Maybe the reason why he pulled his gun because maybe earlier before that party he saw that 2 muggers or hired killers that was actually stearing him at the eyes and maybe he know that he is the target of 2 muggers

I've learned a lot about self defense and total awareness from watching this channel and I also think John Correias' comments are precise and well documented, congrats John !

And all the good restaurants. They also translated for us and even hackled for better prizes when we wanted to buy something. Great service. Worth every $.

2 dudes pulling up on a scooter/motorcycle to mug or carjack somebody is something we see on surveillance footage of violence constantly, particularly in places like Latin America or southeast Asia where scooters and motorbikes are really popular. You're somewhere like that and you see 2 dudes come up on one of those, and then turn back around towards you, the odds that they're initiating a peaceful/benevolent encounter are practically nonexistent. This guy didn't act unfairly or prematurely. He knew exactly what was going on and he made sure he wouldn't be an easy target.
You should look up moped thieves in the uk. It's getting pretty annoying because everytime you look at a moped with 2 guys, there's a 90% chance that they are thugs than a normal citizen. Not to mention that most of them use balaclavas, black helmet, full black clothing which makes it impossible to i.d them.
This is now an ordinary situation here in the Philippines where riding in tandems attack people who usually come home late and take whatever they have, some resort to even killing the helpless victim, so I appreciate what the man did, he was making sure that whatever happens at least he can break even !
Thailand isn’t violent like that unless there’s interference in their shady business deals. Thais are very non confrontational and look to be helpful. People don’t get mugged in public. Crime happens in dark places there, not out in the open.
Yes this so cool!!!!in my contry u have to be ready and more when ur family is around , kidnaping is a every day thing!!!he is happy to be in this video
I was super impressed with this guy's situational awareness. Like you said he was having a great time, but he was aware. Everyone else in the shot was sitting and facing away from the street, which is asking for trouble. I always try to decide where trouble might come from and point my eyes that direction before I settle in/sit down/whatever. Glad no one was hurt.

And this is finally good i see your videos and make that what you say. Good job make it more
Yes that happened in the Dominican Republic. It was definitely a robbery attempt. And it happens every fucking day in the country. But over there he could have shot them dead no problem. Same goes for the robber they could have kill him or any Innocent bystander and if they has some good money to pay they would have been out in a few month, “out on bail.” Laws only works there if you got money or if you mess with someone with political power.
Howard Guy , he IS Just a brasilian Cop from são Paulo, Brazil. Im also a cop (in Rio ) and i act always the same way, when i see 2 guys riding a byke like that.
Little Star Bis /Guerrero é ruim demais I too think that this is in Brazil and not Dominican Republic. He could be a cop, but seeing 2 Mercedes, I think that he’s a bodyguard for a wealthy family. Anyways, I’m sure that armed bodyguards and cops act the same way around 2 suspect looking males riding on motorcycles
Now you just helped a homeless man it's important to sometimes help the poor because the street is their home so if someone planned to mug you the homeless man can alarm you.
I’ve read another comment saying something similar but I agree with it. This doesn’t just look like he was there with the family to be with the party, he seems to be acting like a bodyguard. The way he was standing back from the family in the road looking both ways. Edit: or off duty police officer who knows instinctively that normally two guys on bikes that go past and turn around after scoping you could and most likely are a threat.
anthony kobe I understand that kobe. But sometimes just having situational awareness is the best skill in your arsenal. Crooks are cowards. And a lot of times it's easy to run them off. Go down fighting if you have to. Don't be a victim.
He definitely an Loyal, Highly paid, Skilled & trained body guard. Definitely his actions overlook he might have army background. Hats off for defending the family.
Nice work. Based on my research, this is totally legal to do here in NH (became so, after a specific case in 2007). The best self defense with a firearm is when you can use it to stop the crime before it even takes place.
Yeah I just want to be careful not to give blanket advice because states differ. Before 2009 this would land you in jail in Arizona. After 2009, justifiable.
I live in the Dominican Republic as a foreigner and I can confirm that two guys on a moto is a dangerous situation. Always have to have your head on a swivel if you see them
You grow up in my neighborhood that would stick out aswel.. This man has what we call the eye of the tiger or.. the third eye He knew what was going on.. a pre thinker.. Enlighten one.. probably saved that family and that little kid:)
Vancouver ViKinG Oh please, Canada needs to start paying protection money for all the free defense you’ve been enjoying for the last 75 years. There is 8 guys in your army and legally half of them must be gay so that Trudeau won’t get his panties in a wad.
Nah, the dude just had the ability to look down the street and see what was coming. It’s not that hard of a skill. To pick up this skill, start by practicing pulling your head out of your ass and noticing your surroundings. (If you’re walking, look ahead a few blocks, stop and look behind you once in a while, watch how you approach intersections and corners. No mystical visions required.)

@@mohammedelsayed9626 In some countries it is very common for two guys on a motorcycle to be out robbing people. During the days of Pablo Escobar, two guys on a motorcycle also committed assassinations.

Man you must live in a rough neighborhood... down here in Louisiana you could walk outside with 10 guns strapped to your back and nobody would bat an eye. Unless its on a public street or on school/government property of course. Hell, I clean my guns outside and cops will stop to ask me what make and model it is just because they are curious. Like different worlds man, different worlds...
Thank you for including this one John, that is what I taught my kids as they grew up...be aware of everything around you. In the town/city it's usually people, out on the trail or countryside it,s usually..people...possibly animals. I especially like this one because the incident was stopped before it could start by an alert person just minding his own business.
This is one of my favorites here on active self protection. Thank you for sharing this very informative and life saving contents sir. More power to your Channel and God bless. Greetings from the Philippines 🇵🇭
It wasn’t mentioned by John but As someone who has done close protection work I can promise you this guy was contracted security...I will also add i am almost certain his gun being carried un-chambered was not his choice, but a request by the asset. Yes, it make zero since but is requested more than one could fathom.
Active Self Protection you’re right it is. More established BG’s will just say no to the request. Kind of a “if you don’t trust me with a loaded gun then I’m not your guy” approach...but those new to the field will agree to almost anything for a contract.
I agree that he’s a hired bodyguard and looking at the white car and silver suv look like Mercedes adds even more credibility that he’s a bodyguard for a wealthy family.
That's a horrible request to ask of someone that is protecting your family. I mean, you would have to consider that your life right there. No round chambered could mean no chance in another situation.
I’m not sure why this video was recommended to me? I know very little about this stuff... but that was clearly a body guard who was either well trained or has good experience. He was clearly on the job though. So my takeaway isn’t that I need a gun, but instead I should live in a safe place where guns aren’t needed... and then if I travel to an unsafe place, don’t get a gun... hire a guy like this guy! That way I can enjoy my day and I don’t have to be “on-guard” 24/7.
IN MY COUNTRY THE MOST COMMON WAY TO ROB YOU IS LIKE THIS 2 GUYS ON A BIKE.. LETS SAY 90 % ,SO THATS WHY PEOPLE OVER THERE ARE ALERT FOR SITUATION LIKE THIS.. IN HERE USA YOU GET ROB IN ALL KINDS OF WAY
We are fortunate here in the U.S. to get robbed in a variety of creative ways. Two people on a motorcycle would get old after awhile and we would catch on and just start shooting all of them.
Stupidity indeed, how they would have been killed if the armed guy was a gangster it's only their luck they met a guy with no intention to kill and showed his gun to scare them away.
I liked how he drew and cocked it in a single, smooth, quick motion. This guy puts in practice, good show sir, good show. Personally, my everyday carry stays cocked, never know when you may need to draw and discharge quickly, sometimes those extra motions of racking the slide count, I don't leave it to chance. This was a perfect example of a weapon used as a deterant, which is best if you can get by with only that, no need to drop someone if you can simply send a message of this aint the place vatto and the threat be dispersed without actually firing.
That guy is pretty switched on. Everyone else around him? Not so much. When your buddy gets really attentive and pulls a gun it might be time to stand up, unfold your arms, face the threat, and get the kids away from there.
Mean mugging ain't gonna save your life. You think the bad guys left the area coz they were been mean mugged? Lol. If you recognize a threat that can end you life, you gutta bring the same force or get outta of their before you get shot and die.
@@bahamasking2063 Mean mugging lets them know that you are aware of them. Sometimes that is enough to stop a crime from occurring because unless you're a target, most want to catch someone off guard.
My family is from the Dominican republic and you learn from a young age that if you see two dudes on a motorcycle/bike then you gotta be aware cause either its a cab or you’re about to get robbed
Perfect, Awesome, Beautiful ... while I dig in my bag for more adjectives: This guy recognized a potential threat and responded beautifully (in my opinion). He was obviously the defender in the group, and you can tell the others had faith in that. They saw him draw but the didn't panic. Yes, check your local laws. In NY state (which is more like Canada now) you have to make sure you don't offend an attacker. Drawing a pistol has to be a very last ditch effort, assuming you've received a deposition from the POS that helps prove the obvious, that he/they had intent to attack/kill/rob you. Anyway, his situational awareness was the best defense!
Making sure you don't offend is one of the exact points about self-defense law that is very carefully constructed. It's not defense if you're the aggressor, and if you draw or fire on something either not a threat or in an encounter you started, that qualifies as a whole host of felonies.
@@SamnissArandeen Understood, and I don't disagree with you, but this happened outside of America and all its hard set rules of engagement. We can all see how this worked and was appropriate in this scenario, with little to no risk of an opportunistic attorney or prosecutor making an issue of this.
He seems to have the build of a stereotypical body guard, is standing rather than sitting like the other people in the video (perhaps protecting the sitting family) , and the speed in which he reacted shows at least some training. Who knows for sure.
Zachary Windsor his reflexes are not least training... It's the best training and more importantly he had saw many bad situations and came out alive...

There was a shotgun in the bed of the truck😄

The guy has professional bodyguard written all over him, I think the man and woman sitting next to each other and the little one are the family.
That's an interesting idea. You might be right, though I think that a professional wouldn't be carrying with an empty chamber.
Einsatzgruppen Commander definitely a BG. as someone who has worked close protection he fits every bill. As far as you un-chambered round comment. As ridiculous as it sounds it is often requested we operate in that capacity. People who don’t understand firearms are always worried about ND’s.

The sound deceleration of motor bike and eye contact with 2 guys is what trigger him. Very impressive 👏👏👏
Simply not staring at your phone can make such a huge difference in your self awareness.
Having a gun doesn't mean anything if you're staring at your phone and not paying attention to what's going on around you.
Meh its okay to stare at your phone as long as your not in brazil lol
I agree. Gives me time to gather my belongings and have my hands waiting in the surrender position by the time I'm approached.
The guy pulled his gun unusually quickly so i'm guessing he saw the motorcycle drive by earlier.
he gotta be used to this kinda shit so he knows he always gotta keep eyez wide open
You are 100% correct!
In Brazil is common for bikers in pairs of 2 are out to steal.
Nope would of been the same for me just Detection in noticing weird things like two dudes on the same motorcycle
Maybe the reason why he pulled his gun because maybe earlier before that party he saw that 2 muggers or hired killers that was actually stearing him at the eyes and maybe he know that he is the target of 2 muggers
I like how everyone around him, noticed what he noticed and fully trusted that Man to handle the situation, without panicking or showing fear. ⚔️ Warriors 🙏🏽
It's not being paranoid, it's being aware of your surroundings. That's what I keep telling people!
crosses101 Exactly. it's not like you are forbidden from looking at your phone in a bad neighborhood. The problem is when people stare at it for more than 30 seconds in a bad neighborhood.
The best fight is the one you're not in. Good job.
I've learned a lot about self defense and total awareness from watching this channel and I also think John Correias' comments are precise and well documented, congrats John !

@Rudy Cota can't you shoot them anyway? Kidding, kidding...
Just a relaxing day outdoors in Dominican, enjoying the family and a bit of casual gun play.

Yep... so they'll go around the corner and do the same thing to somebody without a gun.

Good awareness, and the man apparently keeps in shape.
He just needs to buy proper sized clothing...not shop at baby gap or european cuts.

Nice work. Based on my research, this is totally legal to do here in NH (became so, after a specific case in 2007). The best self defense with a firearm is when you can use it to stop the crime before it even takes place.

Nah, the dude just had the ability to look down the street and see what was coming. It’s not that hard of a skill.
That's ridiculous about the request.
Active Self Protection you’re right it is. More established BG’s will just say no to the request. Kind of a “if you don’t trust me with a loaded gun then I’m not your guy” approach...but those new to the field will agree to almost anything for a contract.
he IS Just a brasilian Cop from são Paulo, Brazil. Im also a cop (in Rio ) and i act always the same way, when i see 2 guys riding a byke like that.

Hi John, it sounds so cool when you address us as John Carrera your host! Your professional and deserve the title.
