The company I work for has switched to KiCAD and Freecad coz the tools are so damn good. Plus side, Another workbench to learn. Yay.

    300° K, not a problem for us Celcius people. Just subtract 273 = 27° C.

Yep. We can do K °C convertion in our heads. Sorry you Fahrenheit people out there... :P
      Thank you Joko. Excelent video.

Hi! Great video, really helped me for what i needed. New to the channel and i am not sure if i missed this out during the video but, why was the result of the transient thermal analysis at 35 sec instead of 30 and 40? Thank you :-)

Could thermal comfort inside buildings be done using OF workbench ? Also could cfd analysis, particularly, wind around buildings for calculating wind loads and wind inside buildings, for natural ventilation be done in freecad + open foam workbench ?

    Hello,
Great tutorial. Is it possible to get the total heat flux of one face?

How would you do thermal analysis without expansion? Would it get rid of the need of the mesh? Because I'm not interested in the mechanical expansion and my part is very complex which gives a lot of meshes which makes it impossible to compute.

It's worth noting that if your 'Edit', 'Preferences', 'Units' is set for anything other than 'Standard' or 'MKS' then you won't have values in W/m^2/k available. Units are kg/(s^3*K) is used in all the other Unit systems that I checked. I wasn't able to find a conversion from a quick Google search so I am guessing the value depends how the flux is specified in your material properties. YMMV
I am running 0.19 and running 'Metric Small parts & CNC' and the selection was different and couldn't figure out why for a while. Hope this helps clear up any confusion (like mine).

I have not tried a multi-material analysis for something like that, I'll see what I can find

Hey. Can you make a video about assembly part on free cad.not sure if you already have a video about it covered. I was migrating my project form solid works to work on freecad instead because I didn't use windows anymore.

@@JokoEngineeringhelp thanks for your reply what I want is basically analysis of a one way valve which opens when air flows through the pipe so at what air flow will the valve open will cfd analysis or fem will be useful I am not from engineering background so don't know which analysis to do

It's been a long time since I have done this so I could be way off but if I remember it's because the material is highly conductive.

The start of the video isn't great - it pretends to give a quick summary what to expect and what to learn, but then only gives you the "Thermal Analysis" keyword to immediately fall off a cliff into details.
    * Describe the problem (with pictures and spoken words)
    * summarize the approach
    * Show a representative set of views of the result.
THEN go into detail, perhaps with a preface regarding the structure of the video, and put timestamps in the description to forward to particular topics like
    0:00 half-baked introduction
    0:06 Building The Geometry
    1:38 Creating an Analysis
    - 2:00 Meshing
    - 3:22 Adding Constraints
and so on and so forth.
