As a child our family of ten experienced hard times, We were clothed from jumble sales and furniture was either rescued from people’s unwanted items or junk shops. At times I remember feeling embarrassed standing in the jumble sale queue hopeful, embarrassed, ashamed that anyone I knew would not spot me. Today these junk shops and charity shop finds are now on trend, I am genius at spoting a bargain and our home is full of others once loved now unwanted treasures, very rarely purchase new clothing and when I do it has to be a bargain. Mum has long since departed, eternally grateful and proud of her lessons on thriftiness.x
In the Appalachian South there is a custom of putting cobalt blue glass in front of the kitchen window to keep out “hungry hants” (ghosts) coming in the window for food. From Germany, German settlers also put a little carved rabbit in their food cupboard to encourage the food to multiply, so the family would never go hungry. Once we heard about that custom, we all did it too in our houses. So far, it’s working!
These flea market shopping videos are some of my favorites! It’s interesting to see what you choose and where you put those treasures in your home. So much to choose from! ❤
Love that Murano vase! Thank you for taking us along. Thrifting is like exploring Grandma’s attic for hidden treasures. BTW the kitchen looks like a wonderful place to cook and hang out. Stay well.
@@loriplate729 Exactly! Kept in the kitchen and sometimes on the front porch to cool. Grandma put hers in front of the open window to entice Granddad to come in!
Oh, Julie, thank you for sharing Nestor's channel. It was an absolute JOY to be able to meet him. So much like YOU! Passionate. Independent. And he knows knots! No doubt you worry to death about him. Much thanks to you and Luke for giving him so much space. He's a good kid. Can't wait to see what is in store for him. Hope he is good student, too! Congratulations!
You found so many beautiful things! I would have bought all that you did, along with the basket! The basket could hold books or other things in the kitchen or living room! Absolutely love everything you decorate with!
Ciao Julie, what a blast today was, I love shopping with you. What a haul for 60e. the only thing with the Murano vase is a beauty. Thanks for taking us along. Amore da N.Y.
Glad u got that picture @40 euros. I thought it would also be perfect for the kitchen as well. Love going to the flea markets with you...always great finds! Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦🫶
Oh my gosh, that is literally my idea of heaven. Many years ago I explored the Depot Ventes in Normandy, and found many beautiful pieces of antique French furniture. I now want to visit Tuscany just to spend my days in places such as these. Incidentally, we are a Dorset family local to Mapperton. It’s one of our fave places to visit, we love to eat in the cafe and walk in the immediate vicinity. Our 2 feral ( now ‘domesticated’ ) cats were born at Mapperton!
I really love the impressionistic art. I think it mixes with everything beautiful in your home up until the point where I got disabled and took up art I used to think only realism was beautiful, but I love all types of art, modern impressionistic you’ve done a wonderful job decorating your home, it feels comfortable and inviting🦋
Beautiful. Virtual shopping trip to Italy until I get my residence there. So interesting. I had fuuun! I would have bought the little painting, too ; it's so pretty. Never boring. I like seeing what you've done to the little house. I'll keep checking in. Thank you for sharing.
Hi Julie, the cabinet where you placed the little glass vase would highlight items in the cabinet better if some embossed wallpaper was added to the back, or a mirror, love watching your show
Going flea market hunting with you Julie is so much fun!!!! Thanks for taking me along👍🏻 I absolutely love the painting! It is perfect for the bedroom! I’m a sucker for vases, jugs and bottles. You did a great job finding those beauties. The little box is ❤️ I can’t wait to see the finished Italian kitchen and the farmhouse renovation🤩
Your content beautifully captures the thrill of discovery and appreciation for cultural treasures. Each video is a delightful journey through Italy's flea markets, showcasing your keen eye for unique finds and your passion for storytelling. Your ability to share the excitement and charm of these experiences is truly infectious, making viewers feel like they're right there with you on your best flea market trip ever. And I am Floating Village Life
The tall green glass bottle should go on the window sill/shelf you showed in a recent video, maybe the kitchen?? It would set off the stone wall exposed at the other end of the window well.
I love the green bottles and think they would make a nice grouping on your kitchen window sill along with others you find. Picture the sun shining through the glass. The little painting on a mini easel would only enhance. A collection of ceramic or unglazed orci would look great too.
Darling, I’ve been watching you renovate this Italian precious home of yours and you’ve done such a wonderful job. I’m so happy to see you back. During this time that I’ve been watching your channel, my husband has been diagnosed with cancer. It was unexpected. It’s scary and he will be needing a stem cell transplant this year. In this video, I noticed that you said that you were going to have a few Airbnb‘s. We are not working, but if he gets through the stem cell transplant, we need to get away. And we have always wanted to see the UK and we’ve always wanted to see Italy, so what I’m asking is approximately how much you would rent as an Airbnb. Thank you so much for all the fun and I’m having watching your channel making believe I’m shopping with you. God bless you.
This is so much fun going along with you, virtually! Today’s haul, so to speak, was great, I’ll start with the picture in frame that will go over your master bed, perfect in every way! The colors in the frame itself, and then the picture, almost reminds me of Folk Art, but the dark colors in it will be a great contrast with the color of your bed frame, which I think is beautiful. Can’t wait to see it once you’ve hung it up. The Murano glass vase is so cute, great price, also. I am looking at things as you do, well, I’m getting a lot of ideas and I do like your style. Let’s go shopping again❤️.
The glass bottles encased in wicker are called demijohns. Julie, you missed the beautiful pastoral framed in gold on the same table you found the white Murano glass vase. The pastoral could be used to decorate the walls of the new farmhouse renovation back in England. I share your love of flea markets. Thanks for taking me along!
I loved that flea market trip! All I kept thinking was I need to help hold the basket and be another set of hands!😅 you did great filming with your phone and the stick, holding your bag and the basket!
I had no idea we could purchase some of your finds, this is so exciting. I love your thrifting videos and then to see where you put things, Can’t wait to see it all put up..
You’re born for this Julie. ❤ I love the view in the videos when using the selfie stick. Funny we don’t see it but we see your little hand clutching it 😂😂😂. The little vase 💞💞💞💞💞 I know I mentioned putting the clock up on the window shelf. Now you held that beautiful green bottle up WOW the light showing through some gorgeous glass vases YES and fill with fresh flowers everytime you’re in your little Italian home. 😊 lovely video once again.

I spotted at the beginning of the video when u were in the salvage yard, a ver d Gris colored , what looked like a wine cask wrapped in rattan,,,all that blue green, and thought, that would look wondering in Julie’s Kitchen up on the window ledge in her Italian house.
Fun Story, I visited exactly this flee market on my last trip to Italy and looked at exactly this Sailing Boat Painting as well. And I didn't buy it because of the hefty price tag. But it really is an awesome place. Thanks for sharing these places. Your joy on finding these little treasures is really infectious.
Hi Julie in Australia 🇦🇺 your trinket cupboard was called a Meat safe.I bought one similar 47 years ago .Mine was a cupboard without legs ! It had mesh on the outside walls .The top I sanded back it was Australian red cedar. They would place wet hessian over the cupboard and place it in the shade to get the breeze!Enjoy your trinket cupboard and Finds in Italy your having such fun 😊
Fantastic finds love it.....The little painting by BIANCHI can easly be cleaned by you, my friend that worked in an Art Museum, said they sometimes would take some white bread and work it in the hand into a tiny ball and gently rub the dirt off the paintings ....try it it works hahha x

The kitchen is looking great can’t wait to see it finished great finds Julie ❤️🤗
❤
so appreciate your energy. super fun finds! your little Italian home is becoming so warm, inviting . . . cozy.
Thanks so much! 😊
Would the green bottles go well in front of the high window with the deep ledge in the kitchen? Then the light would shine through them
Just learned what a demijohn glass is! I think a big oversized one would look great in that high kitchen window, to catch the light.
Love that Murano vase! Thank you for taking us along. Thrifting is like exploring Grandma’s attic for hidden treasures. BTW the kitchen looks like a wonderful place to cook and hang out. Stay well.
I would have assumed that small primative screened cabinet a pie safe. Where pies were put to cool, and keep flies from sitting on them.
@@loriplate729
Exactly! Kept in the kitchen and sometimes on the front porch to cool. Grandma put hers in front of the open window to entice Granddad to come in!
You’re right! It’s for storing pies
Love coming along on your shopping trip.
Me too, I am so addicted to thrifting online. I have actually been on a trinket box kick lately. Love handmade, vintage, and cheap!
The vases next to the basket on the floor that you like…are wonderful
I love your flea market videos. That small painting is my favorite.
Mine too!
Mine too, at first blush it reminded me of your Italian villa!
Wait!!!...I just started watching....You passed by these beautiful large copper/gold pots/lamps...don't know what they are, but they look beautiful!!

Julie, do you have any updates about the cellar beneath your house? You were going to investigate if it belongs to you.
Yes news in August xx can’t wait to share!
I was wondering about the cellar too!!
August is here still waiting. Nearly gone actually.
I carefully cut a bottle out of a wicker basket. They both look fab separated. I found it at the decheterie 🙂
There was a gorgeous green water bottle for the Italian house on that shelf
I love those Dungerees ❤ Love watching this transformation unfold 💃🏽
