FL5 is too stiff for normal street driving, and the Integra should be softer where it counts
Probably the same reason Audi will never make a RSQ5(only SQ5) because it would cannibalize Macan GTS sales.
the latest IS350 is very nice and starts @45k
It’s nice but it lacks a lot of what the type s brings to the table. If anything the integra would compete more with the is500.
platform from 2007 and that engine+trans makes the car feel like a camry but the drive wheels are to the back. also the interior space is way less usable because the platform is so old
Seems like all makers are charging brain dead prices these days
First comment lo
lol u actually r as well
🍪
FL5 Owner, just got one of the reservations for the Tiger Eye Type S,
I'm actually really excited- I wish the Integra had the manual seats of the Type R,
but basically you're paying for the looks, which MAN does that look like a beautiful car.
There are some cars for sure in the 50k price range, but I still think the Integra competes well here.
Basically you're buying a bullet proof engine, with track ready capabilities. Not just straight line performance
The Acura also sounds way better then the FL5 from factory it seems.
Corvette went from front engine to mid engine it's been 3 years and i have not seen anyone complain about it.
As someone who works for Honda and have seen the development of the Type-S, it’s is an amazing car. However, the dealerships will kill this thing with the markups.
People jump on the rendering band wagon way too quick thinking that’s what the company is going with when it’s in no way true
Cool vid! Hey what’s is that beeping sound while he was shifting gears is that a mod or something
Yep, exactly! $52k give me a freaking break. Unobtainable! They are setting it up to fail right off the bat.
Personally I’m looking to get a used GT350 for around $55,000-$60,000, as it seems like one of the best performance to dollar cars out there right now, and that 5.2 V8 that revs to 8250 rpm is 😙🤌🏼
The burning oil really concerns me. Also not having a garage, my neighbors would literally shoot me going to work
@@garythecyclingnerd6219 That’s mainly an issue with the older model years.
That is exactly what I would get too. Or a ZL1.
You can get a gt350 for that price???
@@garythecyclingnerd6219 yea I hear you just need to keep it topped off and check oil frequently as well as let it warm up properly before driving it hard. It ain’t a GT that’s for sure lol.
What do I want in my Integra?
"Heated seats and a killer stock stereo system," said NO old school Integra enthusiast.
David, you’re looking at the Integra with nostalgia-colored glasses. I owned an original Integra. They were average looking cars. The volume seller was the four door model.
Get your self a 2021 fk8 it was reguarded by a top car enthusiast mag. as the no. 2 car out of 50 most collectable cars to own in the future.
Nice very interesting video ! 😮
I was in the market recently and having Supra’s and and corvette and other stuff on that price range over marked up I ended up with a S4 premium with no mark up and for 5k below msrp😊
i wonder if i should hate myself for liking the type r and type s more that the m2.
Yes I agree totally, I was hoping that'll look more sporty and slimmer or more aerodynamic than looking like a regular community coupe.
I had already assumed this car was out and no one was buying it, didn't know it hadn't yet been released.
The most accurate and honest review for the new Acura Integra. This car looks awful! And I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks the same. BORING!
You fail to realize the type r gets marked up anywhere from 5-20k my dealer in Delaware said the mark up they’re putting on type s is 2500. So it’s actually gonna be cheaper if you can find it not in salt marked up
For 50$k I would buy a 2023 Prius prime that gets 121 mpge and then also have like 7 grand left over to go on vacation almost anywhere 1200 miles round trip on 1 tank of gas 😂,
-and that's with all the upgrades on the premium trim 😉
Looks way better than the base model
@@treyk74 Agreed and well said.
Even the guy that unveiled it had a mediocre ass clap. He knew it was ass 😂😂
I saw a guy in 4 door dc2 hitting the corners the other day on a twisty road, shame we going the opposite direction
why in the hell do people hate 4 door cars?
"oh hey, i dont want convenient access to the back seats, because, reasons derp derp"
100% Spot On!!!!...it's a very nice car but it's not 52K nice for sure!
Totally agree, you could find a pre owned Porsche cayman for that price
So your gripe is with how it's being advertised and compared to the original Acura?
