    Clint HI, FYI, state of California court has declared bees to be fish. It's so the bees can fit into the law and be covered for protections since they are endangered. It is not bio-logical, but it is logical. And that assassine bug is really scary. Thanks. HUGS

    • @chitlitlah
      @chitlitlah 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      It's not something the judge decided arbitrarily; the law has a definition for fish that includes all invertebrates. Sometimes laws provide definitions for clarity or to alter the definition a bit from common language to make the law more sensible, such as excluding motorized wheelchairs from the definition of motor vehicles so you don't have to get them registered, insured, and operate them on the road instead of the sidewalk. I'm not sure if the legislators intended to lump bees in as fish, but it sounds like the outcome was alright.

    I had a true bug bite when a giant water bug bit me on the arm, I’ve had many insect bites, but true bugs, generally are the most painful, even more so than spiders generally.

    I believe you have achieved a personal best for concentration of adjectives in one vlog. I need to listen again and use hash marks to make sure. Should I also include adverbs? Gerundives? The expansive and descriptive vocabulary is just ....well, "there ya go".

    Clint, I've been watching you for a minute and I love the channel. Following this video and your strong recommendation I was like, hell with it, and ordered a colony of 8 of these guys...! I admit I'm a bit nervous but I'm going to try to give them the best life I can. Wish me luck!

    We have a colony of them Stinkin rad bugs! 😀 I use plastic bottlecaps as waterbowls and I often see them drink from it even after a juicy meal 😀

    As someone whose kept and bred these I would recommend for humidity and temperature at least to keep them between 74-85 and try not to have any huge temp swings and I would keep them on something that doesnt get to dusty if it dries. Mist heavy once a week and second lighter mist when it dried after a few days. This is what worked for me but they are very very tolerant to being completely dry for decent amounts of time.

    Is this a family group? Aw that's sweet, they all look really happy together, it's not like they're running to the furthest point on the log to get away from the big ones! Thank you for specifying a milk cap for a water bowl as what appears shallow to us could look like a lake to insects and small reptiles.

    The water strider comment got me. I was the type of kid who would collect almost any type of insect (or small animal really) and try to keep it as a pet. However, I was trying to figure out if this grocery store had a pond in the parking lot, if you kept in in an aquarium and brought the aquarium in the car with you, or what.

    Hey Clint, like your Dinosaur December series, you should dedicate a month to all the "stinkin rad" insects of the insect world. I imagine many of your followers would enjoy it.
    MORBIDLY ADORABLE...

    All Canadian Reptile Girl really did a fantastic job. She is a very talented creator.
    As for the expense of Western African Horrid King Assasin bugs, they are not that expensive. I've gotten so deep into Isopods, I have a colony of Rubber Duckies and they did not come cheap;
    High-end Isopods are a terrible addiction.
