Early Final Boss + Ending Concept - MOTHER 3 GBA [READ DESCRIPTION]

- This is a "recreation" of the original MOTHER 3 Final Boss & Ending using early GBA Assets + descriptions of the original N64 version. Note this isn't 100% accurate & is mostly built of assumptions of unused data.

Note! The final boss was always intended to be a battle between Lucas & Claus. It had nothing to do with Giygas & there was always just one ending. However, the battle itself did change.
+ Hatless Flint walking sprites
+ Unused backgrounds reimplements (or at least, a few of them)
+ Unused flashbacks restored (added based on placement + content)
+ "Love Theme" didn't exist, used "His Highness Theme (Sad Variant)" as replacement
+ "Resolve (Gum Guy's Recommendation)" over "Phantasmagoric"
+ Unused Ending scenes added in over others.

I never thought I could feel even more broken seeing the ending but this puts a whole new perspective on it all.

It's really cool to hear how It's Over sounds with the Sad Theme, I actually think that it fits better than the original (my opinion)...

I still prefer the original but holy hell you did an amazing job at piecing this together and truly giving us the feeling of what what could have been! If Itoi went with the darker side of things adding the cut backgrounds I have a feeling those flashbacks, the music and the ending (besides the franklin badge reflection) would have been portrayed very differently. He for SURE had to tone it down even with the cut content

Wow, this is incredible. I love that "Resolve" was used for the ending. I have a feeling that track was the original song to play during the ending in the 64 game.

I kinda wish that the game had the unused backgrounds, it shows how screwed up this truly is, and how Claus is in a sort of constant torture
I am divided... On one hand, I see why they did what they did in the original game. Without dialogue, the whole scene is hard to swallow and feels empty. On the other hand, I always felt like Hinawa inexplicably coming back from beyond the veil was somewhat melodramatic and out of nowhere. I still kind of like this more stoic interpretation. It just sits right with me.

Mother 3 is an ideal game in tragedy genre but yet this game is locked in Japan and everyone think that the graphics can make game better

I think this fight looks creepy enough on the GBA. I can't imagine how creepy this would look on the unreleased N64 version.
Although... honestly I'm glad they just stuck with Phantasmagoric.
Fun fact: the “unused flashbacks” were actually intended to be part of the game’s unused “Attract Mode” where it would show small previews of the game, similar to Earthbound/Mother 2

There is no "Love Mode" that goes unused. Are you talking about the unused "Attract Mode"? If so, both are somewhat functional & are not related to the unused flashbacks. All flashbacks return you to the Masked Man fight.

I mean, if we're getting technical and not including the Love theme, perhaps this was what the sad version of King P's theme was for: the moments near the end where Claus regains his senses.
The Sad Pigmask Theme was meant for all instances of the regular Love Theme, as "His Higness' Theme" was the original main theme of the game.

This is such a good concept for the unused things for the ending of this game. The remade version of It’s Over is incredibly fitting.
So this is supposed to be before December 2005, when the Love theme we know and, well, _love,_ was composed. It would be extremely interesting to have a detailed timeline with the Mother 3 GBA development though. We don't even know the exact start period of the GBA part, but I think it's around 2003, when 1+2 was released?
We have a good timeline & development history on TCRF! Me & my friends worked to make it good! Also it's a middle ground between EB64 & Early GBA.

I like the final version very much, still one of the most emotional parts of any video game. BUT, I believe them including the red background would have actually answered Giygas' design in Earthbound. Perhaps it's a state of mental madness, not caring for who they are, just wanting to get the job done. In Giygas' case, destroying humanity.
I’m so sick of people claiming this was proof that Giygas was supposed to be in this game.

I gotta say, after watching this I find it really difficult to imagine this game without the love theme. That whole song somehow feels like the soul of this game, all the sad moments really don’t hit as hard when it’s just the Porky motif.
I feel like the background is meant to reflect Claus' internal thoughts and feelings as he desperately tries to regain control over his heavily modified body since technically he's supposed to be dead or at least barely alive.
Does anyone know what happened to that Porky's theme version of It's Over at 9:35? I remember there was a separate upload of the track itself a while back, but I can't find it anywhere now.
