Composed by Michael Mosoeu Moerane (1904-1980). Moerane was one of the most important composers in southern Africa writing in tonic solfa and staff notation and using predominantly African language texts. Moerane was born on 20 September 1904 in Mangoloaneng in the eastern Cape, close to the Lesotho border, into a distinguished family of healers, farmers, teachers, and lawyers.
