    The way Aaron says "...if you don't have it, don't worry about it..." I love it!
    It is the spirit of cooking, or making anything on your own. We are NOT factories. We are human beings making food for ourselves and families. Why do we need to worry too much about following whoever. Yeah, it may come out different if we missed a particular sauce or something but why bother? This is your dishes. You or your family would like it because you spent efforts making it. It may taste different from how Aaron cooks it, or how Roger cooks it, but who can say which is best? You haven't tasted theirs, nor have they tasted yours! If you find it not tasty enough for you or family, add it back next time, or change other variables. That's the fun of cooking!

    • @TheTomimt

      Yeah, it's a great way of saying you don't have to go about it exactly as the recipe says. Just use what you have and season to your liking. That's been my MO on cooking for years.

    For those afraid of "fishy taste" in fish sauce: Worcestershire Sauce and Caesar Dressing both have fish in them, anchovies to be specific. So you already like some kinds of fish sauce, just try a different country's.

      Also, to add to this: I’m Asian and I don’t really like seafood and actually hate the smell of fish sauce :p but together with food??? Absolutely delicious!!!! Oyster sauce is indispensable in my kitchen now! It adds sooo much to the flavor profile

    • @belle3168
      @belle3168 3 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      By it's self, fish sauce is strong but it's mostly salty. A little bit of it really deepens the flavor of whatever dish you add it to, and it does not taste fishy at all. If you add to much at will very very salty and strong of anchovy.

      @@budjy1 I bought pre-cooked rice few times, its edible, depending on brand can be even good. Basically you just open the bag, put it in microwave and heat it for two to three minutes, so you can make it with this and still take circa 5-10 minutes.
      Recipes like these are also great when you have leftover cooked rice and dont know what with it. Egg on rice or fried rice makes for good early dinner.

      @@jazzysocksdude I checked my bag of rice, it says one serving is 1/4 cup dry, or 45g. So all the recipes that call for using 1 cup of dry rice, that's 4 servings or 180g. I usually cook that much, but since i eat one meal a day, I'll eat half of it. 3/4 cup cooked is what one serving is supposed to be so I'll eat 1 1/2 cups cooked. I had some white rice on hand, as well as some egg and bacon, and thought “maybe this could be good” so into the pan with my fish oil and seasonings I added some soy sauce, teriyaki and the bacon with an egg, making some of the best fried rice I’ve ever had. It’s crazy that upon finding this video, I discovered I basically made fried rice exactly the way you’re supposed to. But that’s really all cooking is huh? I have a huge tub I mix Long Grain rice with Jasmine. YUMMY! It is almost impossible to find short grain rice here, even Asian store does not carry it :( But I have a bowl of yesterdays rice drying out in fridge for my fried rice. Evidently after watching you I have been making Korean fried rice for 30 years. For mine I mix eggs and rice, add in green onions, green/red peppers, sweet onion, and some times I chop up ham or sausage in it. Add a lot of pepper and some salt. I put sesame seed oil, garlic and butter in pan, then add eggs. I then take cheese and cover the eggs. Then start stirring it up, scramble. YUMMY! My husband adds salsa or hot sauce on top.

      i think too many ESL (English as a Second Language) speakers are too self concious about their grammar, accent, and vocabulary. English is one of the few major languages in the world where there are more secondary speakers (people who learned English after a native language) then primary speakers (native english speakers) and its the worlds most widely spoken language, so there are so many people with accents that it doesnt matter. As far as grammar, english is a mess so few people notice or care about poor grammar and the same goes for vocabulary. I have a friend in his 90s who moved to the US from Germany during WW2, he's spoken mainly english for almost his entire life and _still_ has a thick german accent, so its not unusual

I played around with some different ingredients and I now, with the oyster sauce, add a bit of soy sauce and a few drops of sesame oil, as well as a bit of brown sugar. I whisk those ingredients with the eggs and then add the rice as you instructed. I also add some minced garlic to the green onion oil right before I add the rice mixture, otherwise the garlic will burn. Just some suggestions for anyone else that wants to take your delicious and easy recipe further!

    I love how simple and delicious this looks, I'm going to try making the egg fried rice tonight. So you turn the heat up to high when you add the rice mixture, but at what heat do you fry the green onion when making the green onion oil?

    Thanks from Romania 🇷🇴, Europe! Among other recipes like this, yours is #1, I keep it in the "useful" section🏆.Here we make ONLY boiled rice together with 2-3 vegetables and poultry.

    Aaron! Hello from Arkansas! I've made a few of your recipes and have loved all of them! Even this egg fried rice which I decided to make today on a whim (I only added frozen peas and carrots and regular onion) is the best fried rice I've ever had. Thanks also for the tip about the microwavable rice and how dry it is fresh out of the package before cooking! Your videos are great, thanks for the good work!

    Ok so, met a Chinese woman that immigrated to LA to open up a restaurant. 30 years later she has 3. She taught me how to make fried rice. Problem is it turns out like mush no matter what I do. When she helped me make it? Spot on. On my own? I am missing something. I can make PERFECT sticky rice. She advised me to let it sit in the fridge for a few hours, maybe overnight. It's after this I fail.
    Edit: You figured it out for me! I know what I am doing wrong! I put the veggies in BEFORE the rice! It makes it mushy due to the excess water! AHH! Thank you so much!
