I rescued a gray starving kitten in June of 2021. I thought she was just a gray domestic short hair but she turned out to be a Russian Blue. The most friendly and beautiful cat I have ever had.
I rescued a baby 1 month ago and am so infatuated with him. First in the morning he gives morning kisses. Then he follows me everywhere talking the whole time. He watches everything I do, so now he opens my nightstand drawer where I keep their snacks then it's off to the closet door. He then gives his brother dog kisses. Then it's off to torment his big brother cat. He is just so happy and loving can't wait to watch him grow up.❤️
How did you figure out that it was a russian blue? we just adopted a grey kitty too and were told she's a DSH but I have doubts if she's a Russian Blue mix.
had Russian blue male once - smartest cat i ever owned and very independent but very chill too - nothing bothered him - he was more like a dog than a cat.
My Blue has turn many, who have met him, into cat lovers. The one thing everyone has always noticed about him is that he is so chill. He is intelligent and responsive and talks a lot. We have entire conversations lol. He is always there at the door when I get home, sleeps with me every single night and showers me with affection. Greatest cat I've ever had.
I own a RB female and another female cat. The RB female is very affectionate and playfull. As a kitten she was VERY warily concerning strangers or visitors. But she improved that after she became adult and lets visitors pet her, if they are polite. She loves her rituals, which seems to structure her day. She always accompanies me in the bathroom, while I shower and getting dressed in the morning. And when I go to bed she always hops in the bed and loves to be petted until I fall asleep. At the weekends, when I am at home in the morning she will enjoy my presence during breakfast and just sits on my lap being satisfied and happy, while my other cat is still a sleep. Although she has a small voice, she talks a lot and can be possessive and bossy towards my other cat. PS: she was being neutered at a very young age (~4-5 month), but she has this behaviour of marking "her" territory with an (thankfully odorless ) spray...The other female cat never does that.
I got my husband a male Russian blue since he's always wanted one. But he's basically my cat by his own choosing. He's the smartest sweetest, most loving n talkative boy ever. Love him to death!!
Decades ago I had a male Russian Blue; he was the most wonderful cat one could have bless their life. He did not like going outside by himself but loved to go for walks on a leash. He also liked to cuddle with me on the porch swing during thunderstorms.
Oh i feel so lucky that i got a male Russian blue. Like D Money below, he was a rescue from the local sanctuary. We thought he was a simple domestic gray cat. Wrong! He is super smart and so easy to live with. Description on this vid is spot on!!
I had a male Russian Blue back in the nineties and I have a female now; I didn't notice any major personality differences; my male (August) and my female (Sofie) have been to two most adorable, affectionate, loving pets I have ever owned. Amazing with people, other cats, and even dogs; they're a gift.
Just got 3days back she rescue cat. Shes nearly 2 brought her my to siamese hissed growled she didnt care she love pat on belly meow chirps purrs iv change her name yes it sofie was lucky after 3days she comes to sofie my siamese good with her now but shes small cat at 2.8kg doesnt eat alot
My male (rip) was extremely shy and hid when anyone was around whereas my female would eventually warm up to you. But yes my male was extremely affectionate and miss his him so very much even after 1.5 years. His head butts and love being held. Tears when I remember his affection. Russian Blues are a great breed. My female just turned 18 but skinny - yet has always been lean.Only weighs 5 lbs. And yes, she exhibits extreme arrogance and call her the Prima Donna. Never had a cat with such a strong catitude. Love Russian blues and having two was the best decision ever. Great little companions.Great video!
My sister's cat wants to meow and cuddle and rubs constantly. He wants to rub and purr no matter what. As you see Merlin is a male. Cute little bugger.
My little girl is the sweetest but my boy is crazy… He’s too smart! 😂 I was expecting the opposite when watching videos about rb’s boys vs girls. I was more worried about having a girl but she ended up being the easy one 😭 I love them both though 💙💙
My female RB is the least graceful cat I've ever had. She reminds me more of a floppy golden retriever puppy than a cat. (And fetches, too.) But she is super feisty. Only 6 months old, so we'll see. I had a male RB who died about 8 years ago when he was only 12. He was an amazing companion. Super loyal, sweet, and affectionate. Literally wouldn't even hurt a fly. Would watch curiously as bugs passed right in front of him. He wasn't a fan of strangers and wasn't a lap cat but when he got older he would curl up in my armpit and lie his head on my shoulder. God, I miss him and his big, sweet head. My new little RB girl is the cat I've had since him who has captured my heart in a similar way. I love all of my cats, but these Russian blues are just sweet and never a dull moment.
Korat cats look like Russian blues but their life expectancy is 10-12 while a Russian Blue is more like 20 years. If you want your cat to live longer never feed them any grains or even any carbs. They are obligate carnivores. Which means no plants. We make our 2 boys raw meat cat food and give a very small amount of grain free kibble which we are weaning them off of. Also cats can not tolerate albumin in egg whites.
Russian Blues are the best cats ever. Mu daughter had one. She did shed in seasons. Truth that she was diva like and wanted to do her own thing. Very smart and made a great support pet very affectionate. I enjoyed her tho we had to give her away because we didnt have the time to be there for her. We made sure she went with a cat lover Now she has a friend. I miss her tho
Most cats are so called " Russian blue" in the United States are just domestic grey cats, they are much bigger and muscular, eyes could be different colors. The pure Russian Blue breed is very gracious and has a light silver coat and tends to be skinny, has green eyes only
I came across my Russian blue when I was picking up my oldest son who was 6 at the time. She just jumped in my car and she started purring. Now 10 years later she’s been part of my family and the best cat I’ve ever had.

An important note regarding shedding~ both of them shed less together than my gorgeous Siamese love bug, no longer with us here. 😰 I brushed him daily and still needed lint rollers several times a day. I currently own both and the review is quite the opposite lol
I'm skeptical that a.russian blue cat is any more hypo allergenic than a regular breed. Most cats eat mice and mice are dirty.
I read the are more suitable for people having an allergy as they loose not much hair.
My daughter has a cross Russian blue, it’s mean 😢
I have a female Russian blue she likes to sleep on my chest a lot of the time 😂
weight is totally wrong! Russians are medium sized cats, a male might top out at 12 pounds, females maybe 9 pounds top
some of those photos are not Russian blue
The cats eyes are not Russian blue
Same video for bombay cats. Nice try
I have never seen a Russian blue in person until I was given one who was abandoned as a baby back in 2016 he's my big fat boy!!! very affectionate ,very smart & very funny he understands 2 languages greek & English!! & he loves his grandma very much especially when she's not feeling well he wont leave her side & then I was given 2 more abandoned kitties 2 girls they have their issues between them since they were younger when they were abandoned younger & needed to be bottle fed by grandma. so they are all jealous of each other especially when it comes to their grandma time!!! my boy smokey loves to be brushed, bathed & spoiled he comes to everyone who visits my home & loves a lot attention!!! I can honestly say I hit the kitty jackpot with this beautiful regal boy!!!! he does have a weight problem but I can't get him on a diet I need to get him to lose 8lbs at least if not more he currently weighs 25lbs!!!!
Found a kitten on the side of the road that looks like a russian blue. Gon get him a DNA test shen hes older but hes got hard resemblance
