    Impact is better cause I doesn't kick back anywhere near as much. Just have to keep in mind if the bit is impact rated like the milwaukee

    I usually use a 1/4 inch pilot hole just to either save the tip of the uni bit, or extend the life of it past the dulling of the tip. Also have you tried the shockwave self ejecting hole saws? Those are great in metal, and are my first choice for a fresh hole. I try to only use uni bits for opening existing holes, just because of the expence.

    Cool. I notice you are getting bigger chips with the impact. Also, I use a 1/4" hex drive small keyless chuck for running round shank drill bits with my m12 impact driver and skip the drill.

    When drilling through the sheet metal you say the drill in speed two is too quick and ruins the bit. But then when you use the impact on the sheet metal you say it’s the go? But you also say that they are too close to call? So is the impact ruining the bit also? Im confused

    Same thing with the step bits as the drill bits, use that little screw function on the impact, it’s choice 4 on both the m18 and m12

    Dont really see what is hard to understand, to me If its stated on the packet that its rated for use in an impact whats the issue? I prefer to use a standard drill on any thing thicker than tin roof sheet and i feel the bits last longer when not used in an impact

    • @alejandroWar23
      @alejandroWar23 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well it's the theory that although it says it's impact rated that it wears out much faster in an impact than an actual drill

    • @victorpoliashov2467
      @victorpoliashov2467 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@alejandroWar23 So is it theory or do they actually wear faster? Im about to drop 180 on set and dont wanna run them in impacts if it destroys them

      @@victorpoliashov2467 I've noticed miter wear and tear on my step-bit that I put on my impact versus what I used before on my M18 drill

    My only issue with running it in the impact driver is it throws shavings further. I have gotten a few nasty burns from that.

    That blows my mind that the impact is that much quicker than the drill... Makes no sense to me haha, do you know of any reason why?

    • @phanimator5410

      My guess is that the impact drill has a hammering feature when it gets stuck, so rather than keep turning like a normal drill, it would tap in to get deeper before continuing to drill, which I reckon let the drill bit bite more so it can tear through more.

    You should test out the DEWALT double flute spiral step drill bits. They destroy anything else ever made especially the Milwaukee ones that you're using right now they are 4th or 5th. The Dewalt drillbits will cut through that metal in about four seconds if that I'm not trying to knock you down or anything I'm just telling you fact.. cheers mate

  • @kurothot2203

    Cool head to head and good to know the m18 impact works well with it but i would have thought that as a sparky you have the m12 impact on your hip and the m18 drill in the just in case bucket for doing drill work where using the clutch would be a good idea(drilling down through noggins). Also have you tried Trefolex? I got the Trefolex c.d.t and thought it was better than the sutton fluid, seems to cling to the drill and not smoke as bad. Cheers for the content.

    • @AddictedtoTools
      @AddictedtoTools  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey mate. That’s exactly right. I do usually have the m12 impact on me with the m18 drill in case. Definitely the best setup.
      I haven’t tried too many fluids, so I might have to give that stuff a go if I can find it.
      Cheers for the info. 👍

    If I had a jewtube channel and unlimited affiliated money, this is how I would use a step drill. Then throw in the trash after 5 holes. Until then it's the right way for me...

    • @AddictedtoTools

      Hey mate. Are you alluding that I’m making bulk coin and don’t use my step bits in impacts? As this video cost me over $300 just for the drill bits let alone the drills and time. I make Jack all from these videos and affiliates. I also use the 1/4” step bits all the time in impacts as it’s more convenient. Cheers
