@@rosiet253 Well, let me think back to my original order. I was wanting a formula that addressed more volume, shine, deep conditioning, growth, frizz control. Based on my description above of what my hair used to be they formulated a good hair regime for me. I definitely recommend this company.
I have the products from Target. They were great at first and I was really impressed. However, after a month or so, my hair was looking dull. I think that's because at home we don't have the equipment to thoroughly mix the products like they do at the manufacturer. When the bottles I have now run out, I will order from the site so I can compare the difference. A definite positive, while they seem pricey, you don't need much. I've had mine for 2 or 3 months and I'm still not finished, and I'm a daily hair washer.
I wanted to try this brand, stood in front of the display at Target for a bit, then thought, washing my hair shouldn’t be this complicated. I love the concept, but this is too decision fatigue inducing for me.
If you check out reviews on Any shampoo/conditioner, youll see people say this about that product. I did lose hair on Wen, but I later realized that wen doesn't use any soap cleansers and they failed to tell us to use a clarifying shampoo to remove excess buildup which can cause hair loss. She mentioned that the surfactant was very gentle on FB so im assuming same concept and can be avoided by clarifying shampoo once or twice a week?
mine did and i used to use crazy products before which bad ingrediants and nothing happened before. I used FOB and my hair has literally fallen in huge chunks!!
I did have about 3 times the normal amount of hair fall out when I tried it. I had it shipped to me based on my specifications for hair type. When this happened it scared me. I wrote the company and they refunded my money.
I ordered it twice already and nothing bad has happened, I really like it! Maybe there’s something in the formulas the people whose hair fell out were allergic to :(
I purchased from the company. After a couple months the shampoo ingredients wanted to separate. Thank goodness it’s in a clear bottle or I wouldn’t had known to shake it up.
Dr. Dray: thank you, thank you for detailed information (as always!). It is so helpful when trying to navigate the whole, “What can I use that won’t throw my scalp and/or skin into a full blown reactive state???” Helpful! So helpful! Thank you! ❤️
I love that their products are vegan and cruelty-free. Unfortunatly the online dye free and fragrance free shampoo and conditioner caused a lot of itch on my scalp. Don't know why!
I bought and have already used up the straight hair set with 2 booster shots: shine and anti frizz. The anti frizz was ok , I wasn’t a fan of the fragrance but the shine was awesome! I go back and forth with other shampoo products but FOB always gave me the best shine. I wonder if I could use the shine booster shots in other shampoos🤔
When I was at Target they were sold out of the shampoo for my hair. Instead I bought a conditioner for my wavey hair and a different conditioner theirs (coily) for my beard that falls below my waist. Then, I split the booster shots between the two conditioners. How acceptable is this?

Hi ! I hope you can answer this for me … I hear that you shouldn’t mix a vitamin c serum with any bar soaps or any soap based cleanser due to the ph levels of the products and what soap does to vitamin c in lowering the effect of it … I use the cetaphil gentle cleansing bar to wash my face … The brand says that this bar is “soap free” but is it considered a “soap based” product ? I know it’s a bit of a silly question but i was hopping you could clarify this for me … Thank you so much !
Yes I did Jod3lay. So many people having trouble with hair loss I decided not to buy FOB. I searched "reviews Function of Beauty". Don't know what the problem is. Dr. Dray loves it, but other people hate it.
Every freaking shampoo has gone through these claims of “hair loss” when launched. Wen, Pantene, Tresemme, Monat. It’s not the products in general. It’s how your body reacts to an ingredient. What works for one may not work for others. Plus there’s also people out there trying to make a quick buck.
Thank you Dr. Dray. I was trying to buy it directly in their website. But I never got the option to choose my own ingredients. So, I don't get it then. So instead I decided to buy it from Target and be positive about it, that these hair products will be the ones SAVING MY HAIR ONCE and FOR ALL. Thank you for your video. 👍🥰🌺
i recommend trying yhe wavy one and seeing your hair natural, my sister got the curly one and it makes her curls look good without any effort or styling!
What I have read on the reviews and seen on reviews is that when they stop using the product, their hair started falling off !!!! So I didn’t place my order at the end 😭
I really wanted to love Function of Beauty but it wasn’t for me, hair fallout and extremely dry, brittle hair 🙁I tried both the target and the online versions
That’s funny. I’m from New England ( Boston ) and I’m waiting for the border to open up too. My sister is in British Columbia. I wonder which one of us gets to our destination first ! 🤣🤣
From her video in ingredients: Surfactants dissolve dirt and oils and are used in cleansers. They also make things feel slippery and glide on easily. The MI is a preservative like phenoxyethanol that's used now or parabens.
Happy Thursday Dr. Dray! I currently use the Cerave moisturizing cream but I notice I have some dark spots from mosquitoes do you think that I should also buy La Roche Posay Lipikar balm for the niacinamide
I like to get inky list alpha arbuten idk if I spelled it right but it takes long consistent use to work. It dosent really irritate my skin and it gets along well with other products I use!

I bought these last year and it gave me the worst allergic reaction on my forehead! I kept using it hoping it would go again but then it just got really bad
Hi Dr. Dray! You said you like silicones in your hair care products. Are you using a deep cleansing shampoo from time to time to wash them out? or not? Hugs from Germany
Hello, Dr. Dray! Thank you for all you do for us! My skin is incredible since I’ve been an avid viewer. You looked so cute with your photo shoot the other day. I love Function of Beauty! Smells amazing and my hair feels and smells great. 💕 I do not use the pumps that come with them, as they cannot be recycled. It would be a great option if we choose to receive the pumps or opt out. 😊
I’ve been wanting to try this forever but the only item I can choose to leave out of my formula (silicones) is one I need. I cannot see how I might leave out oils. Oils make my scalp itch like mad. I may call the customer service line and ask about this as I’d really love to try!
@@imawakemymindisalive13 I do use silicones, almost every day. It’s all that will keep my hair from frizzing even though my hair is fine! Oils however make my scalp itch. Terribly.
I've been wanting this! I just finished my bottles of the straight hair and it was fine but I'm looking forward to watching this 😊 I saw a tiktok where someone reviewed just the ingredients and they said it was okay, but I'm pretty sure they weren't a dermatologist

@@db-gb5xi I’ve seen fruit extracts before and I’m sure some have fragrance but I feel like I’ve seen some fragrance free options or some with a nice ingredient list. Idk though that’s why I’m asking for her opinion.
I wish Function of Beauty had a fragrance free conditioner without argan oil in it. I am allergic to this oil and it's in literally every combination I have tried for hair type and goal on their website. The target base conditioner does not have argan oil, but it does have fragrance.
I've been using Function of Beauty for over a year and really love that I can get such great quality in products with a fragrance-free option. Lots of unscented products that are gentle aren't as effective. I alternate between the dye-free shampoo and the purple shampoo that combats brassiness. Both shampoos and their conditioner rival some of the most expensive stuff I've used. And they last FOREVER because they're highly concentrated.
I went on the website and customized my products the way I wanted them. However, whenever I was about to pay, I clicked on my item when it says "view all formula" to see if it was correct, and it never matched my choices 😕
If one wants to incorporate two or even three kinds of cleansers into one's routine, is there any reason not to make a kind of cleanser "cocktail"...beyond the usual cautions concerning dryness and irritation, of course.
So ngl I did a FoB quiz and bought the shampoo and conditioner. Unfortunately it’s not worth it :/. I understand that certain hair products might not work for me but they work well for other people! But considering I did a hair type quiz and was transparent with what I wanted, I figured it would have worked better. My hair wasn’t falling out more, but my wavy hair became brittle, frizzy and so dry when what I asked for in the quiz was to reduce frizz and moisturize. It’s a good idea but honestly wasn’t worth the money to try out.
The target one is 11oz and the online is 16oz, so the actual full set would be $38 (target) compared to $49 (online, $39 with your link =)). Some reviews mentioned that the ingredients of booster shots are different between target and online, but I don't know how different they are exactly.
You got me onto FOB ages ago and it’s really good, especially since I have several fragrance allergies confirmed by patch testing🤙. 90% of fragrance free haircare products that I’ve tried are trash and end up in the trash😅
I've been using Function of Beauty on your recommendation Dr Dray and love it. I love plain natural colours so the dye free option looks so great in my bathroom. I'm due for some more and I only just realised that the rejuvenate option has salicylic acid so I'm excited to try it. Your haircare tips have saved my hair so much. I never before in my life considered washing my straight oily hair daily, and it's honestly been the best thing I've ever done for my hair. It's day 1 hair - soft, shiny and clean - every day! I might get an oily day every once in a while and then I know it's time to use my clarifying shampoo. I can get away with daily washing by avoiding blow drying - so thanks for that - not only is it no longer oily, but I don't have to blow dry either 🙌 When I started washing daily it was still oily - then I realised every once in a while I need to wash the ends of my hair as well as the roots. I had been washing just my scalp for so long, there was so much buildup on the rest of my hair. Now I will maybe once or twice a week also wash the ends.

I use moo goo shampoo & conditioner
Thanks for sharing!!
Anyone heard about these rumors that FOB would cause hair loss?
Yes I did Jod3lay. So many people having trouble with hair loss I decided not to buy FOB. I searched "reviews Function of Beauty". Don't know what the problem is. Dr. Dray loves it, but other people hate it.
Every freaking shampoo has gone through these claims of “hair loss” when launched. Wen, Pantene, Tresemme, Monat. It’s not the products in general. It’s how your body reacts to an ingredient. What works for one may not work for others. Plus there’s also people out there trying to make a quick buck.
Yeah, I should have watched the video til the end before I ordered my Function of Beauty! lol
I am now convinced that I will try out FOB. Thx Dr. Dray!😍✨💜
Update: I did and I'm loving it so far
Thank you for the compare and contrast of the products. I've been wondering about this since I saw Function of Beauty products in the store.
How about the Function of Beauty face&body care line? I love their hair care line but don’t know if I should try out the other ones from them.
I'm not sure which one to try from Target because my natural texture is wavy, but I like to straighten my hair.
i recommend trying yhe wavy one and seeing your hair natural, my sister got the curly one and it makes her curls look good without any effort or styling!
@@imawakemymindisalive13 Okay! Thanks!
What I have read on the reviews and seen on reviews is that when they stop using the product, their hair started falling off !!!! So I didn’t place my order at the end 😭
Yikes 😬
Not true
Hi Dr Dray. I was wondering if you could tell us your thoughts about people loosing their hair with FOB? Thanks!
I really wanted to love Function of Beauty but it wasn’t for me, hair fallout and extremely dry, brittle hair 🙁I tried both the target and the online versions
Fingers crossed that my husband and I will be able to travel to New England this fall to visit with friends and stop into Target and Trader Joe's 😊🍁
New England is gorgeous in the Fall
@@DrDrayzday hopefully the border will open by September🤞
I live in NE, precisely, Cape Cod, and now we have a Target here too very close to TJ’s 😄👍💯😻
@@smoklhoe can't wait to visit!!!😎
That’s funny. I’m from New England ( Boston ) and I’m waiting for the border to open up too. My sister is in British Columbia. I wonder which one of us gets to our destination first ! 🤣🤣
Is the surfactant the same as the "MI" you always say to avoid??
From her video in ingredients: Surfactants dissolve dirt and oils and are used in cleansers. They also make things feel slippery and glide on easily. The MI is a preservative like phenoxyethanol that's used now or parabens.
there is no MI in their products
What is MI short for?
@@elizabethgoltiao6507 Methylisothiazolinone.
Dr Dray, could you review best shampoos for gray hair? Thank you
Limonene and linalool are in their fragrance free option. Had to get a refund, as I have fragrance allergy
Ah, so sorry. 😕 Not a fan of the label ‘fragrance free’ when there are ingredients such as limonene, linalool, bisabolol and the like… feels deceptive to me. 🤷🏻♀️ Hope you find something that you and your locks love!
@@teresa2339 they gave me a full refund, but I was really disappointed. I used them not realize until the inevitable allergic reaction. Disappointing as otherwise the products are lovely
They lost me when I looked at the ingredients list and it has glycerin and their products. I cannot use glycerin or aloe on my hair at all. Glycerin exacerbates frizz and aloe causes flash drying
Happy Thursday Dr Dray...see you tomorrow x💙🤩
Happy Thursday guys
You too
Dr. Dray can you please do a skin care product review on the NUDESKIN care line? 💛
I order from the website because I need salicylic acid in my shampoo and I don’t think the ones at Target have that. Plus I don’t have to go out to the store even though I love 🎯
Dr. Dray what do you think about Naris Up? I've been using their skin conditioners but I'd love to learn more about this brand :)
not familiar
Happy Thursday 💗💗💗
You too!!
Does cream erase really work? Is it worth the bang for the buck?
Can you PLEASE make a video about how to treat small white bumps on the forehead plsssss
She has videos about rough and bumpy skin
@@Lisatwade just found it ☺️ thank you!
Hello, Dr. 😊
Thanks for sharing! i agree that would be a great option
I’ve been wanting to try this forever but the only item I can choose to leave out of my formula (silicones) is one I need. I cannot see how I might leave out oils. Oils make my scalp itch like mad. I may call the customer service line and ask about this as I’d really love to try!
if you don’t use oils or silicones what are you using?
@@imawakemymindisalive13 I do use silicones, almost every day. It’s all that will keep my hair from frizzing even though my hair is fine! Oils however make my scalp itch. Terribly.
Happy Thursday from a fan right up the road in Big D! . 😍💖 Thanks to you I have upped my sunscreen and sun protection game!
I've been wanting this! I just finished my bottles of the straight hair and it was fine but I'm looking forward to watching this 😊 I saw a tiktok where someone reviewed just the ingredients and they said it was okay, but I'm pretty sure they weren't a dermatologist
i love their products, very good quality
dermatologists are experts on skin, not necessarily hair. just pointing that out, although Dray does know a good amount!
@@imawakemymindisalive13 the products you use on your scalp will affect your hair quality though. Normally I'd go to a cosmetologist for this stuff, but her knowledge on it has proven more science backed than what I've heard from them and cosmetology schooling seems to differ a great deal.
@@imawakemymindisalive13 doctors know anatomy and physiology- that includes hair. You know she actually graduated from medical school as a general MD and she did a fellowship to specialize in dermatology AFTER residency, right? She didn’t study dermatology in med school, that’s not a thing. So she knows anatomy in general.
I want to try custom of beauty hair products but I have a keratin treatment and want to make sure the FOB shampoo will not harm it. If anyone knows please let me know. I can’t find anything on google and I have not heard back from FOB. Thanks
Can you please rate the different lines of the Aussie shampo and conditioner? Greetings from Sweden 🥰
Would you do a review on the colour pop skincare line?
Don't they have a lot of fragrance/fruit/flower extracts?
@@db-gb5xi I’ve seen fruit extracts before and I’m sure some have fragrance but I feel like I’ve seen some fragrance free options or some with a nice ingredient list. Idk though that’s why I’m asking for her opinion.
@@Musicislife0831 In the meantime, you could check out No BS Beauty. She did at least one review on some of the products.
I love the purple shampoo too 👏
Just placed my first order :D ! I would love it if you could review the Aquis hair line.
I went on the website and customized my products the way I wanted them. However, whenever I was about to pay, I clicked on my item when it says "view all formula" to see if it was correct, and it never matched my choices 😕
Please do a fragrance free hair care round up!!!
If one wants to incorporate two or even three kinds of cleansers into one's routine, is there any reason not to make a kind of cleanser "cocktail"...beyond the usual cautions concerning dryness and irritation, of course.
Perfect timing.. been using FOB since January... been wondering if the ones sold at Target was the same.. now I know😊
Im thinking of trying that rice toner soon..I think its the Im From? Plus the ll effector from its skin❤
The im from rice toner is good! let me know how you like it if you give it a try
You should review Mario Badescu's line!
The target one is 11oz and the online is 16oz, so the actual full set would be $38 (target) compared to $49 (online, $39 with your link =)). Some reviews mentioned that the ingredients of booster shots are different between target and online, but I don't know how different they are exactly.

Happy Thursday Whitney. I hope you are doing well and having a wonderful day.
Hi Nada B. Have a great day and take care.
You got me onto FOB ages ago and it’s really good, especially since I have several fragrance allergies confirmed by patch testing🤙. 90% of fragrance free haircare products that I’ve tried are trash and end up in the trash😅
👱♀️❤
so glad to hear it has worked out well
I've been using Function of Beauty on your recommendation Dr Dray and love it.
I can get away with daily washing by avoiding blow drying - so thanks for that - not only is it no longer oily, but I don't have to blow dry either 🙌
When I started washing daily it was still oily - then I realised every once in a while I need to wash the ends of my hair as well as the roots. I had been washing just my scalp for so long, there was so much buildup on the rest of my hair. Now I will maybe once or twice a week also wash the ends.
