Best incorrect explanation of how proliferate works as a reply to this comment gets a heart.
Proliferate: roll 5 d6 3 times. If you roll 3 "yahtzee's", you win the game.
To proliferate you choose any number of permanents players or spells. For each instance of the word “counter” you add up to one additional instance of the word “counter” wherever you would like in the text.
I make my counters do a thing and I can make yours do the thing too
Look at all the counters on permanents and players. (Ignore suspend, thems tricksy little shites.) Contemplate whether the counters help you and/or hurt your opponents. If they do either, get another. If they don't, forget about it. If poison counters are involved in any way, shape, or form, you are now the archenemy, regardless if you originally put them out there or not. You know what you did, of course you deserve it.
You're pro life rating so you're gaining more life then your opponents for those niche "have x life win the game" win cons. Proliferate commonly loses to commander damage so decks like scrappy survivors pose a huge threat to this play style with huge swings for lethal even with all that pro life rating your doing.
The big mistake that even editor missed is that Battle of Hoover Dam puts a finality counter on the creature returned if you pick NCR.

Everyone needs to know its not WotC its Hasbro causing all of these problems. People have to take a second and realize that its a major corporation forcing changes with absolutely zero concern for the overall health of this ip. All Hasbro cares about is its profit margins
I know this was awhile ago, but for those who are scouring these comments: proliferate puts one additional counter of each type a player or permanent has, not an additional counter of each type of counter on a player. If someone has a rad, and energy, a poison, and an experience counter and proliferates themselves, they get one of each not one of each they want. 701.27a comp rules

It's an easy enough thing to miss. That change was made relatively recently, and was made to decrease the number of actions/choices made when you proliferate in Arena.
The wording didn't visually change that much, so it's easy to start reading the rules text, assume it's the same, and end up wrong.
I don't think it would have made a big impact on either game, though

daily reminder that proliferate only selects permanents and players then adds another of each counter already there, you cannot affect rad, poison, experience, or energy without adding to all existing counters on that player,
I think there was a time when you could choose specific counters. Maybe they aren’t aware of the rule change.

@@Rich2799pre war of the spark, that`s how it worked.. Since then (2019) it has been like that. As the mechanic is from 2010, we are still only 5 vs 9 years of it working like that, but considering it`s been half a decade I doubt people will get it right by 2028
One note on Hoover Dam the creature comes back with a finality counter so when the powder keger died it should have been exiled

Hi! Hope you're doing well! It's definitely been a strange journey from The Core on Main Street.
When you proliferate somethign you proliferate all counters on it. You can't choose which types.
That includes players. If they had experience, poison, rad, and energy counters, ALL of them get +1 if you choose the player
Do you mean if you say proliferate one players poison counters and they also have +1/+1 counters on a creature those also get proliferated? Or all players of they have poison counters get proliferated?
@toripaige7290 Let's say Player A has a rad counter and an energy counter on themselves, as well a creature with a +1+1 counter. Player B casts a spell that proliferates. Player B can choose to either proliferate Player A or Player A's creature, both, or neither. If they choose Player A's Creature, it gets another +1+1. If they choose Player A, they get a Rad counter AND an Energy counter.
Tldr; they can't choose which counters they'll proliferate, only which targets with counters they will proliferate.

Also, I believe Alex should be getting energy from the proliferation, cause it adds a counter of each type already there, not the counters of your choice.

You're correct.
Alex also forgot to get energy from his Automated Assembly Line after dealing damage with an artifact creature.
I really enjoy you doing multiple rounds with the same decks out of the box. One single go is usually not enough to get a good feel for how the decks play, especially when one is stumbling a bit on mana or some such like the energy deck did here.

Came for the content, stayed for the powerthirst references. Also i came up with a super fun and convoluted combo for Rex, that will allow you up your luck stat for the bobblehead wincon.

When the guy gets the powder Ganger from the graveyard, it has a finality counter so when he sacs it, it goes to exile so he doesn’t get a death trigger treasure or get to grab the powder ganger again right?

If you only stick 1 of each bobblehead in then yeah, rolling 7/7 sixes would be hard. But you can increase your chances by rolling more dice, say, by creating copies of the bobbleheads with something like Doppelgang.

Got all the precons on order. Gonna be building Caesar and Madison Li.
All the flavor is amazing. Some banger cards too. Caesar is a very strong mardu aggro/aristocrats commander; and Madison Li is gonna be a great energy commander once energy gets a tad bit more support.
More energy support is on the 'horizon' 🙃
I also just ordered the precons but I only preordered the mothman one because I like to play very aggressive.
I preordered Caesar and got some Legion themed cards to sub in. Gonna build that one out. Also ordered Mutant, that deck seems pretty fun and worth keeping intact.
Fun fact: the highest chance to win with the Luck Bubblehead is when you have exactly 42 bubbleheads and then it's ~16%, so good luck.

Powder Ganger cannot return to the battlefield as it should have had a finality counter on it (and thus exiled)
Losing 3.6 life on average due to rad counters. Not great, not terrible.
I think the giant moth killing with commander damage as a result of milling nonlands is a bit more important lol

At the end of the game, powder ganger should have had a finality counter on him. when sacrificed he should have been exiled and not been able to be recured. great game nonetheless.

Powder Ganger had a finality counter. I don't think it matters, but it wouldn't come back the second time. It would be in exile

I haven't been this excited for precons since the 40k set, but where those fell on their face in the regard that Chaos was woefully underpowered compared to the other 3, every last one of these decks looks like they slap.
47:05 I'm sure someone else has pointed this out already, but the powder ganger would have been exiled because it gets brought back with a finality counter. Don't think it made a difference in the outcome though
So the bear says that it destroys any number of artifacts or enchantments equal to x, and Jim made x=2....
...so why didnt he just destroy the Overencumbered? He'd get to keep the artifacts it gave him and have none of the downside, on top of removing everyone else's stuff.

It's not a number of artifacts up to or equal to x. It's a number of artifacts with mana value less than or equal to x. So destroying the Overencumbered would have used up the whole ability, while destroying the clue and food was free and he could still destroy the two Bloodforged Battle-axes
Wait a second.... 2 mana destroy all of your opponents treasures, Mana Vaults, etc. while not touching your own?!? I don't know much about the cEDH meta, but this sounds really good

The bobble heads are meant for Mr. House CEO. In the game a side mission is to find all the bobble heads through the world of new Vegas for Mr. House as he’s a collector.
In New Vegas, you find him snowglobes and he buys them from you for 2,000 caps.

Around 20:12 , I swear that by playing Rampaging Yao Guai, with X=2, couldn't he have also destroyed the enchantment aura, overencumbered?
Is it just me or does The Wise Mothman suffer from the same problem that the Tyranid deck from 40k did... gets out fast, super terrifying and makes everyone find a can of bug spray... and just to make sure that it is effective they add a lighter and just torch the poor bug person to ash.

Jim was being VERY nice with mothman when it was out. He could’ve easily got rid of Eliot earlier in the game but chose to spread the love to Alex.

When you proliferate you get to choose the permanent / player and NOT choose what type of counters to increase so if you choose a player you must increase the Rad and Energy counters
At 21:00 was it a miss play to not also destroy the Over Encumbered or did I miss something? Since it says any number of artifacts and/or enchantments

Because of the wording on chapters 2 and 3 of the Vault 12 saga, shouldn't the zombie mutant creatures get four +1/+1 counters instead of two since they are considered Zombie and Mutants?
No, if it is a Zombie or if it is a Mutant do X. It would have to read put 2 counters on your zombies and then on a separate line 2 counter on your mutants to do what you're describing.
So Eliot shouldn't have been able to equip grim reapers sprint to Dogmeat because of the silver shroud costume giving Dogmeat shroud until end of turn right?
