I remember the summer holidays me and buddy first started with 30 lives co op mode. Eventually we understood how the different levels worked and got good enough to do it dying 1 or 2 times. Eventually we used to beat it multiple times a day on single player. I rememeber I had all the patterns memorised. We didnt have many games to play and this was the best one me and buddy had. Fun times.
Yeah, I love this game too. I remember that there was a cheat code for infinite lives if you press the control buttons a certain way before the main menu loads. It was real fun.

Yeah he's definitely using some type of turbo controller, cause the spread gun isn't automatic. And you can't shoot on full auto while jumping with the original OEM controller.
When I first bought this not long after it came out, I struggled with it, mightily. Took me a bit to finally conquer the game in 1 credit consistently, but could never do it in one life. That honor went to the original NES Castlevania, and I've only done it once (most of my runs on that one were one credit, but the Grim Reaper stage tended to trip me up).
