Sama Dadash How, that’s rude. How is it only her, when she was notified by a fan’s comment. Please use your brains before commenting. There are many people out there that are more prone to hair loss and she is doing a favor to those people that are like her.
Yeah, I always thought about it but I’m black with kinky hair And all the other people were just sponsors and I know for a fact they don’t actually use it 🙄
@@gabb5 my friend used it hahaha and she has a channel xddd but she was sponsored too so... But I also use it so yeah. I guess this product it's not for everyone
I just commented on this video with my experience with it, I truly do love it. I've had trials and errors with a LOT of shampoos and conditioners and this is the only one that has helped my hair. I think it may just depend on your hair type. My hair is dyed black, I have bleached and dyed it quite a few times now. I also have really thick hair and light to medium oily hair. (I'm not a sponsor, I wish I was lmao but I just really enjoy it!)
if u need a second opinion function of beauty has changed my hair, before it was a rats nest, not soft, tangled, and split ends, but now my hair is so soft and it looks like i curled it and it’s so much better, not frizzy and literally perfect
I think everyone experiences are different because everyone’s bodies are different. I’ve used function of beauty for awhile now and my hair has grown 3-4 inches and healthier than its ever been. But like I said everyone’s bodies are different and will react differently.
You probably weren't using good products before. so using products that are _kinda_ better helped your hair, but, it's still probably not best for your hair.
I use this shampoo and mine has been working really good and I used hair salon shampoos before, I always have a lot of hair fall out for years I also I have a lot of hair too haha
My main issue was how overpriced it was for a small amount of mediocre product. My hair hasn't improved, in fact, my hair is so knotted at the end of my shower. The conditioner doesn't really do anything. Like the idea is cool to have customized hair care, but it doesn't really live up to what is advertised.
Oh for real? I was going to buy both of the little 8oz for $40 to see how it works but I think since I see all these negative comments about it + this video, I'm just gonna buy some other shampoo and conditioner
The conditioner makes my hair really really greasy despite being ‘tailored’ to my hair. I hate it. Not to mention the company scammed me so now I have another bottle of their shampoo and conditioner lying around and I feel wasteful not to use it but it lasts so long i’m gonna have greasy hair for the next year😭
I made a one time purchase, 3 months later I see £40 missing from my bank account when even my profile on their website said i had no subscriptions, and they only refunded me 50%🙄
@@Hannah-sr6qz After I purchased it, I started reading comments and seeing that was happening to others. For myself, I haven't seen anything yet but it has def made me paranoid that I will see a random charge at some point. With the quarter of the container I have left in each, I'm just using it as a shaving cream/shaving lotion at this point. It's not worth the hair struggle.
Just because it did not work for her does not mean it won’t work for you. I been using function of beauty for 2 months now and I really like how my hair looks, my hair doesn’t fall like that. Plus I only wash my hair once a week. I must say, they do overcharge for such a small bottle.
I've been using function of beauty for two years now and my hair started falling out really bad since February. However in that time I was laid off (before covid), covid happened, and I had to move. Then I ran out before my next subscription arrived and I used a drug store shampoo and conditioner... Not only did my hair loss not slow down, my hair got so rough and frizzy. Function of beauty may be contributing to my hair loss, but it keeps my hair so healthy in other ways I will continue to use it!
This is what I exactly want to say ....yeah some product doesn't suitable for all ..so ..it's better to taking reviews from all and have a try .even I am pretty excited to try this
That’s super interesting to watch, because I used to lose a lot of hair before I started using Function of Beauty, now that I’m using it, my hair is growing healthier and I’m not losing as much as before. I wonder why there’s drastic differences in our experiences
I don't see anything wrong with the piles of hair, everybody loses around 100-200 hairs per day.. My piles of hair are so much bigger than that becuase I have thick and a lot of hair.. So I don't see anything wrong with the pictures she shared, any shampoo would do the same honestly (just my opinion don't /at me)
Anika Jaqueline My hair is just at my shoulders atm and I lose this amount of hair too, Sometimes more. Ive not started with this brand yet but just ordered it today. My hair is really thick though
Yes, everyone loses hair, my hair appears to fall out more when I need it cut (not sure why) but considering she did a test and it's an obvious difference I'd say she did the right thing for her. Everyone is different though. I'm considering ordering it and this video won't sway my decision, I will, however, keep an eye out for that.
@@Zoliagaming good for you ! I personally don"t like their shampoo/conditionner i am currently using them.. They smell good and all but they make my hair more dry and the purple shampoo doesn't work at all on me.. I just prefer to use shampoos from the hair salon ahahha
Usually it’s the conditioner that makes hair fall out when you put it on roots. I might be wrong tho cause it doesn’t happen to me when I only put conditioner on my ends and shampoo on my roots.
I think it’s out of the norm for her. So although it may be normal for us but not for her. I used to use DevaCurl and had gradually started losing more and more hair. As soon as I stopped using DevaCurl my hair loss is about half if not less. I still do a sulfate free shampoo.
When u use shampoo and conditioner that traditionally has silicone in it and u switch to a silicone free version your hair will fall out (it just happens!) I’ve been using silicone free shampoos and conditioners for years and I’m not bald guys! But I did notice more hair falling out than when I used silicone based Haircare I think it’s because the silicone builds a layer on the hair which makes it stronger than natural, but overtime I think the hair will just get too heavy and break from build up 🤷♀️
The silicone buildup actually turns into a wax. So it’s basically like gluing old dead hair to your scalp. We are naturally suppose to lose hair, especially when it’s wet.
I stopped using shampoos with Silicone and my hair stopped falling out. My theory is that silicones clog pores and damage the hair over time. I have experienced this. Now I use Not Your Mothers Curl Shampoo and hair product line. Any hair type can use their products. And their products are far far less expensive than luxury hair product. More expensive doesn’t mean better.
That makes sense the build up would eventually break the hair, ugh idk if my hair just freaks out 😂 but I lose so much hair, I'm almost out of shampoo and conditioner I've been using Maui Moisture which makes my hair feel great but yeah my hair is all over the house so I might give not your mothers a go
Ruthie S. But IS IT that good? This brand looks like gimmick to me. (btw don’t have to convince me to buy it or anything, I’ve been seeing the ad for over a year and never thought of buying)
Wan Ching Ho It really depends on how your hair reacts to the products. Like for me the olaplex no.3 doesn’t work as great as biolage repairing leave in treatments. So if the herbs they use don’t work with you ... it’s not worth it. But when it does work it’s pretty darn good compared to spending $100+ on Aveda or Olaplex. I just bought it to test it out because a lot of what they use I use naturally already but it’s easier to get everything combined in one bottle than do a bunch of seperate treatments and make my wash days like 18 hours.
But how much do you spend in 4 months on "normal" hair care? I was using Herbal essences BioRenew at 5.99€ per bottle of S&C. So over 4 months that was 48€. FoB is SO much better for my hair and only 15€ more. You just pay all in one go rather than monthly! I'm been using it for months and it is THAT good. I wash my hair every 3 days now instead of daily, it's stronger, shinier, and healthier. It's no gimmick, you just have to be honest about your hair type & goals, give it a few washes to get used to product with no sulphates or chemicals, and hey presto: great hair. Also, you must follow the instructions they give you for your hair/type and goals or it's pointless. All the "bad" reviews I've seen of FoB the reviewer never mentions if they followed the advice on *how* to wash their hair, just about the product.... and the usual complaint is just the feeling over the first few washes as it gets rid of all the crappy product we've been building up for years!
Unrelated. But has anybody thought to themselves, "What if all the ingredients in these products are all the same but pretend to be curated to each individual's specific hair needs"?
@@MiliRoy02 My guess is they use a random ingredient for each need. Maybe "scalp stimulation" is tea tree oil, or "deep condition" maybe cocoa butter. They probably increse the concentration of those ingredients based on hair thickness/density/coarsness.
I spent $90 on this stuff. It’s average at best and damaging at worst. The girls that rave about it want to defend their fave celebrities and youtubers. The customer service is appalling and everyone who has used it that I know personally hates it. It caused one of my friend’s hair to fall out, it caused my cousin’s hair to resemble straw, and for me it was just a basic shampoo. My hair did grow with it, and I didn’t experience shedding, but it changed the feel of it and I didn’t enjoy the way my hair felt waxy after. My first few uses, I loved it. Two months later, not so much.
Goodness sounds terrible... I am so sorry that you and your cousin had to go through that.. I feel for you! I am regrowing now.. and its been stressful!
That’s sad, but you also have to remember that hair follicles have a life cycle and hair can fall out because you produce a lot of new hair. You normally shed about 100-150 strands of hair a day
i used their customer service and they did a lot of work to leave me satisfied, and i’ve tried everything under the sun recommended to me for my hair (inc from hairdresser friends and my own hairdresser) and FoB worked best for me, seems to be such a huge variation between people
I put “strengthen” and “soothe scalp” for my hair goals and my hair has been growing thicker and stronger. There’s less hairs falling out than before I was using it
Your using the purple Toning shampoo which is for bleached blonde or grey coloured hair it’s not supposed to be used on brunettes and your only ment to use the shampoo once a week or you will strip all oils out of your hair which will result in your hair falling out . Try the other shampoos the purple shampoo is not for your hair atall it’s for blondes or gray hair types .
As a stylist, I can say I agree that purple shampoo shouldn’t be used daily but it can be used on any hair. While it is used to help tone blondes, I used it every so often during this stay home order solely because I had run out of my other shampoo and wasn’t able to go to the beauty supply store so I had to wait for my order to arrive. It didn’t do anything to my hair except cleanse it. I’ve never heard of anyone losing hair while using purple shampoo and some of my coworkers and their clients use it more than once a week. The only shampoo that should really be stripping oil from your hair is an oil control shampoo or a clarifying shampoo. But also there are people who shampoo their hair daily due to oil and they aren’t losing hair. I’m not sure of the brand you’re speaking of but I wanted to change the narrative on a purple shampoo causing hair loss.
It doesn’t matter if a purple shampoo is being used in a brunette. It still not supposed to cause hair loss, the only difference to be noticed is in the color. Also, if it is too harsh on her hair to be used more than once a week (because of a strong surfactant, for example) the first problem she would notice would be a dry hair, more frizzy even not hair thinning. If someone is experiencing something like that because of any cosmetics than it is probably because something is more serious with the product or she had and allergic reaction.
I had the same experience with hair loss with head and shoulders, my hair got so thin and looked really unhealthy and greasy, i started using the lush shampoo bars! Those are packaging free and truly amazing, my hair looks better than ever and it’s good for the environment :)
I’ve been using FoB for literally a month and I noticed right away I was losing so much more hair. This just confirmed I’m not psyching myself out. Thank you for this review🙏🏻
Omg yes!!!! Thank you for this video!!! I’m glad I’m not the only one,,, something in this product is causing it, my hair used to be sooooo thick and beautiful like it was able to snap those thick black hair ties sometime and it would take my 2 hands to hold my hair but after a while of using this product I didn’t realize how much hair I lost and now it’s reduced to a small circle between my fingers thick or shall I say thin, my hair has been growing thin... I felt so sad so scared it’s definitely the product but I’m hoping soon my hair can grow thick and luscious again. My confidence sank and my anxiety Rose I have never had thin hair nor so little of hair . My hair is my world and I feel it brings so much character to my look
Finally someone talks about this issue. I experienced the same and i was using a different formula to you. I also left my honest opinion on their feedback form. The brand has great marketing but it's not such a great product. I went back to Kerestase which is a brand most hairdressers use and i never had any issue with it. They also have shampoon for oily hair you could try (it was too much for me as my hair was not that oily but it might work for you)
I have never seen your videos before. I found your video suggested by google. I have noticed hair loss. I attributed it to the imbalance of my thyroid and chemo meds to control RA. I am encouraged by your video. I was going to reorder today. I am so glad I saw this. Thank you!
I was about to purchase the function of beauty today because I already suffer from hair loss. But watching this, I can't afford to lose more hair, so thank you. It's a pricey shampoo and conditioner.
So glad I could help! I'm not sure if it causes hair loss for everyone, but for me it did. It's probably a safe bet not to get it if you already struggle with hair loss! I agree, it is pretty pricey!
Jaqalana Gamingly it’s way more than a drugstore. I have ones that are like £5 if that depending on the brand but function of beauty is £40 ish if you get like a really luxury/posh one it tends to be more expensive, but go to Poundland or boots or Superdrug or something it can range between £1 and like maybe even £20+ I guess it depends where you live, I’m not too sure?
MileyObsession96 No its not hunny. Ive purchased it recently and I usually go to the drug store but wanted to treat my hair as I damaged it witb bleach. I have tried alot of products over the years and not many help and claim to do things they just dont. In the drugstores they do charge prices like this for their shampoos, Conditions, leave in condition etc etc. Maybe your thinking about home and bargain? No it will be the same in all boots and Superdrug stores and lush are even more expensive. If your looking for something that wont do anything then yeah sure places like that are great but they also have alot of rubbish in them that will ruin hair eventually. Like I said I needed something better than the ones Ive been trying and the money they charge for function of beauty and that it lasts over 3 months is worth it. If you think about it, It works out the same as a half decent one from the drug store and prob lasts alot less longer
i thought function of beauty was going to be my holy grail product when i can afford it (i only loose 1-5 strands of hair in the shower) thank you for giving an honest review!
It’s probably causes hair loss due to the high silicone content and no sulfates. I personally like silicones but only when you use sulfates as well. If you look at professional shampoos and conditioners you see they contain silicones and sulfates and they are professional grade so that says something. If you don’t use sulfates with silicones they build up on ur scalp and clog your follicles leading to hair loss.
Wow, that makes a lot of sense! I usually try to go for silicone free shampoos and conditioners, but I also don't mind if my shampoos and conditioners contain a little bit of it. Thanks for the info!
Cheers To Theres a box underneath your order when your on the site which you can check so it wont have silicone in it. Ive noticed alot of youtubers have not mentioned this
omg thank you for this comment i had no idea silicone build up on the scalp could cause hair loss (also id /literally/ just put in an order before i saw this video and was panicking so hard, thankfully i picked the silicone free option)
Yep, I also noticed that I lost way more hair using Function of Beauty. I'm glad my little sister told me about your video, I'm going to stop using this ASAP.
This didn’t really happen to me... When I come out of the shower and dry my hair with the towel, I see a lot of strands falling. But when I started to use Function of Beauty, not a single hair strand came off. My hairdresser even said my hair was sooooo healthy. Like the healthiest he has seen out of all of his male patients
i had used function of beauty about a year ago (give or take) and had always noticed/pointed out that i was losing way more hair than normal, but i never knew why until literally right now. i stopped using it for a different reason, but i'm so glad i did stop. i use olaplex's shampoo and conditioner now and it works so well for me, my hair has never been better.
I almost bought function of beauty but ended up going with prose after doing some research. I’m glad I did! Prose is more expensive but it’s soooo worth it. It has really made my hair the best it’s felt and stop breakage
Oh my gosh!!!! Thank you for this!!! I experienced the same thing!!! I had so much hair coming out it was crazy!!! My hair is so soft and shines - but when I use the conditioner it doesn’t soften my hair it really tangles it and I feel like I am pulling out my hair. So crazy!!! I am going to try the shampoo you are using. Thank you so much for sharing this!!!
I keep seeing ads for FoB or more and more people are being sponsored by FoB. To me that says something, if a lot more people are being sponsored by a brand, it starts to feel like they're getting desperate and they know there's a problem but hoping to get someone naive into their reach. Idk that's just me when I see a brand sponsoring too many videos or too many people, especially unrelated people. And then I have a sister who just started selling for Monat, and she didn't try selling to me but she told me she's using it and if I want to try "the price is worth it." But idk, I just like to research everything before I get into it. And found Monat is actually a pyramid scheme. And their price is ridiculous! I do like the fact FoB is so catered to your individualism, like you said. But that's a lot of money for something that could result in hair loss. I can't risk that... What has made my hair thicker and healthier was actually Lush's shampoo in Rehab. I haven't used it for a few years now actually, and I was pacing back and forth between FoB, Monat, and Lush's Wasabi Shan Kui shampoo or their Rehab one. But I think I am just going to stick to Lush. Another thing that has made my hair really strong, thick, and healthier is actually a scoop of collagen in my tea every morning. It's made my nails really strong, and I bit my nails for 24 years. They grow so quick and so strong now. But I appreciate this review being so recent and honest!
It’s good that you did your research about Monat :) not only is it a pyramid scheme, but their products are also just trash! It can make your hair dull and lifeless, and a ton of people have reported major hair loss.
on my dad's side, everyone has like thin hair. on my mom's side, thick straight hair. i turned to Lush products a few years ago and it's made my hair healthier and thicker. my hair grows really quick. an inch a month. i recently started taking collagen too, mostly for my skin and nails, but it made my hair even thicker. my sister on the other hand went the monat route and she has thinner hair than me, so i'm praying she doesnt end up with a bald spot.
omg thank u so much for posting this because I was looking at function of beauty TH-cam videos because I was literally just about to buy function of beauty shampoo and conditioner and I am so glad I haven't purchased it because I really care about my hair because I am a strawberry blonde and I love my hair so thank you so much for stopping me, and watching this video so thank you.HAVE A GREAT DAY!!
I truly recommend you work for trying this product. And suffering for the rest of us that are trying to see which one works with our body our scalp. Your an amazing person❤️🙏🏾😩
Hi thanks for sharing this! I actually one of the unlucky handful that also experienced hair loss, it wasn’t until my family saw how bare my scalp was while on video call and I look back at all my pics and realised the difference! My partner also said I was scratching my hair mad at night and I was having dandruff issues too. I have switched to a derma dandruff shampoo + bought a hair growth toner. I was using my 3 set before noticing it! The team has been very kind enough and refunded me + will be reviewing to make their product better. I hope they do, breaks my heart I feel like they are a small business. Thanks for sharing your experiment really convinced me for my right decision.
I actually bought it because you can customize it yourself. I have 3bc curls and finding the right shampoo or conditioner has been a struggle. Function of beauty actually helps my hair be most hydrate while protecting the color...so no not everyone buys it for looks but for its custom build agenda.
@@melschez7388 i have 3b hair too but i'm still on my hair journey to make my curls look good, what's your experience with function of beauty, what properties do select for your products?
So I’m a hairstylist and I was once considering trying this stuff out to see if it’s good or not but I changed my mind because in regards to salon products, they are often expensive because of 2 things mostly. 1 is brand name which is a given for expenses. But 2 is they will often employ chemists to test the ingredients they plan on using in their formulas to see if they hold up that salon quality standard. So I really appreciated that you decided to make this video to voice your opinion and include visual evidence that it may not be the healthiest choice for your hair.
The problem with this is the fact that hair loss is also impacted by how often you brush your hair. As someone with naturally curly hair when I wear mine naturally I can exactly brush my hair every day or else my hair is going to be messed up. And I'll usually wash my hair on the third day and because I haven't brushed my hair, all of the hair that has detached from my head will be "lost" when I detangle with conditioner. So that could also impact it. Along with the fact you said you wash your hair less often with the function of beauty products, this could also be the difference as water can stimulate hair falling out.
I started using Function of Beauty in December of 2019. I also experienced a lot of hair loss. I thought it was just because I was switching shampoo. So I kept using it, but the hair loss never slowed down. I found that my scalp felt drier and my hair was frizzier even though I was targeting those problems. Also, any sores that I had on my head stung really bad.
I received this as a gift and just tried it for the first time this morning and the same thing happened to me! That’s what led me to TH-cam. You’re not alone!
That's awesome to hear! I know people who have had a wonderful experience and swear by it! It just didn't work for my hair and my hair type. It could have been my formula, but I just decided on stopping because I was just too afraid to suffer more hair loss if I continued with new formulas (hair goals)
Wow that’s crazy.. so sad that had an affect on your hair. I’ve been using function of beauty for 11 months now and I love it. It works so well for me. Just sucks that it doesn’t work well for everyone the same.
how often do you wash your hair with the shampoo and what type of hair do you have? does it still have good effect on you nowadays? because ive been thinking about trying this product but dont know if this suits my hair type..
encrypto_sirius encrypto_sirius I have thin oily hair. I wash my hair every 3 days now. Before it was every 2 days because it would get oily the very next day. I make sure to pump the shampoo into my palms and rub until it starts to lather in my hands before applying it to my hair. I never thought that would make a difference but it does. Also I apply only 1 pump of conditioner to my ends only. After I finish showering I apply some bumble and bumble hair cream on my ends and my hair feels really good and healthy.
I had the same issue: I got my formula 2 weeks ago, my second wash was like a horror story with how much hair was falling out but I figured it had to do with stress or something but it kept happening. I was using a product called ouai that was so amazing, it was just super expensive so I was excited to get something that was quality for less but it’s definitely not worth losing my hair over.
I think so too. I use the dye free and the 100% natural formula and I have had hardly any hair loss. I have always had very healthy hair though, but it is very fine so it would be very noticeable if I lost a large amount.
Does it really help to fix split ends.... because my splits are damn worse ...they are all over my hair... please tell me if this really helps to fix them
@@dazzlinggleam7399 yeah i had this issue a few years ago when i started growing out my bleached hair, it was just snapping off everywhere sometimes like 3,4 snaps up the same hair. all i can really recommend is regular month 1,2cm trims i did find that the f.o.b system with the leave in really helped to hid the issue and soften my hair alot. so it wouldn't feel (sticky/straw) like if i leave it to air dry or on the second day. but i did have a reaction to the fragrance which made my scalp really itchy and i got hair loss. i got a refund and stopped using the shampoo i still use the conditioner but it wont dry the same as it did using the shampoo. for the silky hair i had the nourish roots, replenish hair, deep condition, hydrate and lengthen but you can pick split ends. hair type (straight, fine, dry scalp) i hope this helps i know how frustrating it is. but sometimes its better to just cut it to your ears and start again if its bleach damage. xx
The complete opposite happened for me. Using other products I was losing hair, slow growth, dull colour, irritated scalp etc. Function of beauty fixed all of these.
I checked her formula in the description and she described her hair as COARSE ... Wtf her hair is pin straight, they probably put a strong chemical (like a relaxer type) for coarse hair in her product which ultimately led to her hair loss. It was probably to strong/powerful for her thin hair. She needs to learn her hair type better.
As someone with thick coarse hair, I would not want any type of strong chemical in my hair products tf. If I wanted to relax my hair I would buy a hair relaxer or go to the salon
What could also happen is that your hair needs to switch up every once in a while so function of beauty was probably doing good on its job but like u said u had been using it for about a year if I remember correctly and thats a long time to stick to a shampoo and conditioner.when the bottle runs out buy a different shampoo and conditioner
Thank you so much for bringing this to my attention and others who have been using the Function of Beauty haircare. I have been using it for months and now I can finally understand where the increase of hairloss was coming from. This will save many people so much money $$$ longterm.
I was literally 30 seconds away from purchasing this. I suffer from alopecia areata due to severe anxiety and I don't want to imagine what could have happened to my hair now that is growing back. I really recommend LUSH cosmetics, I have been using them and they are amazing. I really wanted to give this a go because it looked so cool but I am glad I didn't spend my money on them. Going back to lush immediately.
My hair was almost to butt healthy and always been thin. I used this product and lost like four inches and hair fell out like crazy . Hair dead now. Super sad
I use function of beauty and I have crazy hair loss aswell. My hair sheds enough in the shower to cover the entire wall and whilst I’m sleeping I wake up and pull about 10 strands out my bed.
Having Graves Disease, functional beauty has really helped with hair regrowth and hair health. I have never been as happy with a shampoo as I have been with functional beauty. I used to shed clumps of hair with other shampoos but with functional beauty it's like the 3rd pile of hair.
I just bought it and used it tonight and my hair is not oily, it’s smooth, i always lose hair when i wash it because my hair is dense, and FOB makes my hair tangly at first more so than pantene. pantene makes your hair thin though. lol but i so far love it.
But I will monitor because I was thinking of ordering my second order from them soon!! This is the first video I come across with this experience thank you for this
Yeah I didn't realize how much hair I was losing until halfway through my second order.. its not a bad Idea to just be sure and maybe switch to a different shampoo and conditioner for a few weeks and compare the differences? There might not be any and then you're in the clear!! Keep us posted!
I've been using function of beauty for two months, and my hair has been shedding and breaking excessively. I decided to Google hair loss and function of beauty and it brought me here. I'm glad I now know the cause of my hair loss, this gives me peace of mind. Thank you for your video!
My hair is so thick and curly, detangling, sometimes having to snip knots out in the past, I lose a ton. I joke I leave most showers with a pet. Yet better products (NOT FB) I seem to lose less, but it comes out more easily. So I'm losing some, but my hair is currently getting longer and softer and is still insanely thick after a couple of months change. It's not cheap, so I was looking at FB, but it's not cheap either. I've read that if you deal with tangles like my hair, that actually getting good slip, a lot of hair you didn't know was broken can get brushed out finally. So my first use of a product more catered to me, I was scared. You are the second video I've come across, maybe that comment saw the same thing, addressing breakage or hair loss from FB. This concept makes me fear trying new products, but my personal change also makes me not want to relapse into my old decent products where I'm spending almost an hour thoroughly detangling.
Sending mine back. Just received it in the mail and this pops up on TH-cam to watch. Wish I came across this sooner. I haven’t used it yet. Just got it in the mail.
Function of Beauty SUCKS!! It made my hair fall out a lot! A ton! Like my shower gets clogged with just my hair, I’m the only one who uses my shower. Looks like I pulled a rat out of my drain, every week! I used to have really thick hair and now it’s incredibly thin. It’s horrible. I contacted function of beauty and told them the problem and their solution was to order a new formula and pay for it too!! What?! No. Never again. I’ll tell anyone who will listen not to use that garbage.
Oh no.. I am so sorry for your bad experience with them.. :/ that's really frustrating. I was experiencing the same thing though with the amount of hair loss I had using Function of Beauty. I am so glad I stopped because my hair was getting soooo thinned out. I didn't contact the company like you did so I am not sure how they would have responded to me. I just cancelled my order and went my separate way. I feel for you though! I am so frustrated with my hair loss as well. We will regrow though! :)
I had the same experience. :( My hair fell slowly, I noticed only after 8 months I think (mine was always thin and still is) I went back to my Calia natural shampoo and OMG, no joke in 3 weeks I noticed my hair coming back. I took pictures of before and after on purpose because I wasn’t even sure if it was from that.
THANK YOU! I was seriously considering buying this shampoo & conditioner.. Your hair goals & type are very similar to mine! So I assume I would have had the same thing happen to me.. And I've been struggling with hair loss! I appreciate this video, and will be looking out for the tea tree shampoo you mentioned!
I just bought the product. I've only used it once so far and it seems okay atm Edit: I can't tell if I lose hair or not because I usually lose quite a bit of hair anyway but I'll be sure to be careful
I have never experienced hair loss from function of beauty, but i did start noticing it wasnt really cleaning my hair it would leave this oily residue after my shower so I stopped used it on my head and using the last of it as shaving cream
OMG I came across this by accident. I thought that I was losing more hair because of quarantine, my hair is much longer than usual. I have a very oily scalp too and our formulas are very similar. I had no idea!! This is crazy!! I’m gonna test it out too and see what happens
Anna Mantegna me too omg very oily scalp for me too i have no clue how to get rid of it:( i just ordered this today before watching reviews :( hopefully it works for me
Lisa Gandolfo I’m wondering if that is what’s behind the hair loss honestly. I’d be curious to know out of all the people who have noticed losing more hair than usual, what are the common denominators. So far, that’s the one thing that’s standing out to me. I used a different shampoo and conditioner and she’s right. I went back to Function and I’m waiting to see. So far, I’m not happy about what’s happening. As for the oily scalp, I’m thinking the same thing that applies to face applies to scalp. If you over cleanse and you use products to dry your skin out, what happens? Your body starts pumping it out even more. The key is to balance it and help reduce the sebum production. I think whatever the ingredient is that is meant for oily scalp, is over drying our skin. Sorry so long but just wanted to let you know what I’ve noticed. It sucks because I love everything else about it.
This was so helpful, especially wiht the pics! I just started using function of beauty and was so excited, but I have noticed the same problem. My hair is falling out in even larger amounts than yours and this is with only about 3 washes so far. My hair is wavy, medium for reference
Function of Beauty was amazing at first. My hair was the healthiest it’s ever been. When I bought my second bottle I got a different blend. I did start to notice big clumps in the drain. I figured it was because I got my 2nd bottle in the summer and it was winter when the drain build up started. Summer and winter hair is different due to temperature. My bottle had oil control but the oil was bad in the winter due to the oil control and the dry cold weather drying out my scalp so my head produces more oil to built moisture. I started using an aloe Vera shampoo and conditioner to add hydration (didn’t check off hydration for my bottle) my hair is so much softer. I also had an oil clump on the top back of my head after showering. I used the recommended amount of product. While using function of beauty I also noticed my new black brush bristles had dandruff caking to it making it gross to use my brush. Love the brand but it’s gone down hill a bit for me. I probably made the wrong formula and it’s too expensive for me to keep changing it
I just wanted to comment on my experience with Function of Beauty because I think it is different for everyone. With every shampoo and conditioner I've tried, I always lost sooo much hair in the shower. I have really thick hair so it doesn't feel any different on my head but I still didn't want to lose enormous amounts of hair in the shower. Roughly two to three months ago, I switched to Function of Beauty and I have been using it frequently, I have little to no hair loss in the shower. It's a tremendous difference and I do not plan on not using this. I still do lose a lot of hair when I brush it but it is not nearly as much as before.
Yeram (Olive) Choi i don’t mind at all! The profile I currently have on their is oily, coarse, and wavy hair. My hair goals are color protection, lengthen, oil control, thermal protection, and straighten. I will say that the oil control definitely works. I do have to adjust it though because my hair is a bit too dry. The product lasts a very long time. I got my first order at the end of March and I’m only just starting to get to the bottom of it. I wash my hair every other day and my hair is very long and very thick
I thought the hair loss was just me! I am used to using oribe products so when I came across FOB I was excited because the price was more affordable. But I’ve noticed my hair condition has gotten worse. And I felt like I was losing more hair than usual and my hair is more coarse. It seemed to be awesome for everyone else so I really wanted it to work. But seeing this video made me realize it wasn’t just me. Thank you!
I just took a look at your function of beauty quiz and you have inputted something wrong. You put course hair but your hair is thin. I know your talking about hair loss but you haven’t used it for a while now as your using something else? But again this goes on your hair strands and I can tell by looking at your hair that its not thick. You would of needed to put fine hair. Even that can make a huge difference since its catered for you. Also yes your hair is a different texture but I think the course means thick. I think they should better name that one personally. Im still waiting for mine
Coarse hair does not mean think hair. Coarse is a texture. You can have fine, coarse hair. Our you can have thick coarse hair. Our you can a lottttt of fine hair. Coarse and fine define the individual strand of hair.
@@allyhormann8074 You can have coarse hair without it being thick. The strands are thick..but there isn't a lot of them. You can only tell that someone has coarse hair if you touch a single strand of hair. Seems to me like she has coarse strands and thin hair as a whole... If she is saying she has coarse hair.
Also. You can have thick fine hair. I have very fine strands but a lot of them! Fine/coarse are sizes of the hair strand. Thin/Thick are the amount of hair you have on your whole head. Hope this helps.
When using the green shampoo did you still only wash your hair every fourth day or did you start using it everyday/every other day? Because losing more hair when having more days between washing can be pretty common. Also, would love to see a link for that korean shampoo!
I continued to use it every 4 days! I should have been more clear in my video! My apologies!! I wanted to keep the test consistent with the amount of days that passed by between washes! Also I put some links in the video description if you want to check them out!
I so wanted to love this! My hair felt really clean and smelled amazing. I gave it a few months and while at first I noticed some mild to moderate hair loss, the amount of hair I loss each time started to increase with each wash. I normally wash my hair every 2-3 days. And it wasn’t just when I washed my hair. When I pull clothes out of the dryer there are clumps of blond hair stuck in the lint trap. I know it’s mine as my husband and son have Orange, not red, hair. I decided to stop using it about a month ago. I went to get my hair cut and colored by the same girl who has been cutting my hair for years and she started separating my hair to color and she said “Omg what happened to your hair?” I know a few people who use it and love it but I am not one of them. I have switched back to my regular shampoo and conditioner and my excessive hair loss has stopped. There is still hair in the shower but it is what I consider a normal amount. Thanks for your honest review
It's 8 months later and I'm glad I found this. I ordered function of beauty because it's sulfate free and I have curly hair. Trying to heal my hair too, I am about half way through my first order and I have noticed Soo much hair in my shower and brush after I wash it. My husband and I were talking lastnight about how am I not bald with how much hair comes out. Time to switch!!
I used it and I didn’t experience any super bad or damaging results, but I also didn’t experience any super great results. To me it was just run of the mill shampoo/conditioner so not worth the price. But it might work better for different hair types, I have curly hair.
Although I know everyone is different, I am glad this video popped into my feed regardless. I had wanted to try Function of Beauty for the longest but this really made me rethink. Best of luck in your hair health!
Brittney Pack ive been using it for almost a year now. Ive never experienced anything negative while using function. My hair got better. Thats just what happened personally.
Just keep an eye out and really monitor your hair loss or non-hair loss. If I learned anything, it's that it's okay to switch back to something else to test it out. I don't think hair loss happens to everyone who uses FOB but its worth it to keep an eye out just in case!
Thank you so much for sharing your experience on this!!! I almost bought some of their products but now I’m staying away. I already dealt with Devacurl and hair loss, I’m not trying anything like that again.
I've been using function of beauty for 4 months now and i love how my hair feels. I have noticed that it is growing faster. My hair is bleached so it is dry but after using it the texture of my hair has improved greatly
I tried it 3 years ago and had a lot more than my normal hair loss. I don't know what would cause it and I did tell the company and they were responsive, but did not know why. I asked if it could be the formula and if I changed maybe it would work better but they had no new suggestions. I do have a lot of allergies though, but I don't remember getting rashes or anything. I wish it worked out for me because it was less expensive than what I use (Aveda color conserve and scalp benefits conditioner) and the scents are amazing.
I wanted to share that I left a very unfavorable review with Function of Beauty because of the horrible tangling and my hair loss. They completely refunded my entire purchase amount of $87 I purchased the shampoo, conditioner, leave in conditioner and mask. I literally stopped using it after I watched your review. I went to Walmart and picked up my trusted Pantene shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair (less than $6 for both) and my hair loss is a third of the handful that was coming out before. I am an RN and I understand normal hair loss with change of season, hormone changes etc. etc. but the hair I was losing as soon as I started this product was nuts!!! I couldn’t get a comb through my hair - it was so bad. Impressed that they listened to my complaint and gave me a full refund. Just be careful ladies.
I think everyone’s experience is different. I have been using Function of Beauty for over a year now and I can really say that my hair looked more alive than it was a year ago. My hair is so much smoother (like finger comb smooth!), shinier and definitely looks healthier.
I am sure there are lots of people who have wonderful experiences! Like I said in the video I absolutely love their customer service and everything. I love the company as a whole. It's just that the product didn't work for me and I am just so bummed out. Now I have to really really take care of my hair to make sure it all grows back. I am glad I could help!
Wow thank you so much ! I was on the website taking the quiz to get it and the reason I was going to buy it was because I already was having hair loss and if I end up not liking it I would be so upset if I stopped using it and my girl kept falling out !
i think you need to use it with the shampoo and right amount of product should put on. I have been using almost an year, to be honest the blogger she is saying is strange, because if you really choose what is your hair goal it does kinda give result plus considering long term hair goal I am pretty satisfied with this brand. I have a thin, strangely wavy hair and i live in very humid country. Also used to have so much hair loss when i wake up in the morning my pillow all got hair. I have been switching my goals in every order but always keep anti-freeze and strengthen in my ingredients to make sure i don't loose my hair. As i can notice from your video you do have fine hair and i think you should have tried different goals.
I change shampoo brands every time I buy a new bottle. I think changing helps keep the hair clean that’s just what I like. Xoxo thank you for your video. I was thinking of trying this brand
Ive used them for 10 months now. Ive only used about one and a half blottle, so it last a long time. Ive personally never had better hair or scalp. My hair is supersoft and light. And my scalp is waaay better, because before I had dandruff and was itching a lot. Now, theres none of it. So I really like it.
causing hair loss? i wanted to buy it because of how different my hair was with other people. i’ve lost enough hair already, i don’t need to lose it even more.
Jeez, Divacurl, Wen, and now function of beauty are all causing hair loss?? Welp, good thing I’m poor and can’t afford any of them.
Function of beauty is not causing hairloss it’s just speeding up the process of new hair growing in and you shedding hair faster.
Nicole Skorupsky well that’s tbd. Who knows, it might actually be causing hair loss. You have a theory but either way I’m skeptical.
I remember wanting so badly to buy Wen & Devacurl but ya girl broke af
So now I'm sooooo thankful I couldn't 😭
I think for function of beauty it’s only her
Sama Dadash How, that’s rude. How is it only her, when she was notified by a fan’s comment. Please use your brains before commenting. There are many people out there that are more prone to hair loss and she is doing a favor to those people that are like her.
thanks for saving me money, I was gonna buy it, but I take my hair care serious so I needed to see reviews on this product.
Yeah, I always thought about it but I’m black with kinky hair
And all the other people were just sponsors and I know for a fact they don’t actually use it 🙄
@@gabb5 my friend used it hahaha and she has a channel xddd but she was sponsored too so...
I use it and I love it and it doesn’t work for everyone
I think everyone experiences are different because everyone’s bodies are different. I’ve used function of beauty for awhile now and my hair has grown 3-4 inches and healthier than its ever been. But like I said everyone’s bodies are different and will react differently.
You probably weren't using good products before. so using products that are _kinda_ better helped your hair, but, it's still probably not best for your hair.
I use this shampoo and mine has been working really good and I used hair salon shampoos before, I always have a lot of hair fall out for years I also I have a lot of hair too haha
K Armstrong I think you’re right! But hey it’s working for now. That’s all I care about.
Maria Nunez glad it’s not just me! Lol. But hey we like it and that’s all the matters!
@@marn8900 some professional brands still have bad ingredients. don't trust branding, lol.
I’m to broke for hair products so I just stick to that 1.50 shampoo
@@KaynadianGinger sounds like the biggest cause may have been stress, it can definitely make you lose hair.
I think she also mentioned she wasn’t washing her hair as often when she was using those products. That’s probably got something to do with it.
This is what I exactly want to say ....yeah some product doesn't suitable for all ..so ..it's better to taking reviews from all and have a try .even I am pretty excited to try this
Now i better get back to my head and shoulders.
I was looking into trying them awhile ago but I spent my money on chipotle instead, now I’m glad I did lmao
mood
That’s super interesting to watch, because I used to lose a lot of hair before I started using Function of Beauty, now that I’m using it, my hair is growing healthier and I’m not losing as much as before. I wonder why there’s drastic differences in our experiences
Yeah same, this brand fixed my deva damage
I also have experienced less hair loss since using Function of Beauty
It depends how you customize it ig
Because people are all drastically different (which is the point of this brand) what works for some may not for others.
I lose hair like crazy. I hope when I get my bottles they help :)
That makes sense the build up would eventually break the hair, ugh idk if my hair just freaks out 😂 but I lose so much hair, I'm almost out of shampoo and conditioner I've been using Maui Moisture which makes my hair feel great but yeah my hair is all over the house so I might give not your mothers a go
my mum uses silicone free shampoos and there’s so much hair left in the bath afterwards lol
I was alarmed and turned off when I saw the price
The price really isn’t that bad when you compare it to products meant to do the same like Olaplex, Briogeo, Aveda, Keratese, etc.
I have always that about that. Like you wouldn't even know.
@@MiliRoy02 My guess is they use a random ingredient for each need. Maybe "scalp stimulation" is tea tree oil, or "deep condition" maybe cocoa butter. They probably increse the concentration of those ingredients based on hair thickness/density/coarsness.
@@rainydaze1502 Yes makes a lot of sense !!
They give you a list of the ingredients when you order
Also that would be SUPER illegal
That’s how I feel. It kept getting worse as I continued using. I ended up losing chunks of my hair
That’s sad, but you also have to remember that hair follicles have a life cycle and hair can fall out because you produce a lot of new hair. You normally shed about 100-150 strands of hair a day
i used their customer service and they did a lot of work to leave me satisfied, and i’ve tried everything under the sun recommended to me for my hair (inc from hairdresser friends and my own hairdresser) and FoB worked best for me, seems to be such a huge variation between people
@@cheersto1770 it is stressful, but you’ll make it! It’s been a pain to get my hair back to normal but it’s getting there
I put “strengthen” and “soothe scalp” for my hair goals and my hair has been growing thicker and stronger.
Thanks for the suggestion!
Isn’t that just the color you choose with fob??
It doesn’t matter if a purple shampoo is being used in a brunette. It still not supposed to cause hair loss, the only difference to be noticed is in the color. Also, if it is too harsh on her hair to be used more than once a week (because of a strong surfactant, for example) the first problem she would notice would be a dry hair, more frizzy even not hair thinning. If someone is experiencing something like that because of any cosmetics than it is probably because something is more serious with the product or she had and allergic reaction.
This purple shampoo is not formulated for bleached hair - the website says that it's just a fun color!
Same!
Same
Girl we need more honest genuine people like you ! Saved me so much money
Cheers To Not as pricey as most drug store brands though
Jeannie Bangtan you lieeee
i thought function of beauty was going to be my holy grail product when i can afford it (i only loose 1-5 strands of hair in the shower)
thank you for giving an honest review!
Cheers To function of beauty now has silicon free option!!
Havy Air When I ordered mine today, I checked the no silicone box as its rubbish for your hair
I'm glad my little sister told me about your video, I'm going to stop using this ASAP.
ive been losing clumps of hair after 3 months of use. I don't know if it's a coincidence or not
sis its normal to loose hair just not a lot.
@@denyelei7321 yeah shedding is normal. not clumps
This product may not be for some people.
What did you put as ur 5 hair goals!?
Yes I think the 5 goals has everything to do with it. Which 5 did you choose?
@@deybialdana5008 I just choose the ones with the most hydrations: Deep Condition, Hydrate, Nourish Roots, Replenish Hair, and Soothe Scalp
@@e11eohe11e I just choose the ones with the most hydrations: Deep Condition, Hydrate, Nourish Roots, Replenish Hair, and Soothe Scalp
i had used function of beauty about a year ago (give or take) and had always noticed/pointed out that i was losing way more hair than normal, but i never knew why until literally right now. i stopped using it for a different reason, but i'm so glad i did stop. i use olaplex's shampoo and conditioner now and it works so well for me, my hair has never been better.
You are so welcome! Glad I could help!
Aww thank you so much for taking the time to watch it! I appreciate you!!
They buy for the trends and the looks of the bottle
That’s exactly why I’m buying ngl they are smart for that
The packaging looks ugly imo, it looks cheap
I actually bought it because you can customize it yourself. I have 3bc curls and finding the right shampoo or conditioner has been a struggle. Function of beauty actually helps my hair be most hydrate while protecting the color...so no not everyone buys it for looks but for its custom build agenda.
@@melschez7388 i have 3b hair too but i'm still on my hair journey to make my curls look good, what's your experience with function of beauty, what properties do select for your products?
I dont buy them for packing or trend... Ive been using them almost 5 years now 😂
I think they have a really good concept but the results you ultimately choose during the quiz doesn't project onto the hair in my opinion
Do you recommend it for curly hair?
I started using Function of Beauty in December of 2019. I also experienced a lot of hair loss. I thought it was just because I was switching shampoo. So I kept using it, but the hair loss never slowed down. I found that my scalp felt drier and my hair was frizzier even though I was targeting those problems. Also, any sores that I had on my head stung really bad.
I received this as a gift and just tried it for the first time this morning and the same thing happened to me! That’s what led me to TH-cam. You’re not alone!
I have been using function of beauty shampoo and conditioner and their hair serum and it’s worked great for me ?? I use it 3 times a week
@@chachisweetie91 thanks for sharing and replying! Hope it works on me too
I had the same issue: I got my formula 2 weeks ago, my second wash was like a horror story with how much hair was falling out but I figured it had to do with stress or something but it kept happening. I was using a product called ouai that was so amazing, it was just super expensive so I was excited to get something that was quality for less but it’s definitely not worth losing my hair over.
It’s the dye in Function of Beauty. Choose dye free and it won’t happen.
I think so too. I use the dye free and the 100% natural formula and I have had hardly any hair loss. I have always had very healthy hair though, but it is very fine so it would be very noticeable if I lost a large amount.
Does it really help to fix split ends.... because my splits are damn worse ...they are all over my hair... please tell me if this really helps to fix them
dazzling gleam you can’t actually fix split ends. You just have to cut them off
dazzling gleam Cut them it’s the only way and it’ll help ur hair be healthier
Her hair looks also kind of thin, especially the colored ends! So that seems like a plausible cause
Asian hair is coarse and thick
As someone with thick coarse hair, I would not want any type of strong chemical in my hair products tf. If I wanted to relax my hair I would buy a hair relaxer or go to the salon
mar99kt no? Just saying that in general
she has thick hair. hair can be coarse and straight. get ur facts right.
Super sad
Lawyer up
I use function of beauty and I have crazy hair loss aswell. My hair sheds enough in the shower to cover the entire wall and whilst I’m sleeping I wake up and pull about 10 strands out my bed.
Oh no! I had a very similar experience.. sorry you have to deal with that! I feel for you!
The picture you showed is what I lose every time I wash my hair. But then again my hair is curly, thick, and I’m in water sports.
Thank you for sharing this experience. I was considering making my first order today and came across this video.
Same my thick virgin hair got destroyed. My shower gets clogged too I’m so sad
I appreciate this video, and will be looking out for the tea tree shampoo you mentioned!
damn i'm so glad this came up in my recommended. thank you girl! hope your hair growth journey is quick
Thanks so much for sharing. Very thoughtful and kind review.
I just bought the product. I've only used it once so far and it seems okay atm
Edit: I can't tell if I lose hair or not because I usually lose quite a bit of hair anyway but I'll be sure to be careful
I have never experienced hair loss from function of beauty, but i did start noticing it wasnt really cleaning my hair it would leave this oily residue after my shower so I stopped used it on my head and using the last of it as shaving cream
I had some hair loss before, but after using this product I'm noticing that my hair loss has increase enormously.
You're losing more hair with function of beauty?
I’ve used this for over a year and love it!!
Anna Mantegna i totally agree
I probably made the wrong formula and it’s too expensive for me to keep changing it
Oh no! I am sorry to hear that! I hope you find something that works for you! We will regrow!
Came to this video right before clicking to confirm my order! Thank you omg
Thank you!
What formulation and scent did you pick?
Sophia Larkin hair condition: straight, medium, normal. Deep condition, antifrizz, strengthen. No color, no fragrance
Do they make you put up pictures? Cus that would help the professionals to really formulate something for someone’s hair
Gabby they do not make you put pic
Same, was gonna buy. Watching this changed my mind. Thank You Girl! ❤️
Well... Mine just came in the mail and I actually really like it 😂😂😢😢😢💕
It's 8 months later and I'm glad I found this.
Thank you so much!!!
I just got my function of beauty package today and now I’m kind of scared to try it
Brittney Pack ive been using it for almost a year now. Ive never experienced anything negative while using function. My hair got better. Thats just what happened personally.
I just placed my order and I’m scared too
Just keep an eye out and really monitor your hair loss or non-hair loss. If I learned anything, it's that it's okay to switch back to something else to test it out. I don't think hair loss happens to everyone who uses FOB but its worth it to keep an eye out just in case!
Brittney Pack I ordered it today 😑
Juana Maldonado email them for a refund sis
I can't even buy this on my country but still wanted to watch
I experienced hair loss too was actually quite worrying. They refund me straight away
I’m on my second order as well and have noticed my hair falling out too. I loved it at first but the hair loss is just so much.
me too:(
I know that this video about it and I’m using this and I’m fine and that I don’t have a loss of hair, it might also be what you picked
I think everyone’s experience is different. I have been using Function of Beauty for over a year now and I can really say that my hair looked more alive than it was a year ago. My hair is so much smoother (like finger comb smooth!), shinier and definitely looks healthier.
OMG me and my friends were talking abt to getting it thanks for telling me I serisouly hate hair loss I long Having healthy long hair
glad I could help! I'm sure it doesn't cause hairless for everyone, but from my experience it did.. Glad you guys are being cautious!
im having the same issue and i feel the same as you so sad to cancel but hope they can resolve this
Thank you so much! I was interested in it, now I am not.
I was just thinking about how all the function of beauty recommendations are all sponsored.
Jesus, I actually wanted to buy it since good hair products are EXPENSIVE here, but you saved me soooo much money.
hair loss may be from the fragrance. the chemicals in it can be super damaging
Thanks for the recommendations. I think I am going to take a break form it for now, but maybe try again in the future.
Hello that hair loss seems to be great. I love to use black African soap it works great
I change shampoo brands every time I buy a new bottle.
Wow Im thinking of buying this cause my hair is thinning and dry hoping this brand will help me out. Thankgoodness I clicked on your video!!!!
