To me the Birkin looks better. But the Kelly looks like can fit more things, and you can carry it on your shoulder. Thats huge for me, I like only cross body bags.

I never understaood why people were so obsessed with the Birkin in 200s-2010s because I thought they were boring most of the times boring or even ugly,then I recently saw some really good bags but I didn’t know they were Kelly. Indeed, it’s just easy to understand what it a Kelly because it’s more “compact” and I like it more. It’s incredible how small changes can totally change an opinion. I personally prefer the Kelly a way more. Thanks for this review,it’s so complete and detailed,now I do understand their differences better.

Love your gold Kelly! That's definitely on my list but for a K28. I recently bought a vintage K32 in excellent condition (hardly worn by the owner) and brought it to Hermes to have it sent to Hermes Spa but the SA said there is no need for one because it is in almost perfect condition. As I closed my Kelly the same way you do, the SA warned me that if I want to keep my handbag in the same condition, I should put the belt in the turnlock as not doing so could create the worst (and most expensive) damage to my handbag! She said, letting the turnlock carry all the weight without support (of the belt) can damage it easily and it is, apparently, the most expensive and difficult part to repair (Hermes needs to remove the whole plate and change it - that means, opening the leather tab of the bag!). So yeah, inasmuch as it is easier to leave it 'undone' I have since painstakingly close my bag by putting the belt in before turning the lock.

Not to rain on your parade, but have you gotten the bag authenticated At an hermes store? The bags retail starting at $12,000. Their resale value depending on condition can be close to retail. I find it hard to believe a luxury bag like thar would be passed up so many opportunities of be resold. A very good replica can be bought for $150 and will fool everyone unless inspected closely.

a bit more details about these 2 wonders : Kelly: “le sac à dépêche” (basically an old-fashioned way to call a brief case) was inspired by « le haut à courroies » which was a bag used by horsemen to store they boots and saddles. The bad changed around the 30s to become smaller and more more of a trapeze shape which ultimately give it a more feminine flair. Birkin: Hermes CEO, also took inspiration from « le haut à courroies » to design it with Jane. Making it smaller with two handles and a wider opening for more practicality.

Best Birkin & Kelly comparison video I’ve seen! Both beautiful bags! I recently got the Kelly bag in retourne Togo. I’ve noticed that there is air space between the outer leather & inner leather of the flap. Is this how it’s supposed to be in Kelly bags?

Very informative, I think you are a fabulous woman! However, now I know WHY I have always thought that these bags remind me of old ladies bags, cause if they were worn by Grace Kelly in the 50's, well then I was a kid in the 60s AND the are, in fact , old ladies bags! As I remember! These prices are a bit of a scam. And the "one craftsman " that makes them, oh be real! Has he been making them since 1945?
A really great video, Mel. I am definitely team Kelly. I don't like the birkin at all. I guess it just depends on everybody's own style and taste. I totally agree with you that the kelly shouldn't be worn open. I have seen several youtubers wearing it like that lately and to me it just seems to make a sleek, elegant bag look like a sloppy joe. A video on the organisers would be really helpful. What also caught my eye was your bag holder. I have never seen one of those before. Red & Gold- 35 cm Orange- 30 cm. My all time favorite color is red & orange and since orange is Hermes signature color so I must have to get it. My most use & fav is red and I like the size and I think red is black now; it goes with everything.

Kelly is less produced than the Birkin. As far as I can recall, in every 10 or 100 Birkins made, 1 Kelly is made.

Great & informative!!! I am in love with the style of the Kelly but not a fan of the crazy prices. To each their own, I can't nor would I personally spend that amount on a bag but they are still beautiful. I admire from a far.

Hi Mel, thank you so much for your video, it is so much helpful as I am searching for a birkin 30 myself. The kelly looks so good and elegant but to me it is a bit not convenient due to accessing the bag but the colour is my favourite. Hermes is a dream bag for every girl who love lux goods and also a good investment as well in term of re-sale later. You are so lucky not only to have one but 3.

This was really helpful! I've always liked the look of the Hermes bags, but I hate getting in and out of a bag with too many closures. This definitely put me back on the path to a Birkin! Sounds like it has exactly the features I want. Going to go see if you have a video on those organizers now.

Best Birkin & Kelly comparison video I’ve seen! Both beautiful bags! I recently got the Kelly bag in retourne Togo. I’ve noticed that there is air space between the outer leather & inner leather of the flap. Is this how it’s supposed to be in Kelly bags?

Very informative, I think you are a fabulous woman! However, now I know WHY I have always thought that these bags remind me of old ladies bags, cause if they were worn by Grace Kelly in the 50's, well then I was a kid in the 60s AND the are, in fact , old ladies bags! As I remember! These prices are a bit of a scam. And the "one craftsman " that makes them, oh be real! Has he been making them since 1945?

A really great video, Mel. I am definitely team Kelly. I don't like the birkin at all. I guess it just depends on everybody's own style and taste. I totally agree with you that the kelly shouldn't be worn open. I have seen several youtubers wearing it like that lately and to me it just seems to make a sleek, elegant bag look like a sloppy joe. A video on the organisers would be really helpful. What also caught my eye was your bag holder. I have never seen one of those before. Could you give us some more information about those in one of your future videos? Keep up the good work, lovely.

Orange- 30 cm.
My all time favorite color is red & orange and since orange is Hermes signature color so I must have to get it. My most use & fav is red and I like the size and I think red is black now; it goes with everything.
