Happy 18th anniversary, MOTHER 3! I made this animation specially for today! I hope you all enjoy it!

This could've been Nintendo's OWN FF7 if development continued...
I've always thought the same thing but think it would've been even more impressive and revolutionary. Earthbound 64 would've essentially been the super mario 64 for role-playing games imo. Overworld combat, internal clock, and dynamic physics like getting stuck in walls and sliding down slopes. All of this on the Nintendo 64, a console most thought, couldn't even handle an rpg. Hence, the lack of rpgs on the platform aside from a few exceptions.
While I think the quality would have definitely been there, its release date would have likely doomed it to obscurity.
If Nintendo decided to push on and finish it, it would have come out in 2001 and potentially be the last big title for the N64. By that point, people moved on to the next generation.
Also, keep in mind that it would have had to compete with Flinal Fantasy 10, which would have come out on the same year. While EB 64 was graphicly impressive for the N64, FF10 just blws it out of the water.
@vico7727 I think had EB64 released way sooner in the lifetime of the N64. It really could've been a standout title. Probably up there with some of the best titles of the console. Compared to FF7 though, I think EB64 would've blown it out of the water.
@@ajnandez2987 I agree with you that if they were able to fully realise their vision for the game and release it earlier in the N64's life it would have been a huge success. However, I don't think the game would have been able to live up to its ambition if it released any sooner. If they tried to rush it out the door in 1998 for example, it would have been so cut down and compromised that it would have struggled to stand out in comparison the avalanche of RPGs on the PS1.
People keep saying Mother 3 was better off on the GBA and the sprite art style was so much better. But I think the opposite and I think Mother 3 would have been a much better game had they finished development on the N64 as there was suppose to be 4 more chapters and the N64's eerie graphics go well with Mother 3's unsettling dark tones and themes. It would be like if Majora's Mask got moved to the GBA. Would it have had the same unsettling atmosphere as the N64 version? Absolutely not. The N64 cooks well with horror and dark themes.

Man i love the expression duster makes when butch says he doesn't even know what is it, it's gives this a lil more reality to the animation.
Any time one of these are made, my day gets 500 times better. These cutscenes feel so full of life!
This is amazing! You guys really captured the feeling of Chapter 2 and the suspension it creates.
Remember. There was always a timeline where the game released.

I love how expressive everyone in this animation is! Even salsa turning back to look at duster gives him slightly more emotion than in the GBA port

Thank you. I was on the project for a short time to help with accuracy, but it was very disorganized.
@@snow_wood oh gotcha. yeah earthbound/mother fanprojects really suffer from disorganization. Keep doing what you're doing though.
I think this is honestly maybe more important because it's the only real way we can experience this game in the absence of a serious fan project.

Isn't the currency supposed to be Dragon Points instead of Coupons?
Coupons was the originally currency that was renamed / reworked into Coupons later in GBA's development.
