My parents and the majority of Chinese parents they met in US are the latter ones. Those who have stable income after retirement would rather live in a place with many old friends.

应该是比较普遍的现象。我认识不少来美国的老人，大部分是女士更容易适应，也更愿意开口学习说简单英语。我爸是退休大学教授，还靠着字典翻译过一些专业英文文献，可是他在美国不太敢开口。我妈以前就是认识英语字母的水平，但在美国生活的时候，和邻居去上社区教会办的英语班，虽然边学边忘，但是她能用零星单词和人有效沟通😂 他们和朋友结伴坐公交出去逛，主要靠我妈和老外沟通，我们都很佩服她
