Im at the 23:29 scutes and I believe you only get the scutes that are on the field twice so first land, 2 triggers so 3 scutes. Then he plays the second land so he should be at 9 scutes. Springbloom puts 2 lands at the same time, so that triggers the 9 scutes 4 times, making it 45 total (9 + 4x9). The land after triggers the 45 scutes twice, making the total 135. Plains from graveyard makes it 405 (135+135*2)
Should have been 3x the swarms each trigger instead of 4x (since the duplicated trigger only "sees" the original number of swarms). Trusting Alex to have noticed each trigger, there were 6 triggers for 4^6 = 4096 swarms (incorrectly). It should have been 3^6 = 729 swarms. The only way this realistically impacts the game is if Aaron having 9 swarms instead of 16 would have let Bill kill off most/all of them, but that does seem potentially possible. 4 instants/sorceries would leave Aaron with 1 swarm (but he could create 81 the next turn - still enough for lethal). The big question is whether Bill could have played 5 instants/sorceries.
1 scute, it triggers twice making 2 scutes for 3 total. Second land, three scutes trigger twice, making 6 scutes for a grand total of 9 scutes. The reason this is the case is the scutes that enter off the triggers will not see the land entering the field and don't get triggers so you would take the number of existing scutes and instead of doubling it, you triple it, not quadruple it. When the springbloom happens, you would take the current number of scutes (9) and multiply it by 5 as the lands trigger all the existing scutes twice, twice. Giving 45 Scutes. Because the lands enter at the same time not one after another you again do not get to have scutes entering the battlefield see those lands enter.
Honestly, game-determinative mistakes happen all the time and in a format as complex as Commander, that stuff is gonna happen. It happens in a lot of board games and such too.
Yeah, but the spellslinger deck is a tier above the others this time around. Usually they're pretty good about keeping the precons pretty balanced, but they went hard on Izzet this time.
why the heck did bill keep shooting maddie and then alex instead the obivious threat next to him with the Horrors, in the last rotation alone he had the 8 missing damage to kill him
The time that Aaron played scute swarm all Horrors triggers should have went to his face. The 8 life he had at the end would have been 0 a long time ago. I know they still play for content and this round of precons , the izzet one is just better than the others, but damn it feels bad.
12:39 Veyran should have triggered to give Stella an additional trigger because its Veyran whos checking if it was a instant or sorcery spell or copy that triggered the ability. It doesnt matter if Stella specifically requires instant or sorceries (which it doesnt). Edit: lol thanks Alex for mentioning it. This comment here for clarification.
Really digging the new overlay :) Good Game, and thanks for the trigger (pun intended) warning at the beginning, though we all make mistakes so no worries, it's the content we're here for :P not the REL:Tournament.
one card that is a really good addition to Bill's deck is crashing drawbridge. you can tap it to give all your creatures haste and it's really cheap so it fits into the budget really well. I am buying the quick draw deck and the outlaws' deck. I can't wait to play them. I've added the upgrades to my buy list. I like the inclusion of Pink horror
Appreciate the content and love the show! Games with T1 Sol Ring into Signet aren't that exciting to me though. Felt like Alex and Maddy's decks didn't get to do anything because they were so far behind from having their creatures get sniped while Aaron just focused on dredging Life from the Loam for a few turns to get the engine going.
I am pretty sure Stella's first ability does trigger twice if the spell you cast was an instant or sorcery for Veyran. Kind on like how Teysa Karlov doubles "enters the graveyard" abilities if the reason it entered the graveyard was that it died.
Turn 5. Bill: “I’m going to play this mountain for land for turn.” *serum visions resolves* Bill on turn 5 still: “play this exotic orchard for land for turn.”
This is the 4th Game of the new precon Games i watched, but in all of them noone ever tapped Stella lee for her active ability; do i miss something with her?
Im not sure if it was noticed but when the Finale of Revelation was cast with x as 10 it looks like Bill didnt shuffle his graveyard into his library. 22:34
Wow, they printed a card named Greensleeves. That takes me back! Those books were a great read (The Magic: The Gathering: Greensleeves book series by Clayton Emery includes books Whispering Woods, Shattered Chains, and Final Sacrifice).
I typed up a whole thing about the Veyran and Stella Lee interaction, then told myself to wait and see if yall corrected it. Very nice job, im glad i was a little patient. Great catch Alex
I've become a huge fan of this channel! Keep up the good work. Could Bill of used Stella Lee's tap ability to preventing her from attacking even if there isn't a spell to copy?
We do our mulligans before we turn the cameras on, then we put our decks in the bastions. Looks like Maddy just put her opening hand in the bastion as well!
The Scute Swarm Ancient Greenwarden interaction does not work like this at 23:50. The Scute Swarm should have triggered twice, making 2 copies of itself so 3 in total. Then playing the next land would make the 3 Scute Swarms trigger twice each making 6 more, so he should have had 9 total Scute Swarms, not 16.
Can someone explain why the grand larcany deck did so badly? Im looking at either that or the most wanted one as my first MTG deck. Any tips on choosing/reasons?
This video is last, but was this video finished rendering BEFORE the first video went live? Did Fil (edit: Alex) completely troll us with the Band names?
Am I missing something? Why did Bill kept pinging Alex with the blue horror tokens on his last turn instead of Aaron? He could've taken Aaron out of the game with 8 damage from pings plus the 11 that he dealt in combat.
Sooooooo many Blue Horror triggers that could have been spent picking off Scute Swarms before things got crazy that were instead wasted on people’s faces
I don't really get why Arcane Denial was cut from the Quick Draw precon. It's one of the best counter spells for commander because it replaces itself meaning you don't fall behind the other two players. Worst case scenario, you impulse draw it, and then counter one of your own things to draw 3.
I enjoy all the gameplay from you all! It’s not a complaint, just mentioning. I like the new panels, when introducing the decks, but it’s harder to read on my phone than before. One of my favorite parts is reading the little quirks in those panels. Text seems smaller? Maybe I’m just an old. Also I think with Bill cheating, his turn 5 double land drop, he should lose a win from one of the other games. 🤣 jk
Spoiler to outcome: They let Aaron win, all that removal, there was the 2 instants of destroy 2 creatures and several of the creature that deals 2 to any target. None went at the scute swarm early... Fun match but upsetting to see that no one handled the biggest threat in a landfall deck
Everyone constantly targeting Maddy and taking her out first kinda made the video less interesting. She was already behind and can’t play the really interesting deck at all
I got pretty lucky considering we didn't even know most of the cards in our own decks at the time of filming, let alone what our opponents had. Chaos wand is a fun card :)
@TheSpikeFeeders fair enough I just feel like decks that want to sling multiple instants and sorceries play lower impact ones where as the odds of hitting a border wipe are higher in other decks. That being said I love dice rolling cards. Even I'd they don't actually roll dice lol.
Why didn't Maddy ever cast gonti? Lol. All those evasive tiny guys don't really do anything without him...nobody's ever won a game by just using Chaos Wand once per turn & then discarding to hand size 😂.
Besides the wrong math, this was an incredibly boring way to showcase the supposed changes of the decks. One deck only played one card most of the game (Life from the Loam) and the other was so incredibly ahead that most of the game revolved around it. 😢
How dare ya'll post this video with mistakes that everyone makes on occasion thereby making the crew feel more relatable to the average mtg player. 😡🤬😠
The one we didn't play were reprints or legendary creatures that don't have enough colours to be commanders for their decks. We played the new face commanders and the new alternate commanders.
THIS IS THE PINNED COMMENT SHOW YOUR MATH HERE PLEASE
Yes
2+2=4

Stella Lee could even be creazier if she was actually activated.
Bill on turn 5: “im gonna play this mountain for turn”
Bill during the same turn: “im gonna play this exotic orchid for turn”
7:34 lol'd good at "it's gonna be a short f*ckin game" 🤣🤣
Honestly, game-determinative mistakes happen all the time and in a format as complex as Commander, that stuff is gonna happen. It happens in a lot of board games and such too.
Only 15 minutes in, but no matter the deck, bill is a menace, and must be dealt with.
I agree, elliot must be stopped
Only 3 minutes in really, being a spoiler slinging menace.
Yeah, but the spellslinger deck is a tier above the others this time around. Usually they're pretty good about keeping the precons pretty balanced, but they went hard on Izzet this time.
Wow, prime example of Sol Ring + Signet power on T1. Instant archenemy
Love the opening with Alex just staring into your soul as Maddy pitches.
thanks for a week of fun content maybe we'll even see these commanders again later!
why the heck did bill keep shooting maddie and then alex instead the obivious threat next to him with the Horrors, in the last rotation alone he had the 8 missing damage to kill him
This is the real question.
Like Alex had no board presence, Aaron was the literal threat
Common commander player mistake. He wrote off winning and decided to play for second.
The time that Aaron played scute swarm all Horrors triggers should have went to his face. The 8 life he had at the end would have been 0 a long time ago. I know they still play for content and this round of precons , the izzet one is just better than the others, but damn it feels bad.

Case of the Locked Hothouse is so underrated. Glad to see it getting love here
Untap 5 lands and also shuffle your graveyard into your library prior to draw when x is 10 or more on finale of revelation
Shuffle, then draw, and then you untap
@@MagicAlaskan I had meant just the shuffle prior to draw since it effects the draw. Anyway, player does neither untap or shuffle despite the x=10
Bill could’ve killed Aaron with the blue menace triggers
All the new art and updated intro are amazing -- great work team!
Great work guys. One of my favorite commander channels. Always a pleasure to
Really digging the new overlay :) Good Game, and thanks for the trigger (pun intended) warning at the beginning, though we all make mistakes so no worries, it's the content we're here for :P not the REL:Tournament.
I dont know why he didnt copy some instants or sorcerys. He would get so much value out of it.
one card that is a really good addition to Bill's deck is crashing drawbridge. you can tap it to give all your creatures haste and it's really cheap so it fits into the budget really well. I am buying the quick draw deck and the outlaws' deck. I can't wait to play them. I've added the upgrades to my buy list. I like the inclusion of Pink horror

Remember: scavenger grounds can sacrifice any desert to do it's effects, don't need to be itself
I am pretty sure Stella's first ability does trigger twice if the spell you cast was an instant or sorcery for Veyran. Kind on like how Teysa Karlov doubles "enters the graveyard" abilities if the reason it entered the graveyard was that it died.
This was a banger video, I have thoroughly enjoyed all these videos. Bill was such a joy to see!
Love the way that desert bloom just explodes everything when is filled with random st
Turn 5. Bill: “I’m going to play this mountain for land for turn.” *serum visions resolves*
Bill on turn 5 still: “play this exotic orchard for land for turn.”
this was good, thank you for including game corrections with the title cards.
This is the 4th Game of the new precon Games i watched, but in all of them noone ever tapped Stella lee for her active ability; do i miss something with her?
This was my thought lol.
The continuation of the bon jovi mistake in the descriptions is gold.
Thank you so much for always uploading at my lunch time
I typed up a whole thing about the Veyran and Stella Lee interaction, then told myself to wait and see if yall corrected it. Very nice job, im glad i was a little patient. Great catch Alex
Man, games can get complicated. Thanks for the fun show, team!
ya'll are killin it with the content!
Alex’s utterance at 7:30 is so funny
I really like the new style you switched to :)
Great group.. I'll watch this in a bit..
Great intro to filter all the trolls who like to point out every fricken mistake like they are judging the pro tour
I've become a huge fan of this channel! Keep up the good work.
Could Bill of used Stella Lee's tap ability to preventing her from attacking even if there isn't a spell to copy?
the quick draw precon is named quick shot in the deck names :D
Did Maddy pull her hand form the bottom of the deck at 4:35?
Do you guys prep your startinghands?
We do our mulligans before we turn the cameras on, then we put our decks in the bastions. Looks like Maddy just put her opening hand in the bastion as well!
Note bills second land drop on turn 5 lol
SOLID AS A ROCKKKK
My number one addition to Stella Lee would always be Twisted Fealty. Above anything else. It's new, it's cheap and it kills.
So... did I see Bill play a second land for the turn at 13:46? First a mountain then after a bunch of triggers an exotic orchad.
Did Crackling Spellslinger get milled or discarded in each of these matches?
It did
Bill played two lands for turn fyi, second land at 1410, first at start of turn.
Not tapping Stella for any of his spells was a huge miss
Can someone explain why the grand larcany deck did so badly?
Im looking at either that or the most wanted one as my first MTG deck. Any tips on choosing/reasons?
Aaron didn't even play Yuma. He was just playing landfall lol
This video is last, but was this video finished rendering BEFORE the first video went live? Did Fil (edit: Alex) completely troll us with the Band names?
I sure did
Lets go my first precon won the first vid i watch lets gooo
Am I missing something? Why did Bill kept pinging Alex with the blue horror tokens on his last turn instead of Aaron? He could've taken Aaron out of the game with 8 damage from pings plus the 11 that he dealt in combat.
Sooooooo many Blue Horror triggers that could have been spent picking off Scute Swarms before things got crazy that were instead wasted on people’s faces
Real Alt Commander for the Desert deck is Hazaezon
bill played a mountain and an exotic orchard in the same turn
I don't really get why Arcane Denial was cut from the Quick Draw precon. It's one of the best counter spells for commander because it replaces itself meaning you don't fall behind the other two players. Worst case scenario, you impulse draw it, and then counter one of your own things to draw 3.
Because Aaron probably doesn't know how good it is. Some people see it and think "what?!?!? It gives two cards to an opponent?!?! It must be trash"
Caught the Bon Jovi theme and the wrong Boston song from last game...nice
Omg where did you guys get dthose gigantic dices? A need the m, also great game jajaja
We sell them in our online shop! The link is in the show notes.
Prediction that is a scute swarm/multiple land spell trigger
Why did Bill focus on Maddy and Alex with his triggers instead of the person with thousands of Scutes?!
I do wonder why Bill kept throwing damage at Alex when he could have dealt with Aaron
Bill could have counterd the Curtain Call by sacking the Stormtamer but the game would have been even shorter I guess!
i thought the number of scutes mattered but it did not
729 scutes swarms. It was still more than enough.
Aaron is a great pre con upgrader..
🤣 jk
how many of the insect wizard tokens you guys need lol i got a bunch
Spoiler to outcome:
They let Aaron win, all that removal, there was the 2 instants of destroy 2 creatures and several of the creature that deals 2 to any target. None went at the scute swarm early...
Fun match but upsetting to see that no one handled the biggest threat in a landfall deck
Stella Lee, destroy on sight. Got it.
You took out culling ritual?!?!?! that's the best golgari spell in magic, wtf?
So did Aaron never cast Yuma at all??
Everyone constantly targeting Maddy and taking her out first kinda made the video less interesting. She was already behind and can’t play the really interesting deck at all
It's a basement dweller's way of flirting apparently
Interesting but bad ?
Feel like Bill should have been shooting Aaron instead of Alex at the end there. Might have had the kill if he had.
Chaos wand probably should ever focus a spells deck 90 percent of the targets are just cantrips
Ok … the busted deck with a busted start what could go wrong 😂
So I’m going to say y’all should’ve had at least 7
Way past everyone brainstorms wrong, everyone panharmoniscutes wrong
🤣🤣 Gonna be a short *Fkkin game
29:52 ???? MUSHROOM MUSROOM
Quick Draw's already too-high mana value actually increased by 13 with the upgrades. That's not how I like to do it.
Fun game! Stella is pretty busted, especially compared to the other face commanders. But oh my what a misplay mayhem it was 🫣
Why didn't Maddy ever cast gonti? Lol. All those evasive tiny guys don't really do anything without him...nobody's ever won a game by just using Chaos Wand once per turn & then discarding to hand size 😂.
Could bill have not just pinged Aaron to kill him?
Why did you guys let scute swarm live? Why target Maddy when the scute was right there? Someone got hella tunnel visioned.
Man everyone's playing the precons so much on social media before it comes out that im not even interested in it anymore.
🎻🤏
Don't understand how Electrostatic Field and Arcane Denial was cut from the precon while Leyline Dowser is still in
Let’s gooooo
Like this comment to tell me what a Bon Jovi is
It's what you say to someone who's about to eat
It's how you say good morning in Italian
FIRST
I watched this video because of yuma 😅
Half the budget spent on being ripper lol
Besides the wrong math, this was an incredibly boring way to showcase the supposed changes of the decks. One deck only played one card most of the game (Life from the Loam) and the other was so incredibly ahead that most of the game revolved around it. 😢
How dare ya'll post this video with mistakes that everyone makes on occasion thereby making the crew feel more relatable to the average mtg player. 😡🤬😠
Love you guys but i don't really see the point of videos to showcase the decks if 3/4 of the commanders are never played
The one we didn't play were reprints or legendary creatures that don't have enough colours to be commanders for their decks.
We played the new face commanders and the new alternate commanders.
a l e x y o u g o t t a s t o p. pick one "we" or "i" P L E A S E
thx for the warning, will be skipping this one
The new intro with the spike animation sounds like when you step into a new route in pokemon lmao
