    I have a TICA Certified female Russian Blue that I went to great hassle to get. She was worth all the work and expense! Hands down, the best cat breed.

      Maybe but most of them were at least part Russian Blue. A lot of hybrids out there.

      There are 3 different lines of Russian blues. You have the slimmer American line with the pronounced triangle head and big ears. The English line, who are build more like a European shorthair and the Scandinavian line. We have 2 kittens from the English line because we like a bit sturdier cat.

    Mines probably a domestic grey, but he's got the plush grey fur, the green eyes (not as vivid as the RB's should be) and the personality traits. Got him free from the shelter because he had gotten kidney stones and needed prescription cat food. We just feed him the urinary tract formula from purina one, and no issues in the 4 years that we've had him. I think his previous owner probably liked to give him milk all the time (it's still a favorite of his, even if I hardly ever give him any).

    On the 6 th August 2018, I had to put to sleep my little Russian blue
    Elsa, at the age of 9. She had a cancer! It took me a year to get over
    it! I felt sooooo bad and depressed! On the 20th of August 2019, a new
    little Russian girl was born just for me! She arrived home on the 20th
    november 2019. I called her Priska! I am now living a new love story
    with her! I also have a female bengal cat called Ciryane. She loves
    kittens! Thanks to this race of cats that give you so much love! I miss
    Elsa, but Priska helps me to live a new love story. It is also the case
    for my bengal cat Ciryane! It is so difficult to get over such a loss! I
    am a man and I can just cry over and over for the loss of my Elsa! Now
    Priska is giving us (Ciryane and I) a reason to continue loving and
    hoping!

    Why all the British shorthairs with golden yellow eyes? Your Russian can enjoy outdoors, it gets easily used to a harness and you can check if you can have a firm metal net around your balcony/patio. The Russian likes to take a walk with you. Mine is easy to follow and catch in case he ventures out of the door.
    One thing is for sure: you do not have to go to the toilet alone unless you want to.

    So I recently moved and adopted a stray russian blue he is an outside cat, but I would like him to be more indoors. Any tips? I dont want to take away his freedom, but I want him to be clean and rid of any fleas and so on because he follows me into my room and bed. I live in florida so he wont freeze to death. How can I make him feel more at home? I am too scared to bathe him with his claws, and taking him to the vet is an option, but I just dont know how he will react.

    • @megenberg8
      @megenberg8 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      he is gentle and loves to eat. speak softly and play w/ a 'string & stick' to coax him out, becoming comfortable at home. give him a soft window seat - he will feel like its 'outside'. go online to pet bucket (a company) and order a med for cats called 'revolution' for the antidote to many parasitical infestations, including fleas & ear mites, and mange. very simple. serve both wet and dry meals each day. brush and trim nails carefully as needed.
      TIPS- GIVE HIM A BLANKET FOR SLEEPING UP FROM THE FLOOR- PLAY GENTLE MUSIC-BIRDSONG SOFTLY & provide FRESH WATER EVERY DAY!

      I think the most important thing is that you get his trust and offer him a good place to live, but you don't force him. Everything else has to happen...
      My two were in my apartment from an early age and were afraid outside. I would have been afraid for her too.

      Don’t let him go outside, and give him all the things he may need, scratchers, toys, beds, cat litter, a cat tree if possible. I have same situation, and my Russian blue now is happy to be only indoors. Of course neuter him.

    Please don't compare Russian Blues with Dobermans. Dobermans were specifically bred to be guard dogs, while the Russian Blue is a naturally-occurring breed (though recently they have been interbred with other cats). Both of them are great, but it's like comparing the finest sushi in Japan to a legendary taco truck in Los Angeles.

    • @tamivega6225
      @tamivega6225 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      YES! Thank you! If the judge had said "looks like" or "reminds me of" I would think it's a stretch but not as misleading as carelessly slapping that label on Blues. I've known Dobermans. Give me a break. I've spent hours studying cat breeds before I decide which breed to bring into my home and flagrantly misleading info only makes it harder. I am not amused.

      Oh thank you for saying that Peter... My Russian Blue, Silver Sapphire Autumn Blue, she is 11 and I want her to live another ten years or more if I can. She is the boss in this house and we adore each other. I waited for her to be born and I was put into a room of six kittens and Sapphie ran up my leg and chose me. When I cuddle her she trills. I talk with her everyday, and she always answers back. She is very clever as I ask her does she want her brush, or her clippers or her blanket or breakfast or dinner or outside. She got her very first bath last week because she stank like no one's business. It was a bit traumatic at first, but then I bribed her with her brush and cuddles. Best thing ever her coat was better than velvet and she flopped on top of my lap and purred like crazy. She truly is a gift.

    It is rare to find a video about breed cats and dogs that don't have photos of wrong breed thrown in. Some are really ridiculous. It's annoying and should be called out. (We are told to "remember to keep our comments respectful". Really? I don't respect fraudulent representations.)

    It is so sad that maker of this TH-cam has a photo of a cat with a white patch on its gray body and implies this cat is a Russian Blue! This obvious mistake makes the rest of the video suspect and makes one doubt the true intentions of the maker of this video.

    • @bettyhappschatt3467
      @bettyhappschatt3467 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is much easier to be the center of cat's attention. My cat likes to make biscuits on me or crab my arm when he wants me to get up and go for a walk with him. I clip only the sharp point, about 1mm away.

    • @roden70
      @roden70 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You clip only the tip. And when the come outside the nails gets duller by themselves.

  • @tamivega6225
    @tamivega6225 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What? The Doberman is a breed only strong, experienced owners should have. Without proper handling they can be dangerous like all guard breeds. Are you claiming this about the Russian Blue? Or was that judge an idiot?

    • @bettyhappschatt3467
      @bettyhappschatt3467 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. Cats can behave even if they are not subordinate like dogs. You just need to offer them food, companionship and a clean peaceful toilet. The Doberman comparison is about the lean and strong body.
