I love the fact that in those days, the action centred on middle aged people, and people in their thirties upward. Hardly a kid or teenager in sight, and I loved that about it.

Me too; and the actors were more passionate about their roles too. Today with Stephan going around killing people and kids drugging drinks in school dances and such it is awful to watch. I know that sometimes it happens but we don't have to be plunged in it day after day.

It was so true, and it was like a normal Street, I don't know any streets in Manchester. That are like what it is now in coronation street. I feel they have lost their way. Tony Warren would be turning in his grave. Coronation Street is definitely not what it should be

@irenemorley75. Irene. The actors are the same age as each other, whereas the characters they play are different ages.
For example, William Roache is 91 years old. However, Ken Barlow is 81.
Eileen Derbyshire is also 91. I'm not sure if, in the story, Emily Bishop is the same age as the actress that plays her or not. However, whilst in real life the actors are the same age as each other, I believe the character of Emily is older than the character of Ken.

Suzie Birchall's sparkle was missing from her second stint in the street. When she first appeared in 1977 and subsequently took up lodgings with Gail at Elsie's she was a breath of fresh air, legendary, brilliant, the character had energy and sparkle. This time around she just happened to be a shadow of her former self, as flat as the proverbial pancake and a complete waste of the script writers time.

    Her simpering, whimsical
Miss Put Upon, is her outer persona but shes really an interfearing narcissistic bully
    However, im thoroughly enjoying
Every video because each & every one gives up another Hero &
    Villain...
    Sometimes its Mrs Hitler Emily
Or twittering Mavis, Savage Suzie, Boring Barlow, Tetchy Tatlock, Rude Rita, Lionmouth Len, Awful Alf, Bolshy Baldwin,
    Irritating Ivy, Vicious Vera
They all have their moments &
    Undercurrents of hidden depths
Springing forth to vex us or
Enchant us... its all part & parcel
    Of the brilliant
    Coronation Street!!!
Still loving every episode & loving to hate the current bully in vogue!
Emily is one superb actress, she can certainly stir up the aggro!

I was surprised and disappointed that Elsie was taken in by Terry. Given her experience with blokes though, she seems naive after all these years at this point.
Suzi gets on my nerves but to have her old friend not believe her husband hit her is a double whammy. The obsession with being married and putting up with abusive behaviour is unreasonable. It's irrelevant how long the resltionship and whether someone is married or not. Some people are so desperate to be in a relationship they accept anything for "the sake of their marriage".
Elsie was one big let down on this occasion. Shame on her.

"We are going camping, Mavis ..." says Victor ... the men in this era of Coronation Street just give orders to the women, rather than ask them what they want to do; when Hilda is off colour, for example, even such as Terry Duckworth take over, and start dictating what she should do ...

Mr Cheetham ( on seeing the factory girls leaving) “Hope we don’t have that row every day!”
Mrs Cheetham “It’ll be quiet the rest of the time.”
    Don’t count on it!

Ahhhh. Hilda can't afford principles, or to be a good neighbor. All she can afford, is to play whatever role that pays her, and impose the principles, she can't afford, onto others she deems unprincipled.
But, heaven forfend anyone call her a hypocrite, for speaking out of both sides of her gob.

2:35:40 I can't believe Elsie invited Susie's literal stalker/abuser in, she really is the original pick-me girl.
Edit because I got to the end of the episode: GOD I hate Elsie so much. Susie told her that he hit her and she still left her alone with him, she's the worst on so many levels.
