    I think it's interesting how we as the audience always readily believe anything any character on the screen tells us. It is totally possible that the witches, Jedi, Osha, Mae, etc. aren't telling the truth. Specifically the villain characters. They're villains! They can't be automatically trusted. I really enjoy not knowing who to trust in this show. It adds a level of mental suspense that Star Wars has really only done once before in the Last Jedi.
    I do think some of the dialogue, sets, effects could be better but to each their own.
    Also, Sol is the best character in this show. He steals every scene he is in.

    • @starwarslads
      @starwarslads  หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Sol is a scene stealer for sure! The empathy and care he has is so very much like Qui-Gon, but it does seem he's going to allow some bad stuff to happen or excuse because of the circumstances

    A fun little easily missed detail is that the door of the room that Oshie is trapped in and is set ablaze is designed to resemble Vader’s helmet.
    Just a cool design choice as Vader obviously has nothing to do w/ this show 100yrs before he’s born. But maybe a foreshadowing of the beginning of the path that leads to him. Also a further link between Oshie/Mae & the Chosen One.

    In regard to Darth Plaguies, I didn't think of him as palpatines master when I watched episode 3. When I heard palpatine say "have you heard of the tragedy of Darth plaguies the wise" that it was a sith legend, to me that says it's been passed down like any legend would be. Not something that happened 10-15 years before. Idk its always something that I had in my head but I still enjoyed the book.

      It's definitely a really unique placement in the timeline, and to then directly overlap with the events of The Phantom Menace as well. Was it necessarily needed? Maybe not, but Luceno ties it all together really well.

    Hi guys, I am beginning to echo with your sentiment in regard to how bad the screenplay is structured. That being said, I have more speculations for what exactly happened in brendoc.
    The show clearly takes its inspiration from rashomon. I think we need explanations for why:
    - The Jedi possess guilt and sorrow for what happened on brendoc.
    - Why mae thinks the Jedi were responsible for the destruction of her coven.
    - Why osha thinks mae was the one responsible for what happened.
    I think Episode 3 is OSHA’s perspective. The episode had gaps in continuity, and feels like it’s tailored towards explaining osha’s recollection of events. Now we know that there are more flashback scenes in the trailer! Scenes where the Jedi fight among themselves.
    **My bet is that aniseya tells mae and korril to escape brendoc and set up shop elsewhere.**
    The witches likely value keeping their knowledge private, and wouldn’t want osha to go with the Jedi. Therefore I think the coven decide to kill osha and commit suicide themselves by ingesting bunta. The way aniseya hugs osha in sorrow and says THE COVEN NEEDS TO DECIDE, tells me this could be a possibility.
    The Jedi probably confront korril and mae during the escape, since they’re surveilling the location. They fend off korril while being the target of her magic. This explains why they were fighting each other. Mae probably will attempt to set fire to the coven’s home- to prevent the Jedi from saving osha or getting their hands on other belongings. The Jedi prevail over korril, but find the mass grave while trying to rescue osha. They probably imprinted a false memory in osha to make her think the witches haven’t killed themselves (it was Mae’s fault), as that would be their fault. The Jedi probably thought this lie would stick because she’s primed to believe it. This would likely explain their guilt. Had they not insisted that they take the children, none of this would have ever happened.
    I think in the end, sol and indara probably tell themselves that it was good that the coven got destroyed, due to their unnatural practices as a way to cope about what happened and how they were uniquely responsible for something so tragic. Clearly torben and kelnacca weren’t able to get over what happened, and sol/indara are hanging by the thread of that justification. It is poetic if you think about it, why torben would readily take BUNTA to commit suicide.
    Now, I feel other flashback sequences would flesh out the perspectives of the Jedi and Mae. Maybe the Sith Lord will end up being responsible for corrupting korril and mae? Surely Mae needed someone’s help in escaping from the burning fortress. Was the Sith Lord already in contact with aniseya? Did he have a proposal of his own? Only the next episodes will answer these questions, and therefore I’m very excited.

      Great points raised here! We do think and make note in the live that a Mae-centric flashback is coming, but ideally after some events play out in present day with Kelnacca and the lightsaber duels with the supposed Sith. If it happens next week that would really halt the flow of the show, even if we do get most of the answers. The Jedi perspective could be really tied to Mae's, and we need to see a lot of the before too and why Sol was tailing the twins, but could a third flashback with the Jedi following some dark side or mysterious threat be in play?
      Our belief isn't that Osha is mind tricked, but rather Sol is hiding what the Jedi did in a conflict with the witches or a misunderstanding took place and the Jedi had to fight to the death as they tried to posseess them. Torbin may not be fully free of the possession, and Kelnacca may be possessed when he attacks Torbin. Agreed that Indaara probably did the most outright morally wrong thing here, but to what extent? We're both curious and excited!

      @@starwarslads I think if there’s another flashback centric episode or two, it would be among the last three episodes.

      @starwarslads  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Yeah Liam mentioned somewhere around episode 6 or 7 is ideal to get the details of this episode to flow into the present day story!

  • @DamnFineCupOfCoffee
    @DamnFineCupOfCoffee หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    So...this episode is what Osha was mind-tricked to believe what happened, right?

    • @starwarslads
      @starwarslads  หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      We don't think a force mind trick is in play honestly. Shock alone at what's happening could make Osha blurry on the details, but we see Torbin clawed up at the end and the Jedi desperately trying to leave. Mae alone didn't cause the fortress to go on flames, that generator is surrounded by stone, so the Jedi, one of the witches, or maybe even the Sith sabotaged and destroyed it.

    • @DamnFineCupOfCoffee
      @DamnFineCupOfCoffee หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@starwarslads ah yes could simply be more to the story we didn’t see.
      But a mind trick mind would be more interesting/disturbing to me, as it’s “performed” on the audience such that even we cannot “trust our eyes” in this show.

    • @starwarslads
      @starwarslads  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      It's a good shout still, especially as Jedi use the mind trick pretty liberally in this show. Maybe it was used more to soothe out the darker reality for Osha vs just a specific version of events.

    Lucasfilm is not changing anything regarding to Anakin's chosen "oneneness" . We don't know exactly how the twins were created but from the information given so far, it was different from Anakin's.
    Anakin was a manifestation of the force. The twins were somehow created by the witch. Yeah maybe she manipulated the Force to create the twins but still...different from Anakin and definitely not as special. Don't think we should be stressing about this for now anyway.

    • @starwarslads
      @starwarslads  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      We do agree it's different, especially with Mother Koril hinting that the Jedi would find it unnatural and not approve. We're just a little bit worried is all, and we've highlighted on our channel even the slight retcons explained away in canon like the Kanan origin do bum us out. Still optimistic it'll be handled well. We totally agree Anakin was borne of the will of the Force, just very curious what's going to be the full explanation for the twins and if it'll even be revealed fully.

  • @Breno_Lira
    @Breno_Lira หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    So you said you wouldn't want for "Plagueis" to be influenced/inspired by the witches and their "life creation" possible powers....
    Would you like if a Sith was behind the witches, like using them as experiments about life-creation? Seems like something a sith would do during this time. Using someone else for their shady work since they were trying to remain hidden.

    • @starwarslads
      @starwarslads  หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      It's a definite possibility. And it's not that the witches can't be the ultimate answer to the creation of life through the Force, but if they are genuinely doing something dark side influenced, we'd prefer Plagueis because he ultimately failed and the Force responded to his actions. If the Sith are manipulating groups and the like who are not necessarily bad but practicing dangerous things, then they'd have a variety of arenas of influence even before taking the political route with Palpatine.
      Ultimately, it could be something more akin to splitting the children into two halves and what we're seeing of the twins could be like the Nightsister magik that transformed Savage Opress- in effect until death. Great question!

    The structure is really good, dont get why you guys struggle to follow. Cause it is a tv show and it wont give everything away in 1 episode, almost feel like you guys dont have patience or just want to give random hate that makes no sense at all.. None of the critism mentioned makes sense cause you would have applied it on the clone wars/andor/prequels etc... Looks like another youtube channel jumped the hate bandwagon.

      Honestly if Disney just released all episodes at once, a lot of these criticisms would have been moot. The mystery aspect of the show is perhaps frustrating to fans. I personally loved the acolyte so far. It’s basically what I’ve always wanted from SW

      @padme669 Wow, really surprised to see this, and honestly we're a bit hurt. Almost every week we talk with our base about how this is a welcoming space for all Star Wars fans, please check the replay and live chat for that.
      We have no issue with the content of the episode, we're critical of the structure of the episode because of the premiere episodes exposition. We just wanted more of a twist reliant on Mae's perspective and not the perspective Osha believes. Want to make that clear, we're NOT hating this episode.
      We know another perspective of the flashback will happen, but to say we haven't been consistent with structural problems with Star Wars and Disney+ shows is not true. We really enjoyed Ahsoka, but a lot of the pacing for the first four episodes concerned us greatly, and there's a lot of loose threads from the Peridia section of the story that leave parts of the story feeling incomplete. Having both studied film in college, we aren't the biggest fans of seasons that feel like extended movies and not making full use of the weekly episode drop format.
      We also both rank Episode I and II from the prequels quite low on our tier list ranking videos, which you can find on the channel.
      Again, we're invested in the story and the show and want it to succeed. We're huge The High Republic fans, we've reviewed every book, comic and manga on this channel! We're not frustrated like some of the hate channels about how the Jedi are portrayed, we enjoy the Thread as another Force belief, we're open to seeing how the witches created the secretive and unnatural birth of the twins, and we're really looking forward to discussing it with y'all week after week! We're not struggling to follow the structure, Sanak even called this being a flashback episode. We're just finding it to have the flaws of other Star Wars shows we've enjoyed.
      Thank you for your comment, we sincerely appreciate the feedback. But we're not going to limit our honest thoughts about this show, like we haven't for The Bad Batch, Ahsoka, The Mandalorian S3, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Book of Boba Fett, Tales of the Jedi, Tales of the Empire, etc.
      Would love to hear your further thoughts, we're very open to hearing more of your opinions!

      @@starwarslads I understand your perspective, and I apologize if I came across too harshly. While watching the stream, it seemed like you both really disliked the episode. Personally, I believe it's some of the best Star Wars content we've seen in live-action television. No other writer has dared to delve so deeply into the story, exploring themes such as the creation of the children, the use of magic, and the mystery surrounding those events. The exceptional acting and stunning cinematography also stood out to me. Given all these elements, I'm puzzled by your lower ranking of the episode. This is what thriller mysteries are all about-asking questions like "What really went on during those events?" Osha's perspective seems conflicted, but that's part of the intrigue that keeps us, as fans, eagerly waiting for the next episode. Personally, I love this narrative structure, but I understand that everyone has their own preferences. It feels like this show is receiving a lot of unnecessary hate, despite having a more original story, the best cinematography, amazing locations, and a great cast with new characters who could be killed off at any moment. I apologize again for my harsh words. But i have to disagree with these takes that were said during the stream.

The internet and especially Twitter and Facebook are not the end all be all for Star Wars opinions. Do not come to our channel complaining about DEI, especially since we've been lifelong fans and respect all walks of life, races, religion, gender, etc. One of us is Indian as well, so we're not going to just accept that seeing non-white people in Star Wars justifies this response.
