Bernie Sanders has been saying for years that we need to get lobbyists out of politics, which is why he is so unpopular in Washington.

    • @markherring3513
      @markherring3513 ปีที่แล้ว

No..he is unpopular because he's a rich guy with multiple houses that complains that rich people are the problem. THATS why hes unpopular. Plus he wants us to be a 3rd world country and wants to punish people for being successful. His how line of bull$hit is :"How DARE you be successful! That's not fair to someone that doesn't work. You need to give up 50% of your worth...its only fair."

The politicians/lawmakers, would find a way around it. In democracy or autocracy there will be corruption. The more power is centralized, the more corruption. Sanders is an "Independent", until he wants to run for president. He becomes a "Democrat" when he sees that is where electoral votes are, but goes back to being independent when the election is over.

If Trump supporters genuinely cared about accountability, they would not vote for this fraudster who has never been held to account. The “base” is both not sophisticated enough in their ability to judge character, nor do they have a nominal ethical standard to uphold. Knowingly being conned is fine with this gullible cult as long as he continues insulting leaders and upsetting norms. Rick Perry said it best in 2015: “Donald Trump is a cancer on the Republican Party”…and now we have to deal with the mortal threat of rampant metastases.

When he or anyone else on national television tells everyone about the 14-minute 1942 USDA film *Hemp for Victory* and how it is the key to stopping climate change, then that person can be said to care about everything that matters, because everything that we are as a country is because of Cannabis Sativa which the film explains. We would have lost World War II without legal Cannabis, and the US government buried the film under decades of drug war lies to create this polluted nightmare that we are experiencing today. All of our plastic and paper and fuel and electricity can be derived from industrial hemp. This is the real reason why "Marijuana" was outlawed. It is not a dangerous drug. Cannabis Sativa, called "Marihuana" on the Special Tax Stamp that is shown 3 minutes into *Hemp for Victory,* built this country and virtually all human civilization across planet Earth. It made the ropes and sails on every ship that travelled to North America. It made the ropes on the ships and the boot laces and parachutes for US soldiers on D-Day.
But because none of this was taught to any of us in school or even in college, we're still funding the US government's war against Americans to keep "Marihuana" illegal.
There is an official .gov link to the video from the US National Archives. It became public in 1990. It is also on several TH-cam channels. But unless anyone in national or social media will tell their millions of viewers and subscribers about it, generation after generation of Americans will continue to not know about any of this.

The problem is the individual people don't matter anymore. There's a whole system in place that corrupts even the most well-intentioned people. It actively selects for those who are corruptible, or are naive enough that they can be overridden.
The issue is that we cannot vote our way to fixing these problems. We have to do things like ignore the laws which have been purchased for the last 50 years by wealthy corporations and billionaires which hurt regular Americans but save the wealthy money. We have to strike. We have to grind the wheels of capital to a halt or we will be ignored. Look at what's going on in France right now. Over just a 2-year increase in their retirement age, government buildings are being burned down. Imagine getting enough Americans that angry and are corrupt government.

Incorrect. The people as a whole don't care. Managed to subdivide every interest group possible along every line possible so no one can ever get a collective action i.e. will of the people moving because the will of the people are in constant struggle with eachother. Democrat, Republican whoever and they know if they can put out enough little squabbles like the idiots human beings are we'll find one to build our little hills to die on. Individuals can be intelligent, but get enough people into a crowd and they become dumb panicky animals terrified of being ostracised by whatever little cloister they've decided to group themselves with or whatever exclusive cause who will never have the popular support to actually pressure any of the government systems. It doesn't help that most people you run into can't even tell you what the actual policy processes are for the people they are voting for.
Vote for congressman/woman x or y. What is there actual stance and policy for what they are saying? Don't know but it sounds like something people agree with so vote for them. No research. No studies into actual policy think groups and research.
Vote to save the environment? Don't look into the fact that the solar panel manufacturer is dumping millions of gallons of toxic chemicals into the water in their countries of manufacture that are absolutely god awful.
Vote on gun regulation? Completely ignore that different places have different requirements. Hey you live in the sticks where your nearest neighbor might be 45 minutes away and same for the nearest law enforcement. Might want a gun if something goes bad. Or hey someone living in a more remote area where wildlife might actually be a concern? I'd probably want a gun handy just in case as I don't fancy my chances with something like a curious grizzly living in the area. vs Hey living in a city of 5-6 million people where the probability of some idiot whose had too much to drink or has a temperament problem will start shooting? Might want some heavier regulations. Or hey even a lot of folks in the NRA (National Rifle Association) believe that maybe people not deemed mentally culpable probably shouldn't have access to guns. So maybe everyone can agree if you can't be trusted to not live alone and pass a basic psyche eval that everyone can agree to and start with getting that passed into law. But nope just because everyones so obsessed with not giving ground to the other party/organization can't even agree to that.
Basically I don't really blame the politicians and interest groups for grabbing everything they think they can get away with. This is supposed to be a government of the people, by the people and for the people. But the people don't care and are content to scream at eachother despite there being 300 million+ people vs how many corporate interest groups and politicians?

Corruption in government happens because American voters allow it to happen, you cannot achieve accountability when there are too many bad faith voters that elect corrupt leaders. Donald Trump is the most obvious con man in politics; he has been working in his own self-interest for his entire life and he admires foreign dictators. And yet millions of Americans still voted for Donald Trump despite the obvious fact that Trump only cares about making himself more rich and powerful. Marjorie Taylor Green is also another obvious liar and yet she was elected in congress by American voters Many Trump Supporters even admit that they would vote for Donald Trump no matter what he does or no matter what crime he commits; even Trump himself acknowledged that he could shoot someone in the middle of 5th Avenue and he would still not lose any votes. American government is corrupt not because of bad faith politicians, but because of the bad faith voters who elected them. Trump Supporters worship Trump as if he is some kind of honest messiah ordained by God, which is obviously the result of their severe cognitive dissonance as bad faith voters. If Americans actually wanted to fix the system and remove the power of lobbyists, then they would have elected Bernie Sanders as President, but they didn't.

That has been a consistent quality and ramification of Jon's way of dealing with things over the years. He has a knack for making you apply integrity and diligence. More than all of that he has a habit of pointing out the unpopular fact, too many people in this country today and in the past, fail to properly execute an important process or even to understand the basic concept of ACCOUNTABILITY. Jon has a history of making people be accountable in all these things. It is a sign of a man with ethos, virtue and integrity we are all lucky to have such amazing co-creators who keep us applying critical thought, It is fitting Jon thought so much of George Carlin. They both spoke of accountability and truth and used their sense of humor to express that.

The notion that America, as a society would even question whether someone should be held accountable, is astounding to me. Where I come from, if people are under investigations, we don't ask whether or not they should be indicted if found guilty. We don't put qualifiers on how people should be treated before the law. That's a recipe for a system no one would trust.

America wants people from the other political party held accountable, not people from their party held accountable. All you have to do, to get them upset or okay, with any political corruption, is to change the names of the people accused of it.

He also cares about animals and our environment. Fun fact- He owns a farm animal sanctuary and is vegan. So is Greta Thunberg. What do they have in common with these other intelligent, widely admired people? They all chose to not eat animals- Pythagoras, Socrates, Leonardo da Vinci, Voltaire, Newton, Benjamin Franklin, Nikolai Tesla, Albert Einstein, Gandhi, Albert Schweitzer, George Bernard Shaw, Tolstoy, Thoreau, Saint Francis of Asisi, and many more. Some on this list switched late in life, but stayed on it to the end. Ben Franklin switched at age 16.
"Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet." -Einstein (Of course today, he would be vegan. So would the others on this list.)
The famous Professor of Physics Brian Greene is vegan. You may have seen him on PBS hosting science shows for the layman. Jane Goodall recently went from a long time vegetarian to vegan. Wikipedia has a more complete list.
