I just find out of all the actors, Jean Alexander is really acting. Many others seem to just have a very similar version of themselves. Not that I have seen interviews with many others, so may be wrong. Especially Ken, at least in gestures and voice. Never really watched this after 1983 and even then just if mum had it on. I see in hindsight the how much effort Jean Alexander put into her character. I watched "Last of the Summer Wine", but missed her in it sadly.
Ken Barlow was such a self-righteous do-gooding prig over those muggings; you can see clearly that this was the start of big problems in the Barlows' marriage, and I really didn't blame Deirdre at all for her affair with Mike Baldwin. But early 1982, she and Ken had only been married less than a year, but they were already at odds. It did not bode well.
