Don’t you think it’s a little unfair to compare Mach-E CA R1 to Blazer EV RS? GT is actually more comparable to RS.
Is there such a thing as a Sport Utility Sedan? The Mach-E is more that, than a "SUV" .
especially when the GT is cheaper than the RS
Yea, they compared the the top end blazer to the mid range California machE. Talk about tone deaf. Also, he wants larger rims? On an EV? That already tells me this guy knows nothing about EVs.
I think they avoided the GT because with Magneride the ride would have improved and the performance disparity would have been even bigger.
@@chadjohnson1544 Yea, that's the point, compare the best suspension to the best suspension on each respective car.
California route 1 Edition is discontinued. Curious if the 2024 trims compare differently.
Fake engine noise in a Yaris or Prius EV should be the Jetsons’s flying car bubble noise.
How about Pac-Man??😜
I am in the process of researching which 5 seat EV SUV I will get to replace my current ICE 5 seat SUV. The Motor Trend reviewer touched on many of the criteria that are important to me: space for tall adults front and back; ride comfort; minimum of 200 miles; ergonomics - I want buttons for common items. I don’t want to have to scroll through a screen for everything; high tech convenience features;good looks; and acceleration better than my current SUV (my current ICE SUV is quite quick but I am “greedy “ and I want my EV to be even faster). Since 95%+ of the time I will be charging overnight at my home, then charging speed is not high on my list. Thus this video touched on many of the items on my list except ergonomics and optional convenience features. NOTE: I do watch Out of Spec and TFLEV and European reviews etc so I do have access to the technical specs. But even without all the tech specs, I still found value in this video and I enjoyed it
I’m glad you found value, but I own an EV and this video is kinda dumb imo. Everything is subjective (looks, screen, etc). The actual numbers go to the Ford sans cargo space, but the Chevy wins lol.
Also, the RS should be up against the premium instead of a CA R1.
Big rims are dumb. On an EV, they’re extra dumb. Harsher ride, more likely to get damaged, and a considerable reduction in range and efficiency. I appreciate any automaker that is willing to sell smaller, comfortable rims on top end EV trims.
Carefull he's a journalist he knows more than us.
So strongly agree with you! I was going to say the same. Unfortunately a lot of manufacturers force you into bigger rims on the premium models. I think the Fords look good enough but for all the reasons you list, they are the ones I would want to live with.
@@ModernCowboy78 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yeah I think I'll take interior space over a frunk
So one is a "crossover" that was supposed to be a car and the other is a "crossover" that is supposed to be a truck/suv 🤪
Two classic names that continue to have their faces pushed in the dirt.
How so? Have you ever driven a Mach-E? Do you own a Blazer or any sort of a Mustang? I leave almost all ICE mustangs watching my taillights recede in the distance.
I’m sorry, but big wheels on an SUV are just moronic. They are way beyond stupid. Big wheels and tires cost more. They aren’t enabling huge disc brakes, so they are only there for style. The low sidewall results in a terrible ride and you are far more likely to damage the tire and bend a rim on a pothole. In addition, with all the mass being further from the hub, they increase the angular moment of inertia, resulting in worse acceleration and braking. Anything bigger than 18” is just moronically stupid. I can’t wait for big wheels and the enormous grilles on 1/2 ton trucks to finally go out of style.
You know that big wheels are stupid, so why in the world are you saying you wish it had 23” wheels? You know that they make the ride worse. You know that they make acceleration and braking worse. You know that they make the wheels and tires more expensive and more likely to be damaged. So why in the ever loving world are you promoting big wheels when you know they suck?
The RS RWD should be the one to buy. The RS AWD is odd.
Door pulls are weird?? What a strange thing to say.
You keep calling them replacements for the old family sedan but I don’t remember old family sedans costing $60k…
Ease up on the Chevy Cool-aide
Ford fanboys are so upset. I would be too. Lol
IMO, the Mach-E looks better inside and out, but maybe if I saw them in-person, I would have a different opinion. Not sure why the Chevy RS is compared to a base-level RT1 instead of the GT, but perhaps that’s what they could get their hands on. I do hope GM does well, though.
Long live EV SUV's and the coming variants...
Carplay? Tesla charge connector? Charge speed?
I thought Jonny worked for Motor Trend, not Good Housekeeping. Spends a meager 30 seconds at the end on how the Mach-E outperforms the Blazer in every meaningful way- and it’s the clear loser? Is this Motor Trend? He never touches on Blazer unavailability of Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, nothing about no supercruise available yet while Mach-E has Bluecruise- gee Jonny, an embarrassing hatchet job on Mach-E from the first 5 seconds of the video. And let’s not forget Mach-E has been out 3 years already (so maybe a few things can use a refresh) while GM can still barely get these things, or any other Ultium products, out the door. Guess the accommodations from GM for the test drive were first rate…
Exactly my thoughts. I don't mind if a reviewer gives their opinion on looks, but to say several times about the looks "the blazer is the clear winner" is dumb. Personally I think the mustang looked way better, it's subjective. Also, for some, interior space will be important. For me, I rarely take more than 1 person with me and the mach-e has more space than I need. Anyway, so many things about this review was terrible.
He was bought by GM
Man, no one says anything good about this vehicle. I have one that I got through work as a fleet vehicle, and I really like it. I would not pay 60k plus for it, but other than that its really great. My personal vehicle is a model Y Performance, and other than than the acceleration difference they are both really comparable to each other. They put a ton of effort into making this thing super tech forward. I has so many options you can tweak on it. In fact It has almost all the settings my Y has, and even some it does not. It also is a very smooth ride. My Y is great but it is defiantly not a smooth ride, at least its not as smooth as the blazer. All in all I like them about the same but for different reasons. If they can drop that price a bit it makes for a very compelling little ride.
Have you seen this new minivan?
Canoo.
!
It seems like the domestic oems must benchmark the model y and say " we won't offer anything in our vehicles which is popular in the Tesla". How do both charge and their charging network, why are they slow compared to a model y and it seems like they are putting performance in vehicles over 100k. EVs have brought performance to the mass at a more affordable price.
GM just stopped sales of the Blazer EV, because of major technology issues. 😢
so i guess who wins after all
Not. True
What is with MotorTrend shilling so hard for the Blazer? They gush over it despite the underwhelming performance numbers and infortainment issues. But all other publications are more balanced in their coverage or have had issues and/or strandings with the Blazer.
Great video but terrible music….sounds like those musics play in Aliexpress product demo video….
Are we biased?
how much did chevy paid you?
In 2021 I purchased a Mustang Mach E Premium all-wheel-drive extended range battery for $56,440. That was MSRP. After all the recalls I decided just to sell it and get rid of it so I ended up selling it to AutoNation for what I paid for it minus The tax and license of course. I actually ended up making money from that deal because the tax credit was higher than the tax and license I paid. So for fun I put the Vin number into Carvana and now that vehicle is worth $30,000 less than I paid for it, that is unbelievable. I’m glad I got rid of it.
That was just all cars for a while, covid made it so many dealers were selling above asking price, so the used car market was literally insane
LoL its cause the car market is down again and you bought when it was bad lol it's not the car 😂
Yeah you never buy the first year of a new model…they need to work the “bugs” out first! Now I would buy one but a 2023!
Ev’s are great down south. Terrible for colder climates. Especially colder climates and wide open spaces like Canada….gas powered for me until we get 300 miles IN 0 degree weather
I have the same Color Ford Mustang Premium RWD.
Wonders if Cadillac’s ride quality better than
at the prices being asked, these vehicles won't replace nothing.
imagine how much these fools are being paid to shill for these piles of junk because that's exactly what these 'reviews' are
desperately so, green energy stocks are collapsing so it's an easy guess to make on what else will if they really do go 'all ev' in the future, the end of GM, Ford and DODGE...cooler heads need to prevail
They are also twice the price of a sedan. I'll pass. I'm not paying 50-60k for a car. That is complete waste.
Blazer is totally old-fashion!
I don't like Ford calling the Mach E a "Mustang", either. Maybe they shoulda called it the "Model T2".
Right out of the gate comparing an AWD Blazer EV to the most efficient RWD Mach-E should be interesting. The Ultium powertrains are more efficient than a lot of people realize, or at least are willing to acknowledge.
Lol, GM just issued a "software related" stop sale for the Blazer, but sure MT, I'm sure it's as awesome as you say...
Talking about flogging a dead horse... No wonder so few watch offerings from this bloke the video could be mistaken for a GM/Chevy Ad. The Mach-E is a far superior car compared to the Blazer but he spent the entire video trying to convince us to the contrary. Shame really as as far as I know the Mach-E has been out a few years now without any issues with software etc and Ford has not order a stop sales on the Mach-E shame bias has replaced objective reviews. Hope MT realises this before it's too late.
It's obvious these old automotive media still don't understand EVs, what a useless comparison! No mention of efficiency, no charging rates or charging testing done. Let's talk about the weight, the Blazer EV gets up to 5500 lbs, that's the highest in the class. I'll stick to Out of Spec Reviews and european channels who actually understand EVs!
For us nerds, sure. But this is all the info the general public cares about
@@GlitterGuru efficiency in miles/kWh is like MPG for a gas car. And we need to know charging speeds to understand how road trips will be like. None of this is nerd stuff.
Range and charging times is what people care about. I always get two questions in my EV.
1. How far does it go?
2. How long does it take to charge?
GM sucks a Electric ⚡️ they always have I heard recently how their top of Line Hummer EV was overdone and was just smashed together because look at the size of its battery being over 200kilowatt battery it should go a well over 500 mile range on a charge but they did not build the truck to get good efficiency, plus charging a 200 kilowatt battery takes forever and a ton of energy
@@ruffmadmanvery good point. he compares every ev with his Tesla ModelS
Comparing these two failures is just a waste of time and feels like you people have to advertise these "cars" to keep that sweet dough coming to your bank account. It's so pitiful it's not even funny!
As tested prices at or above 60k. Ha, no way.
Nope just bought the Chevy RS for 43k new
You can just hear the sadness from car enthusiasts everywhere.... Jonny included.
Are GM Executives still making hundreds of millions every year? Oh good~!!!
Dude the Mach E has been out for years and the blazer is literally brand new. Lol, this comparison is silly. Motortrend needs new people to do their videos.
Both of these are sort of boring. Since neither is the sport edition, you almost dont even need to review them, just look at the specs, look at the body, if thats ok for you, great. The Mache E GT vs the Blazer SS will be a good review.
I stopped watching when he said the Mustang looks like a rental car but the Blazer looks better. No idea why anyone would spend that much on such a mediocre EV with a Chevy Blazer badge.
I think Johnny leans a little.....
Eh…Mustang looks unique and blazer looks run of the mill SUv.
The Blazer seems way better but is it a fair comparison given that the Ford is older ?
Yea, they compared the the top end blazer to the mid range California machE. Talk about tone deaf. Also, he wants larger rims? On an EV? That already tells me this guy knows nothing about EVs
New normal. Lol
Motor Trend brought to you by GM, Mary Barra and Xi Jingpin.
Ah motor trend and it’s nonsense.
Ford didn’t build the Mach-e to be an SUV. It’s attempting to be a sporty Mustang with some of the utility of an SUV. But it’s trying to have that Mustang DNA in it.
The Blazer is a blazer. Nobody cares about Blazers.
The Mustang competition is the Tesla Model Y. Not the Blazer.
Bad review Johnny.
The Mach E looks better. I don’t agree with Johnny’s take on design.
I am shocked that he thinks the Blazer looks better
Not a fair review. The Chevy RS is the top trim level where the California Rt 1 Mach E is basically the base model! 100% chevy biased and that sucks. if this was really a fair test you'd actually use comparable models and you would be UNBIASED! Two thumbs down for this "review"
I understand, Jonny. He gets paid
from Chevrolet, not from Ford..
But, Ford marc E has the best look and performance
Yup. Bingo. Chevy paid the bills Chevy gets the win over the car that's more fun to drive and drives better and handles better.
This is NOT the new normal.
The reviewers Chevy Fanboy is showing
well he's getting paid to be so...
I believe that consumers need to educate themselves with EV’s. Do your research. Charging, software updates, efficiency, etc. GM, Ford, they are so behind in technology. They promise but where are the cars?
“New normal” 😂, BS! They have their place, I’m not denying that, but they are not the new normal. These are more like a niche vehicle similar to how the VW TDIs were in the states before the scandal.
Range , charging speed, price and NACS.....must have all
350 plus miles, 250kw dcfc , competitive price nacs charger- no adapter bs
Gasoline forever
Sadly, I doubt it. I love ICE vehicles too, but climate change is real. And, in case you haven't bee paying attention, it's killing people in increasing numbers. We need to move away from fossil fuels and EVs are a necessary part of that transition. I just wish they were more practical and more affordable.
ICE is dead, it just doesn't know it yet.
The russh to make ridiculous fast accelerating consumer EV's scares me. Most people can barely handle an 8 second 0-60 car without being an incompetent driver, we don't need every person staring at their cell phone equipped with a 8,000lb monster that can do 60 under 5 seconds.
Horrible work on reporting, comparing and fact checking. Wildly biased.
OMG! So annoying music.
Nem se compara, o Blazer é mil vezes melhor e mis bonito que o Mustang.
“this is the new normal” ummmm.. have you seen the evs sitting on parking lots of dealers
Got a news flash for you…ICE vehicles are sitting as well!! People are sick of the dealers and their mark ups!! Also interests rates are quite high right now!
I have an ev. Its a 🚲. 😂
The Mustang looks like a big blob, the Blazer looks much better
I don't know why they still have Johnny doing reviews. He is too full of himself, no one likes him and the number of views reflects it.
Chevy is not always better then ford not all the time so chill out
Nobody cares.
He actually said GAS pedel!!!😊🤦
Can you give a comparison w/o being biased? I don't think I'll finish watching 😢.... Sorry!
The Chevrolet Blazer EV clearly is leaps and bounds above that of the Ford Mach-E. The exterior and interior design on the Chevrolet just look more premium and less “I’m a Tesla alternative”. It also drives better than the Ford even on larger wheels, which speaks for their engineering and suspension tech. Not to mention the build quality in the Ford is nice but it’s even better in the Blazer. i understand many have been programmed to hate *gm* but at some point you gotta grow up and start being honest with yourselves - Chevy knocking these Ultium products out of the park.
What's with the GM hate anyway? I'd like a fuller idea. It can't be just the Mary Barra Joe Biden thing , could it?
@@akpowarri3504 that’s literally all it is. Some people claim they have poor reliability and/or build quality but that’s usually the claims from owners of older ICE models or people who have never owned a modern *gm* vehicle themselves AT ALL. It’s 98% brand perception, the same thing that sells Toyotas despite their latest quality and reliability issues.
The hate for the POTUS Joe Biden, democrats electric vehicles and “liberals” is REAL. People hate certain American manufacturers because they’ve been trained to based upon their political views and it makes no logical sense.
I wonder how much they were paid by GM for this, because wow they ragged on that Ford for no reason
He also ragged on the Blazer, so I’m not sure *gm* would pay him to do that. These folks are just clearly biased against American manufacturers.
Motor Trend is dead
RIP Motor Trend
So you're comparing a crossover with an SUV and trying to say they're in the same category?? 😂 Maybe next time you could compare a Toyota Yaris to a Bugatti Veyron, and complain about the fuel mileage on the Bugatti... Come on guys, do better, make an actual fair comparison.
The Mach e is hideous in the front end
They blow up, no good
Compare to a Model Y.
Pretending it doesn’t exist crushes your credibility.
They are both ugly, but the Mach E actually doesn't look generic.
Delusional. I bet you think the Model Y and EQE look amazing.
@@G-Rated uh, no. No, I don't. MB's current EQ lineup looks like hideous jellybean cars. Teslas are whatever derivative whatchu ma call its.
Unless there is a radical and rapid change in manufacturing, infrastructure, these EV's will be found in museums as marginal ideas gone bad. Nothing about them is "green", nothing about them is a good buy, but they sure do fit the narrative. They are niche vehicles, but go ahead, get one as your daily driver.😂
Well, been driving one for 9 years. Best daily driver I've ever had, so I will? Over and over again.
If i unfortunately had to buy an EV. It would be a Tesla. All EV’s are horrible with resale and the charging infrastructure is simply not there outside of CA
are you sure, you'd buy a EV that's 27th of of 28 in Forbes WORST RELIABILITY SCALE? well good luck! 😅
And neither company is able to sell them 😂
Tesla beats both.
Nah, the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV beats ALL ESPECIALLY TESLA.
@@RichardJoashTan😂😂
yep so far tesla is 27th out of 28th in Forbes WORST RELIABILITY SCALE, only Lincon took the 28th spot
and this was BEFORE the 2,000,000 million tesla recalls just announced 🤣
Nobody is buying mach-es. That tells you a lot
35908 nobodies in 2023 as of November 😊
and you say that to 'say what?' that 35,000 plus morons got shafted by a pile of junk that's PILING UP ON LOTS, if they're moving so fast then there should be a shortage of EV's NO AUTO COMPANY has a shortage but a surplus of junk that no sane rational person would dare touch unless they're gluttons for punishment @@irfanhusein1445
Very biased...
new norm my rear end. not enough lithium in the world OR the electricity grid to power them all
Still trash and worse for the environment than gas and diesel vehicles
NOBODY wants ev’s
In the end, we're all losers from the push to end ice engines for evs that just move the pollution elsewhere in the vehicles life cycle
nobody can say with a straight face that EVs are the future of transportation... not by carbon footprint, not by affordability and not by reliability. I'll stick with fossil fuels.
You can’t say with a straight face it won’t be now that all the manufacturers have announced dates of when they plan to end ice production.
