I remember the first video I watched on this channel was the throttle body spacer install, and it was filled with profanity, that’s what made me like it. Gotta love the good old days. Good job on the vids.
I enjoy your channel, I have been a subscriber of yours for almost 5 years. I really enjoy your cooking videos, old rant videos, and the F150 repair videos. I hope this channel stays alive, but the way youtube is going I wouldn't be surprised if youtube just totally falls apart and no longer exists soon!
Jerry , I have watched your channels since day one and will continue to do so . I really like your content and your little buddy Tomcat . I remember when you rebuilt your transfer case back in the day . The new blind hole bearing puller you purchased is awesome and made quick work on those bearings . Tomcat had me cracking up when he was swatting at you from the ledge . What a little character. Take care and belly rubs to Tomcat for me .
An easy method for pulling blind hole needle bearings is to put grease in the bottom of the hole. Take a shaft (I use a wooden dowel) of the same diameter. You could also use an old transmission shaft. Drive the shaft in with a hammer with a few sharp blows. The hydraulic pressure will push the bearing right out. Works every time. I use that method for removing pilot bushings in the end of the crankshaft.
one of the blind bearings has an oil feed gallery.... so that wont work. This only works when the grease (or wet bread) has no place to go beyond pushing whatever is there out of the way (bearing)
You should use Assemblee Goo for putting your t-case together. It's nice and sticky when you want to like hold those bearings together. Mix it with ATF, and it is the slickest stuff that will protect rubber seals from rolling or sticking out and cutting.
I've been watching your channel for sometime now and reference the videos often. I have a 03 TJ that I've owned sense new and it's time for a LS upgrade so keep up with the great videos. Don't go PC on me now, I can handle the real Jerry.
I just replaced my TJ's radiator (deer strike in Oct.). I had an all aluminum 2 row that was expensive, but ok (it was pushed into the fan). I didn't want to spend another $500 (US) again, so I searched and found this: CSF 2576 Metal Core Brass Tank Radiator for $260 US. I see no difference between it and the all aluminum unit it replaced. Not sure what shipping it to Canada run you, but it's half the price here. Great blog! 👍
Good job you doing what's that white stuff and your backyard I live in Texas and it's 85 degrees already and we've been getting a whole crapload of rain
Jerry, did the mod hold up? Nice video man. I plan to do this soon to my jeep. I live in 4X4 country and it's hard to find this stuff at the junk yards.
You're awesome, dude. This video is a keeper so I downloaded it. (Also, I am glad to see that Tomcat is doing well, at least he was when this video was made.) Thank you & thumbs up!
what blind hole bearing puller sizes did you end up using. Want to get myself a kit... I rented one.... and it did not have sizes needed in the kit. Was nervous about pressing against the case with one of these too.. Seems your case held up fine to it
Not sure what craters means but mine has been goin strong since 2011 I love it With front and rear lockers it gets hard to turn in the tight woods even with hydro assist steering so I use 2wd low a lot
Jerry, I love your project on this swap over but with all of the changes you have done how will you or anyone ever be able to replace any of the parts. It's like that country song from Johnny Cash "one piece at a time" where he built a car from several different years and pieced it all together.
confused.... are you rebuilding a 6 gear planetary... did your 4 gear unit have the other two holes or did you drill them out??? My 3 gear only has three holes. there are recesses where the other three holes would be., but they are not machined out.
Don’t think it would get totally demonetized but videos do from time to time. That is why I started the other channel years ago as back up. That is where all the DIY videos go now
@@BackCountryWrenching like both your channels I'm going to do my SYE kit myself , never realized how easy it was till I watched you do it. Where did you get the drive shaft for yours?

Moving right along. I would be looking for those needle bearings for days. 👍

Until that time I will hopefully ride it out till the end

I know right the blind hole puller is a must for sure. Made easy work of that bearing.

Ahhh, sold on the blind hole bearing puller. Fuck all that grinding, good call.
“Might get a snowstorm yet”-pretty good one on the weekend!
This past weekend we sure did good thing it’s melting fast
Nice job on the planetary Jerry.I think you should be ok with the 4:56 gears,if they are too low you could go to a 35in. tire...

Tom Cat is so funny & you're such a good dad, LMAO AT HIM ON THE LEDGE.

That radiator won’t work for me
Looks allot better than the die grinder last time lol

Boy have we
OMG!!!! That is what I am doing tomorrow!!!!!!
Thinking about doing this to mine when I add the 2low next but just wondering what the benefit of 6 over 3 is? All I can find is increased torque?
Ben, Stronger and more contact area. I plan to do this to my jeep soon. I live in 4x4 country. and it's hard to fine this stuff at the junk yards.

Where do you Canadians get all those names that I have never heard b4 4 yer beers?
Tomcat is still good, he’s old so I have to keep a close eye on him
@@BackCountryWrenching Thank you.

no idea what size now it was in the kit i got
**Question ..my Sun Gear in planetary gear turn smooth as butter but once I put it into the case it locks up. I can't figure it out.
What year(s) 231C will mate to the 231J?
You should put a teraflex 2wd low kit in it while its apart . That’s one of the best upgrades I’ve ever done to my Jeep
Is that the same teraflex kit that craters at over 2500 rpms?
Not sure what craters means but mine has been goin strong since 2011 I love it

That puller is pretty nice. Did you get that one off amazon or PA?
Off amazon company is 8mile lake comes in a blue case now for decently priced. Link for Canadians is in the description

I will remember someone else may have some challenges but that’s to be expected if someone buys a custom build
@Bullshitkorner Hello, could you tell me where have you bought needle bearings? Or what size they should be?
I didn’t buy any needle bearings
Bullshitkorner at 6.23 you are putting rollers inside. Could you explain me this process? You used old ones?
King Kitty!
He likes to think so anyways
Looking pretty bad-ass Jerry, though Tomcats doesn’t seem to be impressed.
He’s funny that way, when he’s above me he turns into a little ass
I would have traded that Jeep in for a Corvette, way more reliable.
Good point I could have got a Vette and cash back 😂😂😂🍻
Makes zero sense to you because you lack the skills to build such a project.
I'll stick around until it gets to "well it's chai latte with soy time", then I'm out! Lmfao... Fuck PC bullshit!
Jerry you send me some of that budda 🚬& I'll send you a radiator
Lol that would be highly illegal

I machined them out and added them

Can’t remember now but any driveline place can make you a driveshaft
You need to find a woman that has a nice female cat the Tomcat can have a little fun
He’s fixed so he wouldn’t do anything but maybe fight the other cat lol
What does 5 planetary gears do cs 3 from the stock NP231? It doesn't change the gear ratio does it?
Spreads out the transfer of torque more and makes more noise
@@BackCountryWrenching Thanks! Strength. I was hoping it was for reduction as well.
