Just a line to say that I really enjoy your videos and the life style that you guys are living. It reminds me of a time when I rode horses, saw a lot of country, and had a good dog who went every step of the way. Enjoy it and keep the videos coming. I also appreciate the way you take care of your stock and bring them along the right way. I've seen a lot of "horse" people ask way too much, way too early and ruin the animal. Anyway, happy new year to both of you!

We try our best to not get them into situations they aren’t ready to handle yet. It may take us a little longer than some folks, but like you said… we don’t want to put too much on them ☺️❤️

What an awesome way to spend the day! It’s fun to speculate what these pictographs mean and why they were painted where they were. Thank you for sharing and have a very Merry Christmas!
That is a really cool find. There's so much history out there. While shed hunting near where i grew up i found several old walls made up of rock. It ended being a funnel that natives herded animals into for hunting.
This reminded me of discovering some pictographs in British Columbia when we didn't expect them. It left us with so many questions, just like you. Whoever put them there lived such a different life that it's hard to know what was important to them and what they were thinking. The weather isn't kind so it's remarkable that it's still there. We were on a boat - not nearly as much fun as a mule.
Great video, as always, Jason and Alyssa. I always enjoy your trail rides, and this was no exception. Those squares were very strange. I watched this video again and still didn’t understand them. Like I said before, loved the view! It’s just easier to breathe at the top of a hill or small mountain, lol! Merry Christmas to you and and your family. God bless! 🎄✝🙏❤😊
I love your respect for native people and their history - it was so special to watch this treasure hunt! Question: your off-trail riding - do you feel like horses could manage that just as well? Or Did you really need the mule sure-footedness? We are trying to figure out whether to get a mule or a horse for my husband - he's not a rider (yet) and I'm concerned that a mule would be too much for him / there aren't places he can take lessons locally on a mule. But, the mountain hardiness would be awesome! Interested in your perspective for beginner riders.
Thank you! We appreciate you watching! ☺️ Overall we do feel mules are more surefooted than MOST horses. But there are definitely a lot of really nice mountain horses out there. The hike up to that big panel was a little loose and treacherous, but probably most horses could have handled it without a problem. I think a mule would be just fine for a beginner, depending on the mule and the style of training. Mules tend to need some times to think through things when they are unsure and are more apt to shut down or run off when too pressured. An old outfitters horse may be a good choice, even if they are dull. Usually dull and lazy also = safe in the mountains. The main thing is finding an equine that has a really solid mind, has experience in the mountains and is kind regardless if it’s a horse or mule. You can’t go wrong with that combo! ( oh and of course, make sure they are healthy!) one thing to remember is mules usually have more longevity than horses so a 16 year old mule could go another 8-10 years before slowing up while a horse the same age would be retired in about 4-6 years.

Great job MTN BUILT Merry Christmas 🎄 and Happy New Year 🎈🎊 Did you see any evidence of the natives building any stone works at caves or alcoves up there.
