However, I do agree with you that respect is earned afterwards. It’s earned by the way you treat them, the way you talk to them, and the way you interact with them.
As you can see here on this video, Oxana was looked down upon by the host by asking VERY personal and rude questions. What do these questions have to do with being a MU? And if they’re trying to get to know her, there are more proper and interesting things to ask. Clearly, they don’t respect her AT ALL and think she’s under them because she’s a woman.

I just watched this vid only now but I still feel bad for Miss Colombia. I mean I'm from the Philippines and the MU 2015 was mind blowing coz we thought our representative didnt win but she won! But on the other side i still feel like crying everytim3 I remember Miss Colombia's face when the crown was being removed on her head. I felt really bad. Filippinos representative has the tendency to break down the chain of a possible back to back crown by sending the most competitive. all around well prepared, energetic and charismatic Miss Universe delegates in each of their respective years. Catriona has always been known to be an excellent speaker, and this time she did not let herself down by bringing victory to the Philippines for the fourth time in history and once again like Pia, denying the South Africa a possible back to back crown. Since then yearly, Philippines was always included in 15, 10, 5 and luckily won runners up (4) and MU (2)...

With Ms. Oxana's real reason ( and by that I mean, which part of the agreement/"responsibilities" with MsU did they have a misunderstanding with) for leaving the title still yet not fully disclosed to the public up to this day, I think it was more than just her, being "lazy" for not doing things she's expected to do or be during those times, but it might have been that some of these additional "duties" asked from her have greatly shaken her personal beliefs and virtues.
Like every year when Miss Universe is nearer to hild I would always go back to the times of 2015 Miss Universe, it never gets old.
