- Grab the popcorn for this one!
After the long delay the washer video is here!
Amazingly, the wash fill did not ATC the whole time. The Rinse Spin starts out a little unbalanced but look how well the machine recovers!
Many people have claimed that this machine is loud, but listen to it, it is not loud at all!
3:12 High Speed Agitation
17:32 Neutral Drain (Pump Show)
19:52 Spin
21:58 Rinse Fill
26:26 High Speed Agitation
30:44 Neutral Drain
33:08 Rinse Spin - บันเทิง
It's not a problem, Whirlpool direct drives have always been my favorite machine.
Spray Rinse at 33:09.
Ahhh.. My old Whirlpools used to get my clothes SO clean. I don't care how much water was wasted....
Indeed, water is what cleans your clothes! Can't be done without it!
Neither do I! You need water!
I watch these videos, because the sound of washing machines helps me to sleep. This extra long video is nice...
One of my favorites! A quiet Whirlpool direct drive washer!
Finally, a machine that gives you high agitation throughout the cycle; didn't knew that they came like this.
New washers be like: "no. error code. I don't wanna do that much laundry. drain the water."
Blue And White lolol that is fucking funny you can say that again I have an older ge the one with the plastic tub but I removed the plastic u
Tub and put in a stainless steel tub from a hydro wave in and now the what I call chug chug ge has a massive capacity
@@ScantPear I've seen that video of the hydrowave tub in the chug chug washer. I would still prefer a machine like that over the new "high efficiency" junk made today.
They're lazy!
Nice, glad you're getting great results with it!
Glad you enjoyed! You could always check out used markets if you want, for machines like these.
Your washer videos calm down my anxiety
Some people think we're bananas for liking to watch videos of washers and other people think it's really cool. I respect both opinions
@Kbillyify Yeah these washer were engineered so well. I actually really enjoy watching these machines. Believe it or not the neutral drain sounds I like the most.
Wow,!!that is a rocking awesome video.I love it.
The documentary really speaks to me. Mixing whites with colors? Cleansing them all at the same time? Using water, or nature to purify them? Pure genius.
buck toofus lol
Nice spins, good technique.
I officially love this side of TH-cam. XD
What is so totally and utterly amazing about watching washing machines spin
Some people just enjoy machinery!
Sharkie626 how fast does that washer spin do u know
harry andrews 640 RPM
Sharkie626 does it get rid of the water?
Sharkie626 will it spin that fast on every spin in the cycle?
Sharkie626 shows a great example on how a Whirlpool Washer works prior to the 2011 models. The 2011 and newer models now have lid locks and sensor controls.
TechMasterAllen on the 2011 models and newer? Their is. You'll have to use a tool to onscrew the screws to the part that attaches the base connected to the lid. When unscrewed, the base would have to connect to the lid lock piece so that it will read that the lid is locked/ You'll have to hold that base until when lid lock comes on, but you will however have the lid itself open.
They may not be much in production anymore, but the used market has tons of them. We have another Whirlpool from 1990 with a mechanical timer, still works perfectly.
I know another user on here who has a Maytag from 1984; perfectly functioning timer.
Nice to know I'm not the only one that likes to watch washer machines through the whole cycle. Mine's got a magnetically activated lid switch, so I just open the lid and put a magnet over the switch. My favourite cycle is the spin cycle. Lol
Ha nice. That works too!
Mine is agitation.
Ones likes these do better than other TL'ers with their short agitation strokes. Much older ones were extremely reliable, but sometimes the agitation wasn't powerful enough for things like work clothes.
This is easily one of the most relaxing things I have ever seen.
Best washer ever! Maytag's version were cool too!
I like you. You reply to comments with one short serious sentence.
i wish it was louder and this is one of my favorite videos
Now that is a good machine! :)
Actually Whirlpool didn't abandon these machines willingly, they were forced to by the EPA mandating washers made after a certain date had to use less water. I believe I read somewhere that by 2017 all new washers sold in the US will only be allowed to use 12 gallons of water for the complete cycle beginning to end. Makes me glad my 1978 Maytag is still humming along :)
Doesn't worry me any. Used markets will have TONS of these machines for many years. :D
Sharkie626 Or do what I do with my GE, I add water myself.
You can blame Obama and the democrats for that!
They could have, ( theoretically) used the same mechanism with the washplate design of the HE models and kept using it for years. Just change the agitator but keep the rest and bam! Old design with new washplate but with the tried and true everything else.
This is so stupid!
Simply the best!
I think this machine is loud!!! That's how great Whirlpool washer is!!! I have Whirlpool too, but it is a little different and it sounds more quiet!!!
@dualactionsurgilator Ahh okay, that explains the forward movement. I do find those vintage Kitchenaid agitators (the green ones) quite fancy. Ya know, with our 1990 Whirlpool, I have thought of getting the agitator cap since we never use the fabric softener dispenser for it, not the most necessary thing, but just an idea.
Indeed, the good news though, is that SO many of them were made, so, used machines or parts will be available for years to come!
It's kind of rare to find a good machine now that cleans cloths well. in 2012-2013
Still do! This one was recorded at my brother's place, the 1990 one is still at home running strong! (Count this as a reply to your other comment too)
@Sharkie626 You can certainly switch the dispenser out for a cap. As the agitator is the same for both applications. My favorite though, is the chrome rimmed KA softner dispenser.
I love that machine, but could you please do the delicate cycle,
@dualactionsurgilator The direct drive Kenmore were great. What I didnt like about them though is that the Kenmore agitator seemed to be too low height-wise compared to the Whirlpool agitator, and also the Kenmore's upper agitator did not move forward (clockwise) as well as the Whirlpool agitator.
What a time to be alive.
you sir, are a god among men
Heh, it wont be that in 20 years. The brake on the 1990 washer has definitely lightened up after all the years of use, but as long as it still holds the tub in place it's still good.
Nice washing machine it’s sooo sick #1 washing machine
It's one of the best!
my favorite part is when the agitator went around!
@Sharkie626 Interesting drain mechanism. As far as the speed shift goes I would agree with you. I tended to like the Kenmore direct drives for this reason. You get more time of full action and it is easier on the machine to continue on high agitation for the full time. The advantage to the speed shift however is that you have less wear-out and shredding of fabrics. I have not found a significant difference in todays sturdy fabrics though.
I've noticed no difference in cleaning power.
@BernardR30 Indeed. Though, if the time comes, I am going to start looking through the used markets, where washers still gave you FULL hot water and a warm rinse. Maybe you saw already but, in my vids, we have a Whirlpool from 1990 with 5 temperature selections and on that machine, the ONLY repair done to it was the agitator dogs back in 2002, everything else on that machine is original.
The last of the good machines made by Whirlpool. RIP.
StarzXFP Sad but true.
@gemini80204 The slow 4 minute potion of the main wash cycle was called the "Gentle Wash" portion of the cycle. The lower priced models didn't have this feature even though it was a large capacity machine.
@Sharkie626 Actually the top part of the agitator in the Whirlpool was more for asthetics and to house the softner dispenser. In the Kenmore you had a removable dispenser that snapped on to the top of the auger. They also used the same racheting mechanism. The exception being the Dual Action Plus which had a curved auger fin which created more drag. I switched the Whirlpool style agitator out of a Kitchenaid Model when it broke and put in a Kenmore one. It worked the same.
the pressure of water that this whirpool have are really good or your hydraulic installation is in good conditions. i don't know if this manner of wash clothes only on clockwise is really efficient.
Vinicius LimaRS, only the top part of the agitator goes Clockwise. The bottom park goes both ways and faster than the top part of the agitator
Mmmm, nice one you got there
what the fuck I was watching PATD concert videos how did I get here
piper marie You saw this video, and decided to click on it.

@JSneaker Have you seen the models that replaced the direct-drive. I'm a little iffy on them. What do you think of them?
Just got tid of my 1986 ken more Heavy Duty yesterday and now I'm waiting for my Samsung HE front loader can't wait getting excited good video
the outer tub of this machine looks like that of a similar machine that has fill spouts in four corners of the tub rim. that machine is unique because it calculates how much water to use (meaning it has no water level knob on the control panel) based on the rate of water entry into the tub and how quickly the water is rising inside the tub. if it is rising slowly, then the machine knows the clothes are absorbing the water and are not yet covered. if the level is rising quickly, then it knows the proper water level has been reached so it stops filling
however, this system is disabled if you open the lid, causing it to fill to the top no matter how little you have in the machine
Very balanced spin cycle
+Jair Akers I've never had a machine that I have loaded go out of balance :)
Good cause I have expierenced that the hard way
why don't you use fabric sofener
He machines go out of balance easily
Are you ever gonna find a washer like this some where? Where would you find one like this?
If I had to watch every single TH-cam video for the rest of eternity, this is the kind of thing I would be afraid of -_-
It's very simple! just take the two screws off of the left lid hinge and then push the hinge down itself to it's "closed" position and you should feel the switch engage.
You hacked the safety crap to keep the lid open. I love that!!!! I hate those lid lock thingies.
Oh yeah, many do!
Detach the left lid hinge and push it into the the "closed" position, the lid switch will engage.
I agree with you. Front loaders may not use as much water as a top loader will, but I think top loaders get the clothes cleaner.
Our Kenmore is from 2008, two years older than your bro's, and definitely a lightened up brake on the tub. You may have seen the vids of our Kenmore doing full cycles, including the tub brake too. :)
i totaly understand what your saying. we have a new high eficient top load wirlpool its kinda good but most of the time i think its just spinning the clothes. the whole barrel spins through the entire wash and it dosent have a motor coil. the motor coil actually pushed the clothes into the water. now the clothes are in the exact same place i put them in.
Also the Maytag Centennial that is in the garage has the same agitator
What's the contraption on the drain? some sort of sediment filter?? Interesting. Any idea what the spin RPM is?
This is kinda cool.
Just a question,
can you wash a comforter or a pillow better in a top load or a front load? in your opinion,
Since many comforters have written on their labels they should be washed in front loaders,
do you think they won't come out clean in a top load? I always used to wash them in my top load.
that washer looks very new!
Why is the spout hidden
@JSneaker Yeah, the only down side to this lower model is that it does not have a "true" delicate cycle, but that is not a problem as we do not have any delicates at that house that need washing. We did carefully think about that before buying this.
@dualactionsurgilator It is a pump, since the house drain pipe is higher than the washer, it has to be pumped into the drain pipe for it to drain properly.
Oh, about the no speed shift, this model, if you want to give them a level pertaining to the number of features, this would be more or less a level 2 model (out of 3), this one only has just the fast speed during the washing, which I am more than okay with, in fact, I tend to like it that way.
Usually you need to take off a lock and spam it into the lock hole, but on this one you just need a lid switch, or am I wrong are they both the same thing.
undyne ,k,..
That all depends on their size. Our comforters we always bring to a laundromat because they have BIG front loader machines and we have big comforters.
Technology makes products increasingly reliable. Mechanical timers are notoriously prone to failure. Even the low-end washers, such as those made by Amana, have switches and electronic timers. I was in 2 stores yesterday and tried the lowest price models. Washers with mechancial timers are history.
So true, it worked perfectly for years, but nope, we just have to change them....
How come Whirlpool discontinued them?
Dat rinse cycle doe
Nice video, interesting that there is no speed shift during wash. What is that contraption it drains into?.
Nice washing machine bro
Are You Here because Of Phil?
+Victoria Raach yes
3479lint my pham yassss omg
i can hear phils voice saying "she's spinning fast".
Yes!
ahh I hear ya there, same with our old fridge here. But with this machine I will push them to get it repaired if something goes wrong with it, they do all agree that todays things aren't built like they used to be, so that kinda helps.
The only thing I dislike about this washer is the pause after the wash before it starts draining and everything else. But other than that it’s a great washer.
Yeah those long pauses are kind annoying, but yeah these run great!
Welcome!
Gracias por los consejos, en la funcionalidad de una lavadora
Wow, your water really runs fast.
@madlyderanged Oh yeah! I remember that comment you left in the GE Hydrowave video, lol that was great! Seriously, in 21 years we now have the other Whirlpool, it has not torn up anything!
I love watching my machine agitate, but I can't watch it the entire time because it'll click off, so thanks!
Lower models? lol...I thought you would have said higher models...actually, I wish that mine could do a full cycle on high agitation...sigh. Great video, great lighting. I wash both casual and formal clothes in mine and have never got a problem. I also have an old G.E. ramp style agitator machine WITH ONE SPEED - HIGH...and have never had a problem, after all, I don't wear lace.
Cool I loved
@Sharkie626 Do you have a LED small gray flashlight?
wooow man!!! You must feel special now!
WATCH THIS WITH DRAMATIC MUSIC!!!!!!!! ITS SO GOOD!!!!
Which direct drive would u say is better the 2010 or the 1990?
I'd say the 1990 as it has more options.
26:27 i expected it to take at least 1 second to engage the agitation mode, that transmission is in super good condition.
Very nice indeed.
Hey Sharkie!
I'm trying to find a solution again haha. I'm noticing that my washer is becoming lopsided in the front left of the washer. Is there a way to fix this issue. I tried to see if the washer would go back to normal without clothes and it didn't, it still aims to that corner, not sure if it's the springs. If you have any suggestions, please let me know! Thank you so much!
Yeah I've seen that on a lot. Maybe try re-positioning the skate plate, or see if maybe the wear pads are worn.
@@Sharkie626 Got it! Thank you for this. Also, I don't know if you've experienced this before, but my washer, after a drain, it goes with a slow speed spin and it takes a while for it to get to a fast speed spin. Do you know the solution to this! Not sure if there's something stuck between the two tubs or if I need to replace the clutch, I just don't know lol.
@@WWERatedBethPhoenix3 Do you have a KitchenAid model? Some of them did that.
@@Sharkie626 No it's a Kenmore Elite (direct drive)
@@WWERatedBethPhoenix3 Oh I see what you mean now by the speeds. Hmm, could be a worn spin clutch possibly.
This must have been very near the end of direct drives. The tub ring looks different .
Oh yeah, I think 2011 was the final year.
You're definitely not alone.
Thanks! I guess it's because they were more popular in the UK.
@gemini80204 The slow 4 minute potion of the main wash cycle was called the "Gentle Wash" portion of the cycle. The lower priced models didn't have this feature even though it was a large capacity machine. The smaller capacity machines didn't sell as well as the large capacity machines did so they did away with them.
It's interesting how these machines have such powerful agitation.
I love direct drive washers. But didn't you have the 1990 Whirlpool Washer?
Interesting. But yeah, maybe something in the transmission, or the bolts for the transmission may be loose.
That machine is great!! Why is it we all have front loading ones in the UK?
What in the world did you type that with?
