from what I understand, the Metabones Adapter Mark IV for canon to Sony E-mount is really quite good. Makes it easy to use a Sony with you're awesome Canon glass

I love coming back to older videos of popular youtubers. It gives me motivation to keep pursuing my goals even on days where everything seems to go wrong and you're running on empty. Just keep pushing, keep creating and never give up. You'll get there in the end.

Relatively small + portable = mirrorless cameras. If you are on a budget, the Sony A6000 is a very good camera to start with.

Hey...how about a blog on memory cards. What size, how many, what brand, when to change, how to store them, what if you run out of space in the middle of a shoot, how many do you carry in your gear bag, what if a card gets damaged, can the video be recovered,where do you store videos and for how long?

Your videos, much like this one, teaches me with such fluidity in detail, down to even your word choices and sentence structure, that I now watch many of your videos whilst taking notes on pen/paper. I'm a fcpx user and not a Canon user, but I actually really appreciate this video. You didn't dumb it down and say, It's not the gear, it's the person behind the gear. Ugh. Can't stand when people say that. No shit, sherlock. But the gear needs special praise now adays. We simply wouldn't be able to do what we do without all this current gear. So thank you for not being that guy.

I'm cheap so I use Lightworks (basically free premier with some changes). Haven't used it much, but I'm aiming to work with it some more.

Worked with Premiere for years, edited my short movies with that. Worked well, but now that I do only personal work, honestly, nothing beats DaVinci Resolve. It's powerful and (cherry on the top) it's FREE.

Joseph Haim Buy a camera and look something up if you don't understand.
Just get started Joseph, get a camera learn one thing, shoot, learn another, shoot and so on. Wish you all the best!
Joseph Haim what stage of your life are you at ie. Highschool, College, beyond, etc.? If you are in one of the first two, I would recommend a class from your school if they have one. TH-cam is another great resource that you seem capable of using. Same goes for google.
Learn the basics (exposure, focusing etc.) and progress from there.
PETE (hello!) I love rewatching your videos man, reminiscing and really letting it all sink in. I fully believe there is always more to learn from re-watching/listening/reading anything.
i'd say 80d is the best for average consumers.. (just my opinion)

I agree. It's basically all the AVID and FCP7 people finally agreeing on something that feels similar. Premiere is becoming the industry standard mostly because of the initial launch of FCPX and the fact that the Magnetic Timeline is so alien if you're used to the other method. You just get used to something and stick with it. For instance I love Logic and have used it since it was owned by Emagic, but for hardcore audio editing ProTools is just easier. For composing Logic is the way to go.
I do know that FCPX render/transcode times are faster than Premiere and Premiere does have a tendency to crash from time to time. But yes, FCPX is very professional and I'm sure you'll dig this article about the snobbery of those who think FCPX is iMovie Pro.

Ive been following you on youtube for about a year and am always excited to see your new videos. This one came up after watching several other camera related videos, and i remember watching this for the first time. This is what inspired me to buy a cannon 60D. You are an amazing cinematographer, but what i saw in this video after watching coutless recent videos, is stills. I think it would be cool to see a video about you coming back to the roots of your journey and seeing a video about taking stills, how you edit them, how you set them up, and how you print them.. If you want a good camera which isn't a camcorder but want great video, choose Panasonic. They take pretty decent photos (16-20 MP) and are meant for video most of the time with 4K video available for under $1000.

I want to take pictures of weddings professionally. I have a D3400, I have been taking pictures and studying how the cameras work. I shot a wedding (Not professionally) just to get some experience in. I noticed the real photographers were using incredible cameras and equipment! How am I supposed to be able to compete with that?

Sony is solid for wedding videography. Low light even in 60fps is 👌🏽 pair the A7s II with a cannon glass, and you’re golden pony boy...
I know the feels for the 5D3. I got mine used at a stellar deal, was in amazing condition for how long it was in commission (over 170k shutter actuations when I got it!), and I've been out with it almost every day. Recently the rubberized grip was coming loose at the same spot, but a dab of Krazy Glue locked it in and kept me from fidgeting with it on my shoots!

I bought the 70-200 2.8 Canon lens like the one here in this video about 3 years ago to go traveling, sent it home within the first 2 months as it was just too heavy for my backpack. This video has me amping to use it again though, gonna give it another shot on the road with me
