I only had a thin set of medical gloves on. I learned the hard way more then a few times during that voyage.
Oh my goodness. Can I ask what your thought process was in picking it up? The bristles and aposematic colouration normally would be a dead ringer to not touch it. It’s almost like you defied your primitive instincts to touch cool thing 😂
@rogueisded it is a little understandable to have misinterpreted the warning signs. The ocean has lots of brightly colored wildlife with a bristly appearance, that aren't toxic or harmful at all.
Fun fact: How To Train Your Dragon has a dragon called the Fireworm which are tiny little creatures the size of skinks who naturally have hot temperatures. They even glow in the dark and mothers are one of the best dragon parents ever.
Guys, please stay off the sea oats. Those give the shoreline what little resilience they have. Florida has been trying to get those to grow back for decades. That's why they're protected.
These fireworms really did look terrifying, even in the video. I couldn't get over how much they can flare up all their spikes in an instant. The way it got you really did say a lot. I noticed that it was a very small touch on your arm and it still got you. I could easily see those little spikes in your skin. After seeing the aftermath, I could really see the amount of damage it did.
Can you imagine the pain from slurping down one of those things like a spaghetti noodle? I would think you'd be BEGGING for the sweat release of death at that point haha.
That's what they should have said, it was very irresponsible for them not mentioning that you have to get to the hospital after this. When I was 10, I toutch a Fireworm and held it to my hands for some time, after I couldn't stop crying, my parents rushed me to the hospital, the ointments that they put on my hands made the aftermath end the next day. Very irresponsible for that chanel not mentioning that option, they brag about giving helpful advises but they don't.
It’s harsh to say it’s inappropriate that the channel didn’t mention that if anything happens to go to the hospital. It’s not their responsibility to make sure people get help. Their main responsibility is when they say do not preform this at the beginning of the video. People can do their own research about what to do if they do come across the fireworms. I know that sounds rude and I promise that’s not my intention. I know they pride off of being helpful but that’s not the reason for the channel. Yes it’s not smart they act as if they pride on that and that can mislead people but there are other resources to see how to protect yourself in these situations
This is crazy. It's gotta be very painful cause Mark's taken some pretty gnarly stings and bites but I've never seen him react this way. His pain was a idling funny car and the moment that second fireworm touched his arm, the light went green and VROOM...0 to 280mph instantly 🔥🔥🔥
After watching so many bites and stings on this channel and others, I've come to one ultimate conclusion. The pain level can never be compared from animal to animal. The experience is dose-specific, so one day, the fireworm might rate at a 5/10 on the BSI, But on a different day, it can rate a 9.5/10.
Honestly, I kinda want a fireworm as a water tank pet, that name is just too cool, the color and spines on it are gnarly. Honestly would be cool to have an aquarium of exotic critters like the Fireworm :D
