Hello vs hey vs yo… I think it really depends on the occasion. “Hey” is an informal way of greeting. I typically don’t use it with my boss, unless we are very close. I would never use it with my clients. “Yo” just sounds bad to me.

问一个最最最简单的问题: 在"谢谢"和"不用谢" 这一对简单的对话中"不用谢"的最贴切英文译文是什么?
我知道You're welcome or my pleasure 是常用的标准答案. 没有错. 但是总觉得在字面上它们没有表达出中文"不用谢"之本意, 有一点不"达", 有明显的英国文化味(汉译应译成: 愿为效劳).

在美国住了几年，感觉hello, hi, hey, 都差不多，hello是少一点，倒也不至于用了或者听见会尴尬吧，可能native speaker之间沟通会敏感点，但外国人其实没所谓，好比一个老外在中国用第四声说ni hao，听着怪怪的，不过都在预期之中。而Thank you, thanks, 就是那种一笔带过的客套话，一般就用在不是真的需要谢谢的场合，比如买单啊拿食物啊路过让一让啊，thanks还不够么。
在美十几年从来都是我跟老美说hi，老美回我hello😂
我的感觉是，native 说 hello 的时候一般都会拖长音说，尤其是在一对多的场合的时候，就有些像是 你好/大家好 的意思，真是偏向正式场合。

It's not a defeat. The way you learn a second language will always help you learn a 3rd, 4th, etc.
