    Don't forget though, neutral or spin drain, most machines like these do a good spray rinse on the cloths during the rinse spin, so i'm pretty sure it gets what it needs to off.

    Sorry I missed your comment, this was set to just about the highest time. The highest time for delicate makes the machine do a two-minute slow agitation followed by the extra slow agitation you see here.

    Can you please do a small load on the regular cycle?

  • @rchrisutoob
    @rchrisutoob 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    1986 would have been a year before Gentle Wash was introduced. Along with slightly new styling across all models (for a more uniform look), I believe that 1987 is also when belt drive was completely phased out. With Gentle Wash, one got the fast agitation for a few minutes at the start of the wash portion, followed by slow (normal) for the duration on Normal and Perm Press,

    I know it's a minimum load, but could you please do a medium load?

  • @Sharkie626
    @Sharkie626  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @vanni9283 Well to be gentle for the delicates of course ;) But also, I think the reason it is faster in rinse is so it can help get the soap/detergent out.

    Is that a full ring of drain holes along the bottom I see? They are extremely extremely hard to find. Ours is missing about 4-5 to make it a complete ring.

  • @rchrisutoob

    What?? My experience with this model is that on Delicate, the Gentle Wash System incorporates a two-minute pause & soak midway through the wash portion, but this one goes straight to drain. My Aunt's 1987 vintage of this model, my Whirlpool-built 1991 Kenmore portable, and my girlfriend's 1989 vintage of Sharkie's machine all had that feature. Sharkie, did you set it to the least amount of time, so it's past that point? Or does "3rd gear" xtra-slow agitation eliminate the need for that?

  • @jongilbert796
    @jongilbert796 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    i used to have Kemnore, but it slip into spin drain after washing during a delicate cycle, how do you make a neutral drain instead of slip into spin drain?

    • @Sharkie626
      @Sharkie626  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Jon Gilbert Do a regular cycle first. Sometimes if the transmission is cold, doing a delicate cycle does not give enough agitation to get the transmission reset for neutral drain.

    • @jongilbert796
      @jongilbert796 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Sharkie626 oh ok thank you

  • @Sharkie626
    @Sharkie626  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is basically the equivalent of that. Only difference is that, since this is a 3-speed machine it instead does a continuous extra low agitation instead of an intermittent low speed.

  • @NVHSChadSheppard1
    @NVHSChadSheppard1 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @NVHSChadSheppard1 I recently did some videos of the permanent press cycle on my kenmore. Woo woo tone goes more lower than the normal cycle one and spins around 400 RPM

  • @BroccoliBeefed

    Seems like a spin drain would be better. What is the advantage of a neutral drain like we see here?

    • @Sharkie626

      Hmm, I don't recall the machine doing that.

      Sharkie626 oh because me does. Also do you now why when the tubs goes down after the spin cycle it sounds like there's water trapped in the tub

    • @Sharkie626
      @Sharkie626  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a sound you do want to hear. That's the water in the balance ring which is located on the top of the inner tub.

    @vanni9283 Indeed! I don't think I had said otherwise, as far as I know.

  • @rchrisutoob
    @rchrisutoob 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Yeah, it's gotta be due to the 3-speed motor. All the units I mentioned were equipped with a 2-speed motor.

    • @Goldenwoodz
      @Goldenwoodz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s a 3 speed motor. The agitation in this video was the third and lowest speed, some models were two speeds and some were three speeds. Who knows why they chose the lowest over the medium agitation speed, mainly for it being a cycle for knits which is understandable.

  • @Sharkie626
    @Sharkie626  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @NVHSChadSheppard1 I believe they do.

  • @rieon-plumbingfan

    Our kenmore 90’s series has INSANE turnover even at low water levels! its just Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm XD like its crazy how even on a SMALL load you still get INSANE turnover, EVEN WHEN THE TOP PART OF THR AGITATOR IS NOT EVEN IN CONTACT WITH THE WATER! XD

    • @Goldenwoodz
      @Goldenwoodz 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because the top piece does not do the agitation. The lower 4 fin base of the agitator is what makes the currents in the agitated water. The top piece is to help corkscrew the fabrics downwards if it’s set to a higher water level.

    If the garments don't turn adequately, then add more water or use fewer items of clothing in the cycle. Yes, I've found out that on the slow agitation if you put too many items of clothing, they tend to float around a bit, but that can be overcome by using a little common sense.

  • @Sharkie626
    @Sharkie626  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    well for a small load more water wouldn't help much. Also, all the years we have used a small delicates load, clothing has not suffered any damage ;)

    Usually, it's easier on parts, and also, and sediment near the bottom gets drained out much better.

  • @BroccoliBeefed
    @BroccoliBeefed 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    It might be easier on parts, but it is in no way better on fabrics or effectiveness when it comes to water extraction and cleaning. All the dirty detergent sits on top of the fabrics with neutral drain, instead of being spun out from the beginning. Spin drains extract more water from the clothes.

  • @BroccoliBeefed
    @BroccoliBeefed 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yours could have been a glitch in engineering. We had a 1986 model and it only paused for 5 secs. before draining.

      Oh absolutely. Then you have the inverter direct drives that pull like 2000 watts at a time slamming forward and reverse every 3 seconds.
      Stick 10 towels in there, it will give you a shot glass of water to wash them in and take 3 hours to do it.

    • @NICKTHEGAMERGAMING
      @NICKTHEGAMERGAMING 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, you said you always put cashmere sweaters and stuff in here I remember, and you said they always came out great. I bet a belt drive would actually grind them to pieces, they only got 1 speed, and that speed isnt low, normal, or high, no. The one speed on a belt drive is screwing around. Silly indexing tub and 200° strokes dont get your clothes clean, especially when they have an average single digit lifespan WITH regular maintenance and good use. This is called a true gentle wash, not a front loader that just tosses the clothes in a teaspoon of water. Tossing your clothes around doesn't get your clothes clean. Ever stick your hand in a washer while its in agitation, with no clothes, you can see and feel powerful currents of water going through the tub, high speed, low speed, normal speed, any speed on a washer with a good agitator, you can feel it. Thats what gets your clothes clean, and helped by soap, they come out clean and smell fresh.

    That washer sucks, its so loud and destroying clothes and I have an LG front loader its so gentlee it has 6 direction motor and washes amazingly its 4 months old our last lg broke it was 2 years old it happens things break naturally its not a big deal I bet u respaced every part in that machine for it to work its easier to get a new machine then to get a new part and all the labor and stfuf

    • @Sharkie626
      @Sharkie626  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      No it is not loud and no it does not destroy clothes. If it did what you claim, then we would have replaced it long ago. Here's your list of parts replacements: Agitator dogs in 2002, and 2016. Drain pump in 2011. And guess what, we did that all ourself. Highest cost was the drain pump at $36 and the labor was relatively easy.
      Your LG broke after 2 years, yet this one keeps going after 28 years. Yeah, I don't think things just break naturally like that. Think before you comment.
