"Sweet rice" over here in sweden, a staple for a long time around christmas and the colder months of the year we do "rice porridge", which is often served sweet- either topped with cinnamon and sugar, or with a berry-syrup-sauce. we do call it rice-grain porridge, or also "tomegröt", or santa porridge, in old tradition, the small gnomes (or tomtar) were given a bowl of hot porridge with melted butter on top of it as a reward during wintertime, for their good work done around the farms :> (we do not usually do the butter-thing on the porridge anymore) we also have "risifrutti", which is a rice pudding with sweet jam on the side, bought in small containers at the store and usually used as a snack or cold meal for kids.
Interesting, here in Brazil, at least in the very south where I live, we eat sweet rice almost exactly the same as you. We usually cook it with milk and sugar, and then is served with cinnamon, sometimes we put condensed milk too.
In Germany we eat Milchreis (literally translates to Milk Rice) which is just some sticky rice boiled in milk with cinnamon and sugar, apparently a lot of cultures have sweet rice dishes with some sort of fat/dairy basis

When making fried rice, don't salt the vegetables during the cooking. Don't know if you did or didn't, just giving a tip for the others. If you salt too early, the veggies get mushy. If you want a little snap to them, high heat and no salt. Salt at the end after adding the soy sauce. Also, cornstarch or potato starch before refrigerating over night rice will prevent clumping and create extra crispy bits on the rice. If you use cornstarch, undercook the rice a tiny bit and let it rehydrate with the cooking.
@@emis7747 Hope you find it useful. The cornstarch one changed my life a bit. Saved a lot of frustrations with mushy rice, especially if using non-stick pans.
The rice cooker rice reminds me of the Shanghai vegetable rice (cai fan) we make. You use a leafy veg that can standup to blanching or boiling like bok Choy. We use Shanghai bok Choy. Plus a salted pork for protein. No egg though. Whether to partially cook the rice beforehand may be controversial at our house. The trick is you want to cook the vegetable with the rice a little so the vegetable broth gets absorbed by the rice as it cooks. Some people parboil the rice beforehand but I remember my grandma on my mom's side stir frying the soaked raw rice grains with the veg stem part, other ingredients that will take longer to cook, and cut up salted meats then adding water and any other leaves or soft ingredients to cook all on one pan. We have been adding diced carrots lately for colour but I have seen other places add mushroom or bamboo shoots.
Rice pudding is very popular in central Europe. Like VERY popular. Working class pudding basically. It's even sold pre-packaged in supermarkets everywhere, just like regular pudding.
The rice pudding at the end is really creative. For sweet, i recommend thai sweet sticky rice (adapted version). Just stirring coconut milk with sugar (you can add vanilla or pandan scent if you want), then mix it with rice. You eat it with any fruit that you want.

Regarding the rice pudding at the end, there's a very traditional dessert in Portugal called arroz-doce (translated just means sweet rice) which is quite similar to that pudding
I think rice pudding is a thing pretty much everywhere that rice is available. I live in the UK and my nan would make it with nutmeg and cinnamon and bake it in the oven with sugar sprinkled on top which makes a caramelised crust, it's like a rice crème brûleé
10:30 there is actually a turkish dessert called "sütlaç" it is made with cow milk and rice and sugar, and top it off with some powder cinnamon. You should try that

For sweet leftover rice, you can make a chocolate porridge (Champorado) by using cacao tablets (if available) or chocolate powder/baker's choco, sweeten to desired taste using sugar and top it off with a splash of evaporated milk. It's such a cozy, typically cool weather snack in my country (Philippines)
One really simple, leftover rice hack that my mom used to do all the time called dessert rice was one of my favorites. It's basically you take the leftover plain white rice or plain sticky rice, and you put it in a bowl with some water. Then you pop that into the microwave and heat it up. After you're done, heating it up, you stir it, and this reconcentrates it and makes it kind of steamed again then you add butter on top of the rice and stir it in. If the butter isn't melting, you can pop it back in the microwave for a couple more seconds. After that, you grab cinnamon sugar and you sprinkle that all over the rice. ( As much or as little as you want) i always put a lot. And if you don't own cinnamon sugar, you can make it. And if you don't know how to make it, it is basicly take one cup sugar and 1 tbsp cinnamon and mix it together.( we always put it in a container with a lid and just shook it) if you want more cinnamon you can always add more, but a little goes a long way. You can then also save it and reuse it for if you have rice pudding or if you are making toast. 😁 and to kind of describe the flavor of the dessert rice, it's kind of like, rice pudding, but not as creamy. But still very, very tasty.😋
Bruh, that rice pudding at the end HAD to be one of the best looking deserts I've ever seen and you gave it six point five out of teen!? If you don't like it, send it my way! I love rice pudding and there's no way in hell that butter DIDN'T take it to at least a twenty out of teen!
it is extremely good with Apple sauce, trust. Just boil rice in milk, serve on a plate, cover with cinnamon+sugar mix and add applesauce. Dont overeat tho or itll get boring quick.
As a Mexican I must say, sweet rice isn't as weird as people think, here we have 2 main recipes of sweet rice: Arroz con leche (litteraly Rice with milk) -4½ Cups of water -1 cinnamon stick -1 cup of rice previously simmered in hot water for 20 min and drained -1 can of sweet and condensed milk -1 can of condensed milk - Ground Cinnamon - Raisins (optional) Boil the water with the cinnamon, and when it starts to boiling put the rice and cock it for 15 minutes or until rhe rice is soft but not mushi Low the heat, and pour thecondensed and the sweet and condensed milk (and the raisins of you like) and continue cocking for 20 minutes or until thickens You can serve it warm or cold, sprinkling with grounded cinnamon. The next one is Horchata -1 cup of rice -2 cups of milk -2 cups of water -1 cinnamon stick -sugar -ice -grounded cinamon Simmer the rice in hot water with the cinnamon stick overnight The next day, drain the water in which the rice stayed for the night, and if you like, you can take the cinnamon stick too. Put the rice in the blender and the water and blend in high. After is fully blended, pass the water trough a cheese cloth to remove al the solids, serve with ice and grounded cinnamon.
You should definitely test youtuber cookbook recipes. A similar style of comparison video would be dope. I.e. fried chicken from multiple creators ranked against each-other, etc. With your style of video I feel like it would be really fun to watch :)
I think the coconut milk rice pudding is a South Indian dish so I wanted to suggest the North Indian version of it which is easier (and in my opinion tastier). It’s called ‘Kheer’, and all you need to do is take semi cooked rice, although a day old rice will also work. Simply take a good amount of milk, add a couple of green cardamom pieces and a stick of cinnamon (using whole spice instead of powder will allow the dish to have a clean white color) and boil it till it thickens a bit, then add the rice and sugar as per preference. Simmer for a few more minutes till rice is soft but not completely mush and it’s ready. It’s great hot but even better refrigerated and cold. Although it’s not considered a ‘meal’, instead it’s eaten as a dessert but you could fill up with a bowl of ‘Kheer’ as well.
In india we also have a sweet rice dish called kheer simillar to rice pudding which uses cooked rice, milk , sugar and some dry fruits ..hope u can try it some day 😊😊
You can try Spanish classic dessert “Arroz con Leche”. It’s kinda similar to the Indian dish but with regular milk and some lemon peel to infuse flavor
9:48 We have another variation of it. We in South India call it "Sweet Pongal". You can just look it up on TH-cam. It is a nice sweet dish, and we usually have it first before our main.
As an Indian, I have never had this monstrosity before. What could be technically similar is kheer which is made from (rice, milk, sugar, elachi, dry fruits, foxnut)
My technique for a clump free rice: this can only be done overnight. Separate the grains before storing it in the fridge, a few big clumps is fine and put in the fridge without cover, so it dries faster. We can rehydrate the grains while cooking it. On the next day proceed with how fried rice is done and splashing a bit of fish sauce or soy sauce will rehydrate the rice up.
I always set a little rice aside fresh out of the cooker for sweet rice if I am craving a quick snack. Just had butter and honey stir and put in fridge for later or eat it fresh (some times add cinminomen).
8:43 if i do this, i think it would make more sense to whisk the eggs first...? as long as it doesn't get touched then it wouldn't seep into the bottom and it's pretty hard to fuck up scrambled eggs in fried rice... the whole overcooked unsalted egg yolks in this makes me feel naseous just thinking about it lool
Testing TH-camr recipe books would be extremely on brand for this channel, honestly a no-brainer.

The sweet rice thing you made, in germany we call it "Milchreis" so basically milk rice. (we are so creative)
One of the my favourite kinds of Milchreis is with hot cherrys.
We also have something similar in Russia :)
It's called "рисовая каша" (risovaya kasha - rice porridge)
It's a nostalgic dish, cause it's usually eaten in kindergarten and when your still a child a lot. But it's also nice for breakfast
@@4kach24 that is so interesting, we also have it mostly as kids, but since im a sweet tooth i eat it regularly in my late 30´s 😂
@@Justsomebiggerman2 Oh, that's wholesome! I'm 20 and wouldn't mind eating sweet rice too🤝
Do you by chance have a somewhat weird dish like milky soup(?) in Germany too?
It's basically vermicelli cooked in milk, also sweet and for the kids
It was one of my favourites back in the day
@@4kach24 we have something called Milchnudeln, milk pasta xD its also sweet and a somewhat low income bracket dish, my mother had lots of as a kid, she made it for herself often but i never liked it.
It's so nice to realise that people from different places in the world have similar experiences with food and have similar dishes
Idk, it's logical, but it still makes me amazed! 👉👈💖
I think they should gift you their books cuz your awesome and its free advertising for them as well as content for you... Love you Canoe please keep bringing us the awesome content...
2:09 dude youre adorable.
4:46 that mushroom fried rice/macaroni cheese creation sounds amazing and I will be trying it. Thank you for winging it.
If you do it you should keep the mushroom juices in the pan for more flavor
why is he making normal food now😭😭😭😭😭
He’s evolving!
Because he is using leftovers now
i hate it i’m here for failure and confusion
he seems so happy now i don’t mind
He leveled up
Regarding the rice pudding at the end, there's a very traditional dessert in Portugal called arroz-doce (translated just means sweet rice) which is quite similar to that pudding
It is very similar to the spanish recipe "Arroz con leche" (Rice with milk) as well
I think rice pudding is a thing pretty much everywhere that rice is available. I live in the UK and my nan would make it with nutmeg and cinnamon and bake it in the oven with sugar sprinkled on top which makes a caramelised crust, it's like a rice crème brûleé
Spanish arroz con leche is the goat
@@arnoldmmbb Meh, I personally don't enjoy it much. But I'm the odd one here, because my entire family love arroz con leche
Bro keeps getting better
He’s on a anime arc
I like the way you just stuff in your fridge that needs to be used up including left overs. This is how home cooking works. You cook what you have!
5:57 you can also put it in the airfryer. Works pretty well.
futurecanoe never fails to fill me with creampies of content 😊

10:30 there is actually a turkish dessert called "sütlaç" it is made with cow milk and rice and sugar, and top it off with some powder cinnamon. You should try that
i love his vpice it makes me feel less depressed
It's somewhat calming 🤝
I see you FutureCanoe - using that love to measure. You have evolved and learned - and you know to add until its right, and thats awesome! I have been following you for a long time and just noticed this :)
You should test other TH-camrs recipes, but only allow yourself to read it once. So that your “make stuff up as I go” motif can continue depending on how well your brain works that day 😁
He doesn't have all the ingredients most of the time, so reading and making will still have the "make shit up as you go" vibe will still be there.
9:30 Bro just made Radioactive Biryani
If you're doing the tubers cookbooks thing, be sure to get Baking Yesterday by Dylan Hollis and Tasting History by Max Miller.
Some really cool recipes in both those books.
i would love to see future canoe cook something from Tasting History
He's cooking normal food, he's sounds happy now, the emotions are unusual but I like it.
And yes please buy them and have a video of them
7:21 "the first step is to soak our water in rice"
For sweet leftover rice, you can make a chocolate porridge (Champorado) by using cacao tablets (if available) or chocolate powder/baker's choco, sweeten to desired taste using sugar and top it off with a splash of evaporated milk. It's such a cozy, typically cool weather snack in my country (Philippines)
another banger thank you futurecanoe
Yes I would like to see a vid with you trying cookbooks
Completely on board with testing youtuber cookbooks, will be very interesting👍
3:50 the way you delivered this line sounded very sincere
My first time watching the channel. Thanks algorithm! I love your deadpan jokes and you're doing interesting stuff. Subbed for sure!
10:44 “eating in reverse” 😭
Is the tryna say throw up? 😂
5:46 special crunchy addition to that rice ball
5:32. bro is actually impressed 😂😭
0:32 i heard that
I to rewind it a few times to make sure I wasn't just hearing things too😂
What??

I like that there's a potato laying around for no fucking reason
This is the best cooking channel on TH-cam, God 😂😂😂
That last giggle was the most emotion he showed in this video 😂
would love to see youtuber cookbook recipes go head to head with your classic recipie tweaks lol. It could make for a great series
Testing cookbooks as a recipe and book review would actually be pretty cool!
Bruh, that rice pudding at the end HAD to be one of the best looking deserts I've ever seen and you gave it six point five out of teen!? If you don't like it, send it my way! I love rice pudding and there's no way in hell that butter DIDN'T take it to at least a twenty out of teen!
I guess his taste-buds are dead by eating all the nasty stuff. Rice pudding (Rice kheer ) seriously tastes awesome.
it is extremely good with Apple sauce, trust. Just boil rice in milk, serve on a plate, cover with cinnamon+sugar mix and add applesauce.
Dont overeat tho or itll get boring quick.
great video bro i enjoyed it while eating
As a Mexican I must say, sweet rice isn't as weird as people think, here we have 2 main recipes of sweet rice:
Arroz con leche (litteraly Rice with milk)
-4½ Cups of water
-1 cinnamon stick
-1 cup of rice previously simmered in hot water for 20 min and drained
-1 can of sweet and condensed milk
-1 can of condensed milk
- Ground Cinnamon
- Raisins (optional)
Boil the water with the cinnamon, and when it starts to boiling put the rice and cock it for 15 minutes or until rhe rice is soft but not mushi
Low the heat, and pour thecondensed and the sweet and condensed milk (and the raisins of you like) and continue cocking for 20 minutes or until thickens
You can serve it warm or cold, sprinkling with grounded cinnamon.
The next one is Horchata
-1 cup of rice
-2 cups of milk
-2 cups of water
-1 cinnamon stick
-sugar
-ice
-grounded cinamon
Simmer the rice in hot water with the cinnamon stick overnight
The next day, drain the water in which the rice stayed for the night, and if you like, you can take the cinnamon stick too.
Put the rice in the blender and the water and blend in high.
After is fully blended, pass the water trough a cheese cloth to remove al the solids, serve with ice and grounded cinnamon.
rice pudding, or milk rice sometimes called is very common throughout europe! I make a chocolate coconut variant which is great
the little giggle at 2:09 is so cute pls... i love when u do that and then show us something inedible later in ur vids

You should definitely test youtuber cookbook recipes. A similar style of comparison video would be dope. I.e. fried chicken from multiple creators ranked against each-other, etc. With your style of video I feel like it would be really fun to watch :)
absolutely please do the cook book idea
10:45 what u were trying to make is called "Kheer" and it's usually much more milky like more amount of milk it's a little more liquidy
Awesome 😂, you are natural, cool and a beautiful human. Thank you for keeping it simple and honest. You are a star 🤩. Keep sharing the love 🎉
ily gang never stop posting🙏
Your dry humor is awesome dude 👌😆. Especially that comment about your sister ! 😂😂😂
congrats on 2M omg
Testing cookbook recipes would make for good futurecanoe videos series 😊😊

In india we also have a sweet rice dish called kheer simillar to rice pudding which uses cooked rice, milk , sugar and some dry fruits ..hope u can try it some day 😊😊
Thank-you for letting me listen to the food at 3:52 !
You can try Spanish classic dessert “Arroz con Leche”. It’s kinda similar to the Indian dish but with regular milk and some lemon peel to infuse flavor
3:52 yes, the sound did make me feel warmer. But I’m in a heat wave and the AC is busted so it’s actually not a good thing
Those mushrooms look really expensive
How much could one mushroom be, $10?
Go to the asain stores for mushrooms trader Joe's are traitors
The commentary is as gold as those yolks. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
9:48 We have another variation of it. We in South India call it "Sweet Pongal". You can just look it up on TH-cam. It is a nice sweet dish, and we usually have it first before our main.
5:21 NAAAH 💀
Yes test youtuber recipe books!!!!
As an Indian, I have never had this monstrosity before. What could be technically similar is kheer which is made from (rice, milk, sugar, elachi, dry fruits, foxnut)
I just love your outro. Its perfect. It has that vibe.
5:16 As a sicilian yes it's a fact
Mbare
"Soak our water in rice" 7:15🤣🤣🤣
i love this channel sm
My technique for a clump free rice: this can only be done overnight. Separate the grains before storing it in the fridge, a few big clumps is fine and put in the fridge without cover, so it dries faster. We can rehydrate the grains while cooking it. On the next day proceed with how fried rice is done and splashing a bit of fish sauce or soy sauce will rehydrate the rice up.
I always set a little rice aside fresh out of the cooker for sweet rice if I am craving a quick snack. Just had butter and honey stir and put in fridge for later or eat it fresh (some times add cinminomen).

Why...why is there half of potato on the stove?
I hv the same question lol
8:43 if i do this, i think it would make more sense to whisk the eggs first...? as long as it doesn't get touched then it wouldn't seep into the bottom and it's pretty hard to fuck up scrambled eggs in fried rice... the whole overcooked unsalted egg yolks in this makes me feel naseous just thinking about it lool
