I love how Maintenance Mark perfectly captures that very specific type of human who is extraordinarily personable and friendly that you can’t help but love, but also does the most infuriating shit on the planet on a regular basis. His *one job* is to look at a big board of green switches and flick one if it turns red. He doesn’t even have to get up to do it. And yet he was sitting back there while that *single light* was red for an entire day, because he just gives that little of a shit. That’s fucking hilarious. I’ve had so many co-workers exactly like Mark, and I swear I can’t help but love them, even when they make my life inconvenient as hell.

Probably my favorite part about this, framed like a horror, story about an allegory, scene of an absolutely every-day happening. It’s all ridiculous when put together, just to rub in every part, for extra seasoning.
i love how this world looks almost like a horror game, everyone is a strange abstract almost monster. But it's just normal, everyone acts like just a normal person, there are more friendly characters than not, even the pipes arent actually dangerous

The animation portrayed that extremely well. Doing everything correctly. Planning it all out, nothing going according to the plan, and at the end of the allegedly painful pipe? Disappointment. Nothing ventured, nothing gained eh? More like Everything ventured, nothing gained.

New? Gwimbly has been around since forever. I know it's not the most popular one, but gwimbly and the search for the magical creamed corn was my favourite in the franchise. I spent days playing it as a kid.
I feel like this whole short shows the importance of patience. Also, love the fact that he wrote all that down and in the amount of time it would have took. He could have just waited it out. And there are other people who seemingly have power. The elevators seem to work. So that means he could have just taken his equipment (or just enough) to the house that offered beer and company instead of stressing out by himself.
This reminds me of when I need to deal with some problem, and my mind builds up anxieties and fears I obsess over which make it seem so much bigger than it really is. I only focus on how it could go wrong. When I finally do it, it takes like ten minutes and turns out to be no big deal.

This might be your magnum opus. Very unique visual style, and very reminiscent of early 3D polygonal video games from the mid to late 1990s, which fits with the main character's job of being a video game critic/satirist. (Though, it could also be just a hobby rather then a job, that he prioritizes too much.) The subtle humor, suspense, mystery, and buildup is all very well done. The character designs are very good, and make great unique use of the limited polygonal style, and pixalized bitmap details. Looks very authentic to old games. If more old polygonal games tried to be more abstract, and expressionistic with their designs (as opposed to try to make things realistic) like this does, I think polygon graphics would be looked on with more nostalgia like old 2D sprite pixel games do, rather then be written off as "outdated graphics." This shows polygons can be artistic too, and be used in other mediums besides nostalgic style indie video games. The issues of choice, fear, priorities, and venturing into the unknown is very well done and satirized here. Very good work.

2 details that i've noticed after re-watching the film. 1- he does some weird pauses during his speech, i guess he is expecting to edit the footage later. 2- you can hear a pig before the big dude talks to the protagonist, that is later revealed to be a reel video. that also means the big dude loves to watch pig videos or was actually re-watching the same video non-stop.

Welp, now I have to watch the rest of this guys animations. That was absolutely gripping in a bizarrely surreal way but I enjoyed every second of it. Phenomenal storytelling to those involved! 💛
2 details that i've noticed after re-watching the film.
1- he does some weird pauses during his speech, i guess he is expecting to edit the footage later.
2- you can hear a pig before the big dude talks to the protagonist, that is later revealed to be a reel video. that also means the big dude loves to watch pig videos or was actually re-watching the same video non-stop.
