    Hey Jon, project is looking great as usual. Question: is there a reason you veneer the face before edge banding? If you reversed the process wouldn't you be able to hide the rim of the banding that is visible along the edge of the face?

    • @ThisTall
      @ThisTall 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Andy Buboltz Good question. As a cabinet maker my guess is he chose to prioritize the protection the edge banding gives the veneer face from chipping over the look you describe. Veneering the face last makes the visible face the final edge that takes (and shows) the damage or chipping if the corner is hit.

      @@ThisTall Can I ask you what you think of pre glued veneers? do you think they will eventually peel off?

    Hey Jon. Not sure if you've answered this question before, but how do you rate the Soss hinges compared to euro style hinges (the tradition hidden cabinet hinge)?

  • @simots
    @simots 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    What if you need to take off the door for some reason (I mean a big size door of a room not a cabinet)? I guess with this type of hinges the only option is to unscrew them. Not the case with the normal door hinges.

    Hi Jon, great work once again!
    Regarding cabinet doors sizes, how much smaller than the opening would you recommend cutting the door too?

    Jon, your projects looking great. Is there any way you can point me in the direction as to a place to buy Garnica Plywood in Nevada or the surrounding states? Thanks for your time.

    Hi, the veneer you used - was that pre glued from the supplier? I ask this because I wonder how good those pre glued venners are- I think one day it will start to peel off?

      Thanks... I just posted a project last week and on that project I used the Peel and stick pretty cool project and I talk a little about the difference in veneers it’s on my channel if you want to check it out

    Those hinges, even though they look great, seem to require a very precise mortise (not much wood left on the sides either) and don't look like they are very adjustable? Just an observation. Guess I'll need to try them.

    Jon, I typically use flush trim bits when doing a project like this. I was going to spring for the Template (www.amazon.com/SOSS-Router-Template-Invisible-Hinges/dp/B0006LA2NS/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8), but noticed that you have some sort of metal bit guard on your router and that is how you are able to use the bit and make sure it follows the template. Can you give more details. Not that straight forward...

    Can you send me the info for how you added the wood guide to the jig? I need to do that since I will be using a 204 hinge on a piece of wood that is only 3/4" wide. Thanks and happy holidays!

    Have you ever used the so called european hinges? The are hidden and cheaper than these. But I do not know if they can sponsor the show

    • @nevermindthebull0cks
      @nevermindthebull0cks 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lots of people prefer to use the European style hinge. They are very adjustable and it makes getting the door fits easy. But these hinges are really hidden.
