      In the end the house always wins, not worth it. And these RuneScape websites for it have a lot of fishy stuff going on in them - even more reason not to.

    • @Rick020
      @Rick020 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      My first experience with a casino was positive, probably the worst to have cuz it encourages you to continue. First time I won big time, second time I lost a little... and the next 10 times I also went even or lost. You're just playing a game and don't even notice it is about your own money anymore. I always went with friends so we always had a nice evening, but in the end... all of us lost money.
      Same for betting (online) on football matches. I started slowly, made a couple of tens a month and within 3 months I had my best month: +€1500. And then the greed started to kick in, lost over €2k in the month after. Football matches are at least predictable, and taking risks are rewarded.
      I threw away my Casino card and self banned my online betting accounts for the max duration (2 yrs or something?). Not touching that shit ever again. Not worth it!
      Edit: I was barely 18 at the time with an income of €100/mo...

      @Rick020 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      jakob 123 Main warning is that you get easily hooked, especially if the first few times went good. RS gp might sound innocent, but you don't get just a 'RS gp gambling addiction'. No, you get an actual 'gambling addiction'. Just be careful and stop right after you start thinking the wrong way (i.e. get greedy and continue to play until you lose all, or already lost a lot and trying to cover up your loses with more gambles --> usually this results in even more loses).
      Nothing wrong with trying, but please stop right after the first signs of addiction appear.

  • @sideless6706
    @sideless6706 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    So some things to take into account. No matter what game you play you will be at a lose. Generally these sites wouldn't need to rob you because they are already doing that the second you put money down. It has to do with the house edge which gets really complicated at times so just look up a video. But essentially after 1000 hands the player will be down. So even if you win in the short term you will end up at a deficit in the long term. I am sure there is some greedy person who does rig the games but not rigging the games would actually create an environment where more money can potentially be won since people who win quickly often will often work themselves and believe they are somehow skilled at a game of chance this leads to them trying to win big again only to lose then betting more to recoup their loses. This can be done with zero cheating and if you ever watch a roulette table for a few hours you'll see it happen at an alarmingly high rate.
    Remember the only way to win is to not play and all big wins are temporary the average is losing.

  • @TheSneakyAnderson
    @TheSneakyAnderson 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Welp, since the Xing video was just taken down, I'll post my thoughts here since they pretty much overlap with gambling anyway. Nobody deserves to be swatted or doxxed, but from my perspective I don't really care if these people face repercussions for their actions. They know full well what they're getting into, and if their community is really that toxic then you make your own bedfellows.

    I've bought upwards of a few hundred mil from online sites, never been banned. It's just hard to detect is all. Who's to say that person isn't giving their friend money? It's simply just too big of a hastle to do it and has too big of a risk of banning people who indeed did NOT buy GP.

  • @Mr-Nooby
    @Mr-Nooby 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I find it interesting that they don't ban the consumers as you put it.
    I'm a WoW player, and for a little while during the previous expansion, the game had a problem with dupers. The dupers would sell in bulk to normal players like myself, and we would then sell them at regular prices for large amounts of profit.
    The dupers were getting banned fairly quickly, but those like me who purchased them for resale were left unpunished. I eventually got a warning and stopped, and not long after, Blizzard cracked down hard by permanantly banning many of those who continued to buy off them, and still do so now. They discouraged and stifled out the dupers not by banning them, but by making their customers too afraid to buy off them anymore.
    I think Jagex could find a similar solution.

    Jagex making player run games of chance is one of the things that made quit rs2. I was vocal on the forums and fansites saying the best course of action was to make it as secure as staking so that the winner got the money. We did not need a rule for this it is already against the rules to scam and rwt. We did not need a new rule to curtaila gambling activity that no barring any scamming was pretty fun.

  • @xygomorphic44
    @xygomorphic44 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    True gambling as a business is fundamentally, mathematically unsustainable. All the "gambling" you see is 100% rigged in the favor of the company. Granted, it's still possible to win big, but the likelihood of that is so low and a false illusion that causes people to become addicted to the site and keep coming back to empty their wallets.

    • @Djme2
      @Djme2 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      im not watching anyones pockets. I'm saying they were massive suppliers of gp for rwt. getting rid of a major source of supply = reduce rwt. i dont care if anyone sells gold, i dont even play rs anymore, im just explaining why it was a problem for jagex, not for myself.

    • @killler240
      @killler240 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Djme2 there has never been a shortage of GP to RWT with, all that happened was who was getting the money changed.

    • @Djme2
      @Djme2 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Econ 101 - decrease supply = increase price = decrease demand = decrease rwt. I never said there was a shortage of gp to rwt. The opposite way to look at this, hosts make lots of money, they sell lots, the price decreases, now more people are willing to buy, demand increase, rwt increase. can't spell out everything for you kid

Thiss drive for people to gamble through Runescape has kept it alive and has been a huge revenue source for Jagex. Jagex might see some of this as a necessary evil to keep the game one of the most popular mmos.

I've also done gp transfers personally from rs3 to osrs, and there's no issues. I think jag ex probably just treats it the same as if you had a whale friend who you asked for help / a loan. Imagine being mid level and have your friend chuck you like 20m rs3 for a bond, just to get banned for gold purchasing.

    That mil number may or may not be inflated but I find it hard to believe third party runescape gp gambling is a multi-million dollar industry. If it is I have to wonder who the fuck is doing it rather than just gambling cash on a semi-legit site.

    rake has a cap, and MUST have a cap. Go to any real casino and play a bit and you'll see why that is, and why that HAS TO BE. They can't make anywhere close to 300,000 a year. Due to rake cap, it's more like 1-1.5%. Hence, about $90,000 a year.

    Instead of taking gambling out of the game they should have revamped the duel arena with games of chance and instead of players running the games it would be one of their npc imagine how much gold it would have sink

    @Crumb I have to say. After the recent accusations against you this change in format in this kind of video was amazing! Not only did you do a great job of not endorsing gambling or any specific person. You also maintained the same intriguing underground speculation that your viewers or me at least love to see in your content. I watched the whole video and was entertained the whole way through. Thank you for catering to your haters but at the same time remaining true to the roots you instill in to your videos. Much love brother, please keep this fascinating content coming.
