    Really like these G10 videos. To be honest I quite like the jpegs it produces, especially the colours on a nice bright day.
    That said, you can really see the benefit of editing RAW, especially those awesome night shots! 👍

    I’ve used the g10 for sometime now ,I have lots of other cameras but this camera is special. It was often sold as a backup camera for the canon 5d and there’s good reason it was .

      Is g15 much different from g10?

    • @DavidFlowerOfficial
      @DavidFlowerOfficial  ปีที่แล้ว

      In a word, yes.
      The G15 had a completely new sensor in it (12mpx CMOS vs 14.7mpx ccd in the G10).
      With this came slightly better high iso performance (although still not great because the sensor is still tiny)
      A faster lens (1.8-2.8 vs 2.8-4.5 on the G10)
      and lots of other features like 1080 24p video and improved auto focus.
      What makes the G10 special is the combination of the highest resolution of any of the original G series cameras and that it a ccd sensor to boot.
      As you might be able to tell, I really like this camera 🖖😁

    • @dasIDS
      @dasIDS ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DavidFlowerOfficial So you find that ssd is better than CMOS? When Canon g's stopped with ssd? There were still 11 and 12 I think

    • @DavidFlowerOfficial
      @DavidFlowerOfficial  ปีที่แล้ว

      @dasIDS I wouldn’t say better, but they produce a look that’s different to CMOS sensors and I really like it. If memory serves the G11 and G12 were both lower resolution but still ccd sensors. The G15 (there is no 13 or 14) was the first in the series to use the cmos sensor. Ccd sensors are much more expensive and use more power than cmos sensors which is likely why they, along with Nikon and likely others made the switch for their consumer cameras. Canon only used a ccd sensor in one of their dslr models, the original 1D, whereas Nikon, Leica and Fujifilm continued to use them for a fair while longer.

    I gotta say David, I really liked the images from this camera. I don't shoot film, but I follow some film street and urban photographers and some of these images reminds me of their work. Some of that might come down to your street editing style, but I definitely saw some of that in the JPEG files. It definitely has more of an older, organic look to it straight out of camera. Even the low light images looked really nice on the computer screen. Really great stuff as always mate. Have yourself a great weekend over there!

    Some great images there David, considering the camera you’re using. I’ve 7 35mm SLR’s I’m putting films through to make sure they’re all working plus some point and shoots, mainly 35mm again, it’ll take me a while as you shoot much slower with film and there’s no way I can get them all developed on one go. I’ve two films ready to go to a lab, 2 more in cameras and one that I can’t make up my mind which camera to use, I may put it in my Pentax AF Zoom 70, not a great camera I believe but I may sell a few to go towards a digital point and shoot, something slightly older like the one you used

      I'm not sure how the newer G1x performs in relation to the G10 and I've never printed any images from the G10 so I couldn't say how they look. They have encouraged me to get my old G10 out of the cupboard, charge the battery and give it a another go. I noticed in one of your videos you used P mode is this the norm for you or do you prefer aperture priority. Any tips to get me back on the G10 road once again rather then me lugging my full frame around all the time would be welcomed. Many thanks and great vids

    • @DavidFlowerOfficial
      @DavidFlowerOfficial  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey thanks for watching. I always shoot in manual on just about every camera except the G10 and that’s mainly because the sensor is so small.
      Most things are in focus even at f2.8 so using it in P mode in good light, means the only thing you have to consider is the composition and the G10 I’ve found does a great job of nailing the exposure if you set expose compensation down to about -2/3rds of a stop or so just to protect those highlights. Hope that helps, Phil. Have a good one🖖
