Got one of those bastards in my pants about a year ago. I was riding a bike when I had to pee. I jumped in to a bush, did my deed and hopped back on the bike and started riding again. After few minutes I got a bite. Felt like a bee sting, sharp stabbing pain in my groin area. I thought maybe I have some sort of plant spike stuck there. Second time it bit me and never stopped biting. I immediatelly stopped. Started taking my pants and shaking my knickers. A bug fell off and it was nymp assasin bug, I had blood coming out of my groin area. Jesus christ. Still not as worse as noticing a farmer few dozen meters from my strip performance, milking a cow in a field and eyeing me suspiciously.
honestly I used to love the assassin bug...but now, listening to this guy "it has the unique ability to literally liquify it's prey" all I can say is "oh yeah totally unique not like every spider in the world does that"
I think he was implying it happens very quickly which is the unique trait whereas spiders have to build a web and ensnare prey, inject it with enzymes and digestive compounds, then wait. It sounds like the assassin bug does this in a relatively short period of time and is a lot more proactive.
Bad mistake on the script writers and entomologists that were involved in this. The insect that was attacked wasn't a beetle, but a true bug just like the assassin bug.
One of those "freaks" bit me once when I a kid and I still remember how painful it was, even though it went away pretty quickly. Still! - they've been freaking me ever since.
1:20 "Once he finds a soft spot... he stabs his blade-like proboscis into..." "Phew, looks like it's over, he already---" OH OH HELL NO *shoves the blade-like proboscis back in the body HARD* *crunch splat sound effect*
What I find cool about this is some guy had to take the time and follow a bug around, take notes, and draw conclusions. The end result was a cool video and an understanding of nature, to darnation with your social mores hobbies are cool.
Ah but your comment about not commenting on the sound effects is a comment on the sound effects and not commenting at all would have had a more sound effect.
I saw one of those eat a bee last summer. Later, on my way to work, one stood right in the middle of the walkway and watched me. I was late for work that day. Also, I have misophonia and I had to mute the video. The sound effects are not appreciated.
Another case of awful writing, narration, and sound effects. It feels like you are trying to reach a larger market and have forgotten your core viewers. We don't want sound effects. We don't want poor writing, hire an actual writer not someone from marketing. We don't want you to try to tie disgust into animals. At the moment you have a group of videos which you're probably internally referring to as freaks. It's ineffective as a marketing gimmick. Either write for children in a more explicit way, write for adults interested in science, in any case improve your writing.
As much as i like this channel due to the content they have, i'll have to agree there. Although the "documentary" itself was interesting, the narration, sound effects and writing was just not my cup of tea.. Didn't expect a video ridden with "scary"/annoying sound effects, casting them as "monstrous monstrosities". I like this channel when it comes to history related stuff. I'd definitely recommend you to take a look at the youtube channel called "Deep Look" though. That is, if you're fascinated by similar short documentaries from time to time - Love the way they present insects / animals in their short documentary clips (2-3mins long)!
Left an empty pint glass out on the deck a free weeks ago and there were clusters of these tiny bright red six legged ant like almost spidery insects on the glass, got alot of good pics. Then yesterday I see one bit much larger same red with some other colors coming in. These things are cool.
"It can target large prey, twice it's own size." (Assassin looks at camera)
SonicX147 which allows it to target prey. 200times its own size
SonicX147 LOL!
It was scripted, the bug is paid actor

LMAO, the way he looks at the camera is hilarious. "your next"
Those things can and will bite larger animals, including humans! If I were behind that camera I'd need to wear my brown pants!
It's not afraid!
jack more like "you want to go?"
"Tonight... YOU!"

"The ball soup"
What kind of cow?
Do you have super powers now?
Like in assassin bug man?
The sound effects are excessive.
excellent profile pic mate
I have a lot of respect for nature shows that just let the footage and narration speak for itself.
It’s what good pussy sounds like
Tom White , can't be talking about your mom
Then don't watch, KAREN. JC
the sound effects are terrible.
Turun Ambartanen horrible lol that sound is cringe worthy
it's not disgusting or anything, but i think it's unfitting
I literally cringed with the sounds... i think theyre effective sounds.
Turun Ambartanen true!

"This freak..." whoa there, announcer guy. Why you want to hurt his feelings?
Imperfect cell.
I drink people.
You stole my comment.
Wanna see me drink this guy??
Nah man the giant water bug looks alot more like imperfect cell than this thing does, probably just as scary too.
@@Dan-rw2dq I think the reference to Imperfect Cell is because the assassin bug drinks other bugs.
lmao those sound effects !!!
"Which allows for it to target large prey twice it's size."
*Proceeds to turn to the camera man*
honestly I used to love the assassin bug...but now, listening to this guy "it has the unique ability to literally liquify it's prey" all I can say is "oh yeah totally unique not like every spider in the world does that"
It only kills 10,000 people per year... 😉 😜 😘
Well can a spider have a cool name
@@yspear_ yes
@@yspear_ Ogre-Faced Spider, Black-Widow, Brown Recluse, Mirror Spider, Goliath Birdeater, etc. There's some pretty cool spiders.

Love how the bug looks at the camera near the end, it's like he's saying "Who's next?"
It's funny, my boss has done the same thing to each of us at the office. I really do feel like just a shell too, weird.
IMAGINE your boss reading it 👀😉😂
I read your username as "David's _Fortnite_ videos" and was ready to have an epileptic seizure
Your boss may be a vampire.
"Once he finds a soft spot, he stabs his blade-like proboscis into his victim."
I'm pretty sure that you can charge him for assault. But this is 2 years ago so you might be dead.

at the end there. in tfs cells voice: Hello. Friend.
@@Shearper2 "Wanna see me drink this bug?"
Dang another.
kinda looks like the insect version of deadpool
Yeah, without the jokes. This bug is no laughing matter
True
Bad mistake on the script writers and entomologists that were involved in this. The insect that was attacked wasn't a beetle, but a true bug just like the assassin bug.
Sword of Tauberg NERD.
To be fair, I know that too, so I'm also a nerd.
You can't even identify the species of insect it ate.
Looks like a Stinkbug
Malicious Data it’s a stink bug dude. They have that shield shaped shell and those markings on their back. Just google stink bug.
Asssasin bug family Reduviidae
Stink bug family Pentatomidae

What kind of fool would marry such a hideous creature?
Alex S 😂

A lot of people hate the sound effects but i personally love it, it just makes tiny animals seem like lions or elephants or even a monster.
Me too
I like how the bug turned towards the camera and was like....
"Oh would you like want to be my next victim ,mr cameraman?"
Camera man: heh I got raid
Hey everybody I'm krombopolous Michael

Goddamn, the end of the feeding there, he just discarded the other bug like a partially empty fountain drink cup

Akira Toriyama TOTALLY took inspiration from the assassin bug’s feeding methods for Imperfect Cell’s absorption of non-Android prey in Dragon Ball Z.
I was going to come and comment on the sound effects but clearly there is no need.
Madd Dr. Ew well comment anyway
Ah but your comment about not commenting on the sound effects is a comment on the sound effects and not commenting at all would have had a more sound effect.
1:18 those slurping noises tho
2:17 kicking away the other bug like it's nothing

1:42 i dont feel so good mr.stark
Narrator sounds a lot like the pokemon narrator.
Anyone else picked that up?
all I can think is when he looks at me is "hey kids, wanna see a dead body?!"
I saw one of those eat a bee last summer. Later, on my way to work, one stood right in the middle of the walkway and watched me. I was late for work that day.
Also, I have misophonia and I had to mute the video. The sound effects are not appreciated.
If insects were the size of dogs we would never go outside. Humans would be living underground in bunkers
The only assassin bug I accept is Krombopulous Michael
I think it looks super cute with those big googly black eyes! 🥰
Wow when I saw that it could fly I realized how overpowered it is.
Tosses empty husk, looks intimidating into the camera. Happy music plays, "Smithsonian channel: it's brighter here".

Hey now, I'm a marketer and I agree with you. Not all marketing is directed towards a broad target segment
Go be condescending somewhere else. You are a huge fuckboy trying to sound smart, you'll never amount to a fraction of what the Smithsonian is.
I do want sound effects... so for that I'm giving you a thumbs down.
YurMuthur you'd be surprised. You never know who's online. :)
They have helped rid my yard of stink bugs... They really took care of them on the tomato plants!! Assassin bugs are badass!!
Is that really true🤔
awesome video, but the sound effects make it disgusting
YupYup Yup did you really expect a video about insects to not be disgusting?
Whoever did the sound FX is a genius! 2:17
Why would having only one tube give it the ability to prey on things twice it's own size?
Venom,very potent venom.
David & Goliath bro. Think abt it

He's a proud little bugger too.
Why are people complaining about the sound effects? I'm pretty sure they know it's obvious and i'm sure it's supposed to be slightly comical.
I like all things red and that noise was such a turn on lol
I feel like drinking a soft drink
That slurping straw sound is crazy 😂
Geez, just imagine being that bug and getting killed by toxins due to the assassin bug.
10,000 people per year DO DIE from their succulent bites. 😉
the sound effects...
still better than monster bug wars
Lol i must say he has style. The way he threw the insect after eating it
no one:
lactose intolerant people when they eat ice cream: 1:35
Love the way it drops the hollow carapace like an empty 40.
The sound effects made this hilarious.
Shoutout to the guy who made the microphone that can pick up a bug slurping
Mr Stark, I don’t feel so good
Wait, he'll eat stink bugs? This has just become my favorite insect EVER.
Yep it's also a benefit it kills worms
He turns his prey into slurpees then drinks them. YOLO!
Damn he just thanos snapped those cells out of existence
when the bug fell away after the assassin was done with it, it sounded like someone just stepped off a horse.
THE DROPPING NOISE AT 2:16 HAHAHHA

I'm glad I live where I live. We don't have scorpions, tarantulas, or anything creepier than ticks and spiders. This bug is disgusting!
I just found one of these in my garden. Excited to watch it feed.
