I looked at the recipe for pup loaf that I found online (I copied & pasted below) I am wondering how much substituting I can do without needing to add supplements... for example, Can I change the oil to sunflower oil? We always have golden hubbard or amber cup squash here, I assume these would be ok instead of butternut? can you change up the type of protein? chicken or pork instead? 3 pounds beef 90% lean 8 ounces beef heart 5 ounces beef liver 20 ounces chicken gizzards 3 cans sardines in water, minus the juice 6 ounces mussels (3 teaspoons kelp could replace the mussels for trace minerals) 2 teaspoons ground fresh ginger 5 eggs with shell 3 ounces red pepper 5 ounces mixed dark leafy greens (kale, chard, spinach) 4 ounces broccoli 6 ounces butternut squash 3 tablespoons flax seed oil 4 ounces cranberries 4 ounces Shiitake mushrooms
Yes you can change the squash. Yes you can change the proteins. And yes you can change the oil. We recommend rotating proteins if possible, but if your pet has an allergy to a specific protein, it's okay to change out.
Hi Cathy yes leave out the onions. Dogs can’t eat onions. Check out the link for bone broth. drjudymorgan.com/blogs/recipes/how-to-make-bone-broth?_pos=1&_sid=d1e175457&_ss=r
Your moms pup loaf is complete! Yay
Bone meal or eggshell only covers calcium and there's more minerals that your pup needs so how can a meal with eggshel or bone meal be complete?

@@judymorgan4241 does this recipe need to be modified for growing puppies? Is the ground egg shell ok for them to consume?
@@isamari915 They can eat ground eggshell, but diets should be specifically formulated for growth. This is not.
Is ground egg shells safe to give to puppies?
