The 2004 cars, in addition to being fast on the straight, were smaller and shorter, and had less drag. If it were the w7 Things would be more balanced on the straights
In fact, I didn't put those engines in them because I wanted a more balanced race, something that with cars from the 50s, 60s and 70s they would be far behind.
If the w11 didn't go off line into the final corner, he could have gotten a much better exit and pulled a switch back on the f2004, maybe gotten a photo finish
This is strange because the 2024 cars are smashing record laps, though for not all circuits. I've seen quite a few of your videos, but the much loved 2004 Ferrari seems to be beating them each time. I was at the Monza GP that year (at the beginning of the pits, pits side) and also bought the puma trainers the pit crew were wearing that year 😀
I wouldn't fully agree with that. The Ferraris were the overall better cars. Not really in quali, but definitely in race conditions. The BMW-Williams was often very fast in quali, but couldn't match the race pace of Ferrari. Especially the 2001, 2002 and 2004 Ferrari were basically unbeatable Also I wouldn't agree on blaming the drivers for that. Quite often, when williams had a chance of winning, they broke down. Ralf Schumacher was often stated as being as fast as Michael, but chouldn't show it, as he never got the chance to drive a championship winning car. For JPM I agree, even as a fan of him
makes you wonder what the w11 would be able to do without fuel restrictions. Even just a little bit more fuel flow and it would add another 100-200hp easily
Unfortunate to not see some "experimental" designs, such as the H16 engines. Also the I4 BMW engines in the Benetton and Brabham of the early-mid 80s are missing. Maybe the flat 12 Ferraris of the 70s too and some more 50s and 60s cars, but then it would clutter up super quick, so I understand why you may not have picked more cars.
Choosing the MP4/4 as Turbo 1.5 rules sample isn't a good choice, by the 88 rules the Turbos were limited to 2.5 BAR and 150 kg of fuel, that means that the 3.5 l Honda V10 that Mclaren used in next year ( 1989) start about 40 hp stronger just out of the box having 690 hp, when the 1.5 V6 had 650 hp in the racing trim. To be honest with real turbo Cars potentials it's far better use 1987 Willams-Honda, that was limited at 4 BAR or the 86 model that was no boost limit. The 88 F1 average times in the majority of circuits are 4s slower than 87.
I agree with everything you said, but the idea of the video is to have the best cars with each engine, and the MP4-4 was better and much more dominant than any other car with a V6 Turbo engine.
@@f1virtualfilms Ok, but in fact it was dominant against only 2 other team that used V6 turbos that year, Ferrari and Lotus-Honda. The rest of grid used V8 aspirated engine and Arrows Megatron BMW 4 inline turbo.
@@jblcharge3_basstester I’m not denying that, it’s still just impressive that it won with awful tires and race power which is 100hp less than qualifying power, plus 20 years of development, the w11 is great but not as good as the f2004
@@f1virtualfilms No it didnt, the most powerful V10 was BMW's and it produced 850hp. As someone who actually watched F1 in the early 2000s, I would know.
@@f1virtualfilmsYeah. In 1986 at qualifying trim the BMW engines apparently produced over 1500hp. Which is absolutely insane even by today's standards. Especially from a 4-cylinder engine. Because of hitting those kinds of insane numbers, they limited the maximum boost to 4 bars in 1987 and to 2.5 bars in 1988.
Mindblowing seeing how fast Ferrari 2004 is. Without DRS and hybrid tech still pulling away from mercedes
The F2004 has around 20km/h more than the W11 on the straights.
The 2004 cars, in addition to being fast on the straight, were smaller and shorter, and had less drag. If it were the w7 Things would be more balanced on the straights

tech and innovation is not much if the weight advantage is severe. I would say the W11 is very impressive despite all the limitations it has.
U forgot a more important "without": slicks
That V8 on the corners sounds so Brutal. That sound there is one of the reasons why I loved the V8 Era.
The high revving N-A V10 rules!. And the V12 sounds the nicest. V10 second place in sound, but first place in full out brutality.
Just goes to show those V10 F1 cars were monsters

well anyways, ITS AMAZING!!
There were some very similar suggestions. If you were one of them, thank you again.
Why can’t we use silverstone instead of monza for once to see who really is king in speed and cornering smh smh
Why the W11 would by far be the winner. In Monza things are more balanced for all cars.

V10 s The Real Monster of F1, Best Ferrari Ever
Put slicks on the F2004, and it would corner a good 20kph faster
And the right aero setup for Monza, with slicks, unbeatable, would have walked the Merc on the straights, 365kph on the main straight.

The BMW/Williams is arguably the best V10 car of that era. They just had the wrong Schumacher driving, and JPM too manic but still awesome lol.
