    Have tires that leak air around the bead? This video will help you fix those leaky tires big or small. You need to check where the tires are leaking from but usually if its not a hole in the tire itself or the valve stem, it's going to be leaking out from the bead. Check out the product I mention in the video at any auto parts store or on amazon and you should be able to fix the problem.

    I put new tires on my Rhino and one was leaking. Purchased a different brand from AutoZone for $13 that has the same warning, “for professional use only.” Followed your directions and it worked perfectly. Still at the same psi a week later. You saved me $150. I was in the process of purchasing a new rim. I thought the rim was bent. Wish they sold smaller cans. I have enough to last two of my lifetimes.

    Good tip, Derek. I remember this greenish crap we used when mounting tires at a service station I worked at years ago, probably the same thing.

    I didn't think this was possible without breaking the bead first ... I will certainly give it a try.

    Worked great! Used the same stuff on my tire after watching video and no more leaks. Thank you

      Chassis grease works better in my opinion and it doesn't create more cleanup work the next time you have to dismount the tire.
      It seals and helps prevent rusting. Been doing it on car / pickup tires as well. It also prevents aluminum wheels from corrosion associated with road salt. I have heard people say that "Petroleum based products deteriorate the rubber". I call BS on that.
      I have been using grease for over 20 years now and have dismounted tires several years later and the rubber was perfectly fine.
      May not be "right" according to the armchair quarterbacks who tend to comment on things they have no experience with but I can say that it works great for me and all my friends and neighbors I do tire work for in my personal shop.

    Good tip, next time I have to do tires on either my families utility trailer, or yard equipment, I plan to go buy irons and do my own tires. The local chain tire shop charged me more than buying new wheels would have cost when I had the utility trailer tires done. I will just do them myself next time, and save the money.

      It’s getting pretty expensive. If you have that manual tire changer from HF, and are a little practiced, you could probably do tires faster than the shop will do it and (in my area) it’ll save you $25/tire. So an extra $100 in mounting fees at least.

    Well a metric crap ton of Grease and a 3-in ratchet strap later and I'm going to the auto parts store to pick up some of this bead sealer. My riding mower tire resisted both of those attempts hopefully your tip works, thank you for making this video sir

    You put 30 psi in a 15 psi tire! You definitely worked in a tire shop lol! I am afraid to do that because I am afraid the tire will blow off the rim.

    • @DereksWorkshopAndProjects
      @DereksWorkshopAndProjects  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      We always took tires up no more than double the rated PSI to set the bead and then brought it back down to operating pressure. That’s the way I was taught anyway.

    What will it be like in the future if I have to change the tire?
    Will it be difficult?

  • @breeze787

    Had the same problem. Installed brand new tires 11 x 4.00 - 5 and they are real tiny after a few days I noticed it was real low. Pumped it to 40psi and checked it for leaks. The leaks were only on the back side and they were really micro bubbles it looked like foam after awhile. I pulled out my rubber mallet and beat it silly everywhere around the tire giving the leaky area special attention, Checked the pressure still at 40psi and checked it for leaks. Wellah!
    But if I have a more serious leak I'll keep your tar paint in mind. Thanks for putting this up!

    If I do this and let's say it doesn't stop the leak and I have to replace the rims, would the tires be damaged or not able to go on new rims cause of the paste? I got my tires replaced and now it's leaking and Discount Tire is telling me a need new rims. I want to try this. Also I am talking about on a car not tractor or anything.

    • @DereksWorkshopAndProjects
      @DereksWorkshopAndProjects  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You don’t have to, it just keeps air from being a problem with breaking to tire down.

      @@DereksWorkshopAndProjects I have a little bit bigger tire, like bigger than this one but smaller than a car tire. I have bead sealer from when I fixed a little caster wheel but I don't have any way to break the bead on a tire that size, I didn't think it would work without breaking the bead
